Video: What’s Anonymous planning for the RNC?

posted at 5:31 pm on August 25, 2012 by Jazz Shaw

Even with the extensive security precautions being taken by authorities for the big convention in Tampa this week, tensions are still running high and everyone will need to be on their toes. There was a brief rumor making the rounds that aerial drones and armed, ground based robots would be in use. That story has since been shot down by the authorities, (no pun intended) but the story did highlight one area of concern which receiving a fair amount of scrutiny. (Emphasis mine.)

But police are expecting thousands of protesters to descend on the area for the convention, scheduled to kick off Sunday night with a party for media and delegates at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. The first sessions are scheduled for Monday and protests are expected throughout the event, set to run through Aug. 30, weather permitting.

Thursday, a new YouTube video, purportedly from the hacking collective known as Anonymous, surfaced, calling on protesters to disable surveillance cameras, jam police radio systems and tear down barricades. That video comes on the heels of one posted on YouTube last week saying that peaceful protest is passé.

We normally think of Anonymous in terms of hacking the websites of agencies, disrupting e-commerce and generally fighting any sort of battle which can be managed from behind a keyboard. But this is something different. Here’s the first of two videos purportedly from the hacker group. (As a side note, I would observe that if the people producing these videos would apply their technical skills to something productive, such as marketing, they might make a pretty good living. The technical quality isn’t bad at all.)

Anonymous RNC Battle Objectives Preparedness Plan

Toward the end, after laying out plans to disrupt police communications, tear down barriers and disable security cameras, the speaker begins to “deal with” the subject of large corporate offices in Tampa.

All over the city of Tampa there are corrupt corporate buildings. A map of the locations where these corporate places can be found at [website redacted]. These corporate places should be dealt with, but the small businesses should be left alone. Unless, of course, there is a Mitt Romney sticker in their window. Ha ha.

I wasn’t aware that buildings were corrupt, but there you go. We’ll finish up with another video allegedly released by the perpetrators. This one, once again, demonstrates some really remarkable production quality and marketing skills along with the overarching theme of anarchy and violence, cloaked in a veneer of caring about the common man. The bits about the RNC come toward the very end.

Stay on your toes out there and I’ll try to keep my eyes open while I’m in town.

What sells is the human interaction, the human experience. The rest is just gratis. Remember what I said about BIOS? It’s about the humans and their interaction, reaction, and ultimately, their fate. You worried that I’d have to plow through a lot of expository stuff or have some character spouting tech stuff to get the details out about the disaster. I don’t. Its enough that its a disaster and the reader knows the basics of what, why and the story is about what it means to the characters. IF we write about what we know, even if its fiction, it has gravity… the weight of truth. It enfolds the reader because the characters are ‘real’ to them, and they become sympathetic, the reader is invested in their experience and their fate. Faulkner. Fitzgerald. Hemingway.

Too cool you went there on your own. :)

Jackie. Something. I can lay on that couch, so to speak, and I can make the reader feel her heartbeat. Just right now. This will sound ridiculous, but I’m really serious — I forgot what love was. Is that not . . . Anyway, when I turn my imagination from, say, family time, whatever you’d like, to the “plot” — when I move from the emotional composition in my mind to “a sequence of unfortunate events,” it seems hollow. Is that clear? I might not be getting this out. How do you get any gravity into the movement? Part of my writing just in one moment got significantly heavier-weight here . . . but now, the rest seems awfully thin. Like deep color and then . . . back to washed out.

. . . how do you put weight in motion?

Axe on May 5, 2013 at 2:29 AM

Just like Newton:

F=ma

Force equals mass times acceleration, acceleration is the rate at which velocity is increasing,

Mass is the amount of matter in an object.
Weight is the effect of gravity on a given mass. Hence,

W=mg
Weight =Mass times the acceleration due to Gravity

W=Fd

Work is a Force through a distance. like a physics friend of mine once said: Rocking chairs do a LOT of “work” – but they never get anywhere…..

As the inspiration and that feeling grips you, write that.. and only that. Then… set it aside. Wait for that same moment to come to you again, and it will if you don’t try to force it… and write that. When you’ve literally practiced that effortless flow enough, ( which is what you’d be doing) it will come more readily, and more frequently. You’ll be able to summon it. And then, when you have enough of these sections written out, you’ll read back over it and you’ll suddenly have another moment of clarity about how they should fit for what it is that you’re trying to express. You’ll see that if you rewrite certain things, emphasizing an event or a character, adding or editing, that the story will solidify and take on that weight.

A story arc is always the same. You have a beginning when you set your stage, introduce the protagonist and antagonist, and then you have the body of the story,you’re protagonist will reach his/her lowest ebb at that 2/3 mark ( more or less…give or take a few pages) its then that you enter the final third of the work, the resolution. Your moments that you’ve written together in ‘free write’ ( which is what you’re describing) will come together in this frame work. You’ll see. And the gravity, the weight and momentum that you seek will be forged in that melding of the pieces you’re laying out and the rewrites you make.

Every writer has their own process for getting the story out and putting it in form. Yours sounds like its going to come in bursts of free writing. This is not unusual for a poet who is working in fiction. It is a process.

This is clumsy, but — that’s like a poem, just wider. That’s exactly what you do with words and structures, line by line, word by word. Takes what it takes. :) It’s just that the parts are bigger.

I think I see what you are saying. I think. :)

You didn’t answer my question directly though. But that’s because I couldn’t understand it myself, so I couldn’t write it out. I’ll think it through. :) [secret: it took me three days to write my "silly ballad," and it's broken in exactly two places. :) One word, one structre. If you see what I'm saying.]

Wow. What an important night. And no fireworks in evidence. :)

Perhaps if Rubio were willing to engage with the law abiding rather than the law breaking.

VorDaj on May 5, 2013 at 7:26 AM

Sorry but Rubio is just either completely stupid or he is selling his position to big business interests that want an open border and tens of millions more illegals as cheap labor!

But why sellout Senator Rubio??????

To prove to big business you can sell the idea and get it passed and have their millions of $$$$$$ in donations for 2016???

These lying sacks of shinola in DC that won’t just SECURE THE BORDER first KNOW what they are doing. They are paving the way for the dissolution of the sovereignty of the US.

All “white-crackers” owe the ‘descendents of slaves’ a debt of goods (financial/material), services, and displaying an attitude of shame, guilt, and condemnation for being born “white-crackers”.

Ya gotta problem with that?

listens2glenn on May 5, 2013 at 8:32 AM

And how are these mass deportations going to help Republicans woo Latino voters?

If they think they can mass deport the illegals here after 2011 who can’t pay a fine why can’t they find and deport them now? Rubio needs to stop putting himself in their shoes and asking himself, what if that was me. Where do they come up with that 11M figure anyway? Must be close enough for govt work.

Well CBS Sunday Morning show just ran a hit piece on America and their evil Mexican/American war. They also approved the old Absolute Vodka ad depicting Mexico as 1/2 of America because that’s the way it used to be. The story also approved of illegal immigration because, after all, 1/2 the US used to belong to Mexico. They never mentioned the fact that the Mexicans took that land from the Indians. Evidently, the Mexicans taking land from the natives is ok, only the white America is evil for doing that.

It was truly a one-sided hit piece on America. The border will never be fixed because the media won’t allow it.
