Surprise: Unexpected guest stops by the White House press briefing

posted at 3:21 pm on August 20, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

President Obama has been taking a bunch of flak lately for giving a noticeably large chunk of his media time to outlets like Entertainment Tonight and local radio, and especially for not meeting with the White House press corps for months, while allowing his campaign surrogates to field some of the more tricky issues with the mainstream media. Looks like Team Obama wanted to quell the criticisms, as President Obama made an unscheduled appearance at the White House press briefing Monday afternoon. The President took various questions from the press corps, saying that the use of chemical or biological weapons by the Syrian government would be a “red line” for possible U.S. military intervention; disputing the idea that he’s running an overly negative campaign; and weighing in on recent rape-related remarks by Rep. Todd Akin as “offensive.”

“Let me first of all say the views expressed were offensive. Rape is rape. And the idea that we should be parsing and qualifying and slicing what types of rape we’re talking about doesn’t makes sense to the American people and certainly doesn’t make sense to me,” Obama told reporters.

There was also more of the standard fare about the many ways in which our darned obstructionist Congress is spitefully neglecting to implement President Obama’s jobs-and-economy-related agenda, but then there was this beautifully blatant moment of out-of-control campaign-tone denial, emphasis mine:

Well, first of all I am not sure that all of those characterizations that you laid out there were accurate. For example, nobody accused Mr. Romney of being a felon. And, I think that what is absolutely true is if you watch me on the campaign trail, here’s what I’m talking about. I’m talking about how to put Americans back to work.

Er… really? Flashback to July:

Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter suggested that Mitt Romney may be a criminal on a conference call with reporters this morning about a Boston Globe report that shows that Romney stayed at Bain Capital three years past when he said he’d left.

Cutter said that there were two ways to interpret the story. The first: Mitt Romney was “misrepresenting his position” at Bain to the Securities and Exchange Commission, “which is a felony.”

Or, he was “misrepresenting his position at Bain to the American people. If that’s the case, if he was lying to the American people, that’s a real character and trust issue,” Cutter said.

How many months has it been since dear leader took a question from the WH press corps? I suspect his appearance on Entertainment Tonight and his interview with People magazine while avoiding his own press gaggle wasn’t polling well. What a loser this clown is.

He just makes me puke! Imagine all of the criticism that finally got him to drop in!
He cares not a witt about the press, or anyone else.
Just a quote I refound today:

From Norman Mattoon Thomas:
Presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America:

The American people will never knowlingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism,” they will adopt every fragment of the
socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation,
without knowing how it happened.”
He went on to say: “I no longer need to reun as a Presidential Candidate for
the Socialist Party.
The Democrat Party has adopted our platform.”

Does this sound familiar to anyone!

I don’t know why Obama tells such blatant lies like that. I guess he figures the Democrat/media complex won’t call him out on it(although lately that’s not a safe bet), but everyone else will play the Stephanie Cutter clip where she calls Romney a felon 24/7.

Oh, and given Chuck Todd’s notoriously hostility toward Obama, I’m sure Chuck asked him how he planned to simultaneously spend $85B in new revenues from his tax plan on saving teachers jobs, creating thousands of new green jobs, and paying down the $16T debt. What was Obama’s answer?

Though I was jst becoming a teenager, I remember the long summer of 1980 – Reagan being slammed left and right for being an extremist – the polls showing Carter ahead, even though the whole country was sick of him, the embattled aura around Carter – the negativity of the campaign.

Remember that it all coalesced into two moments – Reagan saying “there he goes again” in the debate, and the Killer Rabbit attack on Carter’s boat that made Carter, fairly or not, look like a wuss.

I’m wondering whether Romney will get in a knockout punch in the debate- and am watching to see whether 0bama has his Killer-Rabbit moment.

Obama’s a blight on his own down-ticket races, senior dems aren’t even attending his convention, nor do they appear with him on his incessant arugula-escapes around the country. SO MUCH came out of that fluffy press conference that Romney-Ryan will be able to bury barack with in swing state ads. No wonder the guy doesn’t do press conferences. Man, he really handed them some material:

1) Straight-up denied any knowledge of the cancer ad — but we’ve got his campaign chief in a conference call with the guy months earlier. Barack lied.

2) Gave ‘em the quote “We don’t go out of bounds.” Splice that in with Biden’s “chains” remarks, the cancer ad, barack invoking Romney’s dead father, etc., etc., etc. Maybe with a football motif. You’re out of bounds, barack, and you have been for a long, long time. Game over!

3) Says that if someone wants to run for president, “his life is an open book” — but barack LIED in his book, made up characters, told stories that never happened — and he has sealed more records than a judge presiding over the trial concerning his favorite whore house. Your open book, barack, is fiction. America deserves better.

4) And the pièce de résistance — said women don’t want politicians making decisions about THEIR medical care. So, then, YOU support repealing Obamacare, too? Cool!

What an idiot this guy is. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
Romney says thanks for the material, barack.

You “teach”, huh? Hard to believe.

Starting at the :25 second mark, he pretty much sums up the conservative argument against Obamacare. Thanks Mr. O!!

…the comments do underscore is why we shouldn’t have a bunch of politicians a majority of whom are men making health care decisions for women…..

…or for anyone

Ha. Ha. Ha. I’m sure all the people without jobs and prospects and losing their homes are amused.

Tee hee, Mr. Tapper.

Losers.

Look, I’m just trying to find something, anything, humorous in all this. Because if I didn’t, I might kill myself. If you don’t like what journalists are or are not doing, then address their actions directly. Don’t fault me for finding something sunny to keep my spirits up. I am making a conscious effort to be hopeful for our future while planning for the worst. I spent nearly a year unemployed, so don’t assume I am unaffected by all this Obama bullcrap.

Again, my point is that you didn’t need to quote me in order to state your opinion about journalists.

Hey, I didn’t know that liblookmaIlibfreewithoutabrain! is actually Congressman Keith Ellison!

Dude, where’d I leave my copy of Howard Zinn’s “An America-Hater’s Alternative History of the United States: How We Would Have Achieved Ameritopia Already If We Had Only Given The Keys to Stalin!”

Every time they pull their BS and shirk their duties, people get hurt. They foisted this POS on the population and how many lives have been destroyed by this?

absolutely a fact. And, a good reason why “news” companies are failing. Will the taxpayers have to bail them out too?

OT: this should get your blood boiling.

I saw some interesting reactions to the presser from twitchy.

So, the preacher in chief takes time out of his busy campaign schedule to go in front of the media and smack Akin around. What a disgrace this man is.

Libtard logic.

For example, nobody accused Mr. Romney of being a felon. (BHO)

Stephanie Cutter is nobody, so BHO told the truth. (Libtard)

See how it works?

Just another campaign opportunity disguised as doing the government’s work.
