Report: Clint Eastwood headed to Tampa

posted at 3:49 am on August 29, 2012 by Mary Katharine Ham

Townhall‘s Guy Benson has word from a source that the actor is headed to Tampa. The A-lister’s name has been among those bandied about as the advertised mystery speaker for Thursday night. Inbound?

A well-placed Republican source tells Townhall that Oscar-winning director and actor Clint Eastwood will travel to Tampa, Florida to attend Mitt Romney’s nominating convention this week. As the news media scrambles to identify the so-called “mystery speaker” scheduled to address GOP delegates on Thursday evening, some have speculated that the iconic Hollywood figure could fit the bill. Our source — who spoke on the condition of anonymity — could not confirm if Eastwood is, in fact, the intriguing “to-be-announced” speaker, but stated unequivocally that the Dirty Harry star will arrive in Florida late on Wednesday or early on Thursday, and will return to southern California on Friday.

Make my day.

So…what do you have to say about MSNBC gutting out all the speeches of minorities speaking at the RNC?

Come on now, perfesser…you wouldn’t want to be seen as a hypocrite, would you?

A GOP lawmaker could say “we want to suppress the black vote” and you would..oh wait they *have* said that in Ohio.

libfreeordie on August 29, 2012 at 9:15 AM

You are becoming a joke with your obsession over always playing the race card. Have you ever gone more than 1 day without hurling accusations of racism against people you disagree with?

Clint would bring the house down!

Liberals Call for Killing of 6 year old Conservative!

Flora Duh on August 29, 2012 at 9:07 AM

Absolutely disgusting. Those people need to be named and shamed. The sites ought to record the IP addresses.

Liberals often become incredibly hateful and violence-obsessed whenever someone expresses opposing views. Liberals respond to outspoken conservatives by calling them racist (as the alleged “professor” libfreeordie is fond of doing) or by cursing them out and wishing for violence to come to the conservative. Liberals are like babies. They stomp their feet and throw tantrums if they don’t get their way. This is what intolerance looks like.

RNC delegates hurling verbal and physical abuse at black camera women?

libfreeordie on August 29, 2012 at 9:15 AM

And what happened to those delegates professor?

They were promptly removed from the floor and their actions denounced.

You show us your outrage over actions like these and we might believe your indignation is not just a bunch of faux bullchit.

MSNBC’s Touré: ‘Is that Artur Davis or Kid from Kid n Play?’

MSNBC cuts every speech made by a minority from RNC speech coverage

Guess he’s feeling guilty about his Obama commercial.

rickv404 on August 29, 2012 at 9:36 AM

Clint’s attendance would be no big deal, he’s always there.
I do hope he does NOT have a speaking slot.
Having a hard time listening to his raspy, quiet voice in general.
Just his presence is a nice enough validation for the GOP.

Liberals Call for Killing of 6 year old Conservative!

So eff off you race-baiting hypocritical cowardly little puke.

Flora Duh on August 29, 2012 at 9:49 AM

aside from ann and davis, i heard the night was a stinkeroo for mitt. none of the speakers seemed to fill in the void that is romney. none of the speakers highlighted mitts early hardships.

it was all about them, nothing about mitt. we are going to lose this thing big time.

renalin on August 29, 2012 at 7:22 AM

Did you watch/listen to the speeches? There were some flat speeches, sure, but several strong ones: Mia Love, John Kasich, Artur Davis, Mrs. Romney and Chris Christie. Ted Cruz was also solid.

I felt pretty good after last night.

A few choice lines from Mr. Eastwood’s speech —

“It’s the 4th quarter in America, we’re down by 1, the enemy is right in front of us, and the chime on Colonel Douglas Mortimer’s clock is slowing down.”

“Mr. President…..GET. OFF. MY. LAWN!”

Glad that Clint Eastwood will be there, but we could use a better “mystery speaker”.

How about John Bolton?

Here’s the deal. Libfreeorlie is one of those people who pretends to be an intellectual (not all professors are by the way) and attempts to fit the role. It isn’t really able to debate so it throws out strawmen and ad hominems or changes the subject. And when it gets desperate, which is most of the time, it uses the race card. Oh, and it wants to be so-called relevant so it uses the latest Liberal talking points and catch phrases.
All in all it’s a tedious bore. If you ever want it to shut up just have me ask it a pertinent question and it usually departs the thread without replying.
It’s a sanctimonious pretentious race-baiter, barely a step up from Al Sharpton. Ignore it.

Deanna on August 29, 2012 at 11:05 AM

Unlike most celebs, who put their granny glasses on and play political expert to an audience, but have no real credibility in any world outside of make-believe, Eastwood has been involved in real businesses, real politics, and real life. Of course, the Left will dismiss him as nothing more than an actor while celebrating Eva Longoria (and why the DNC thinks that an all-star baseball player changes anything is curious indeed).

Clint, if he were to speak, would speak clear and decisive truths, not a stack of platitudes; concrete issues, not misdirecting pablum. I’m nothing like a huge fan of Eastwood, but he is more than intelligent, old enough and influential enough to not care in the least about “fitting in” with the Hollywood crowd by sticking to the generic SAG ideology, and will say what he means to say.

Would be worth checking in on, should it be true.

Read the article and learn something.
No one our side applauds this kind of behavior. It is dealt with accordingly and we move on as decent people do.

Your people, beacons of tolerance and civility, applaud this kind of behavior and even encourages it. Bullying and intimidation main tools of your Marxist M.O. Who says unions are unnecessary anymore ?

OWS should have been a wake up call for you moron’s, but nope, sacrifices have to be made. Too bad integrity is always first on the Democrite chopping block.

Once your done ” Getting in someone’s face” – how’s about getting in front of a mirror and say ” I’m the problem.”

Your shtick is shallow and dishonest.

FlaMurph on August 29, 2012 at 8:46 AM

Well stated. Thank you.
Just wondering: is it possible that the perp was an OWS/”Anonymous”/anarchist plant?

Hit & run threadjack trolling-to-the-max is Liefreeordie’s standard M.O. each and every single day — and Liefreeordie has been doing it for months. Numerous folks have noted Liefreeordie’s blatant threadjacking and trolling and have complained. Plus, the HotGas bloggers do read these thread comments and therefore are well aware and must have been for some time now.

Yet, Liefreeordie is still here.

So, the answer is, “No.” It is not a ‘bannable offense’.

Feel free to join in the fun — one and all.

FlatFoot on August 29, 2012 at 11:58 AM

I think it is sometimes a bannable offense, but only sometimes.

IIRC, lib4life (?) was banned by Ed for trying to hijack a thread by making it about Romney’s Mormonism.

While HA tolerates trolling and thread hijacking by trolls there seems to be a limit the tolerance for it. I’m wondering where that limit is.

This particular troll tries to make almost every thread it posts on about race and racism and/or about LGBT issues, basically calling the GOP and conservatives racists and bigots over and over again. And it does it a lot.

Sometimes the attempts to hijack are very blatant, like in this case. It just shows up, jumps into a thread, and tries to make it about what it wants to talk/troll about no matter what the thread topic is.

How stupid would Eastwood be as the great surprise? He’s as wishy-washy as they come. They’d be applying the same logic as Colin Powell being invited to speak. He’s so liberal he walks like he has a stick up his butt, and tries to disguise it by wearing conservative clothing.

I would really welcome a surprise Bush/Cheney joint appearance, or either one…

You’re on crack…Eastwood is a giant talent, an institution really.. He’s no Holywood steoreotypical out of touch, brainless dupe, it would be amazing if he actually speaks at the convention…
