Open thread: Sunday morning talking heads

posted at 8:01 am on August 19, 2012 by Allahpundit

Wall-to-wall professional flacks make this morning’s line-up one of the most dismal Sunday yakfests in ages. The lowlight: Noted Obama campaign spokesliar Stephanie Cutter does battle with Romney aides Eric Fehrnstrom and Kevin Madden on CNN and ABC, respectively. Look for guest host Jake Tapper to press her on how everyone in the world apparently misunderstood Biden’s racial pander about “chains.”

If you’re not up for that, tune to CBS and enjoy as Rudy Giuliani continues to gently remind the nation that Biden’s a moron. The full schedule via the LA Times:

State of the Union Medicare; taxes; 2012 election: Romney advisor: Eric Fehrnstrom; Obama advisor Stephanie Cutter. Romney-Ryan Ticket; combative tone of campaigns: former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.). Moderator: Jim Acosta…

Meet the Press Tone of campaigns: Gov. Martin O’Malley (D-Md.); Gov. Bob McDonnell (R-Va.). Panel: Mayor Kasim Reed (D-Atlanta); Senate nominee Ted Cruz (R-Texas); E.J. Dionne; Peggy Noonan; Chuck Todd.

This Week 2012 campaign: Obama advisor Stephanie Cutter; Romney advisor Kevin Madden. Sen. Patrick J. Toomey (R-Pa.); Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.). Panel: Author Neil Barofsky (“Bailout”); Austan Goolsbee; Grover Norquist; Kimberley Strassel. Moderator Jake Tapper.

Fox News Sunday 2012 campaign: Romney campaign advisor Ed Gillespie; Obama campaign advisor Robert Gibbs. Obama campaign advisor Stuart Stevens. Panel: Bill Kristol; Joe Trippi; Karl Rove; former Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.)…

Face the Nation 2012 campaign: Obama supporter Sen. Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.); Mitt Romney supporter former Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R-N.Y.). Taxes: Grover Norquist, Americans for Tax Reform; Neera Tanden, Center for American Progress. Outside spending on campaigns: Kim Barker, Propublica. Panel: John Dickerson; Niall Ferguson, Newsweek; Jeff Zeleny, the New York Times; Nia Malika-Henderson.

Maybe Tapper will ask Cutter why Pres Blightbringer has done 1/3 the amount of Press Confs vs. Clinton and Bush…at least a little dagger to her side..

Stuart Stevens is not a Barry advisor. He is with Team Romney.

Do not know why a statement of Barry from his speech yesterday in New Hampshire did not draw any attention or reaction:

“Ryan/Romney’s plan) would be a plan in which you could not count on health care because it would have to come out of your pocket”

This reflects as much of Barry’s core as “you did not build that” and ” shared prosperity”.

Things would only be counted on if it is free or had come out of other people’s pocket? You cannot count on your house because payments on it come out of your pocket?

Now I have NO time for politics. Other than coming to Hot Air

Watching these idiots on both sides of the aisle is a waste of time.

Although, I might have to tape the program Madden is on. Am curious what he looks and sounds like after he took a hatchet to Palin a few times. I wonder if he is short. One of my theories of life is to “never trust a short man, they are always trying to prove how tall they are” – applies to some women also.

I would seriously love to watch that plastic smile that Stephanie “Cookie” Cutter wears on her face all the time slowly disappear and a subtle yet distinct trickle of sweat start to run down her face when she begins to realize the line of questioning she is getting are not the nice softballs she was expecting to get from the usually compliant MSM, but hardballs aimed square at her thick skull.

Because everyone is now tired of the lying and the smoke-and-mirrors, and they want hard answers to very tough questions.

Catching Jake on This Week. Kevin Madden is incredibly feeble. After Cutter “defended” Biden by mocking Rudy’s fulsome praise of Palin in 2008, he just took it, almost as if he agreed with her. The correct answer is to say he’ll take Palin’s resume over Biden’s (or Obama’s, for that matter) any day! Why does Mitt have such lame spokesmen? Sununu would have been much more effective. Madden is just not up to speed on details and can’t effectively counter the Dem’s talking points. They seem to be in “let’s not offend independents” mode. Sad.

Further proof that Fox News projection on Fox News Sunday is accurate:

Obama 257 EV

Romney 182 EV

Rasmussen daily tracking poll today:

Obama 45%

Romney 43%

3rd party 5%

Undecided 7%

The lowest level of support for Romney since March 2012.

Obama leads Romney by 10 points among unaffiliated (independent) voters. In the 2010 midterm House elections the GOP got 56% of the independent vote and the Dems 37%. That is a turnaround of 29 points.

And Romney is about to lead us to the Promised Land. I don’t think so.

Kevin Madden is incredibly feeble.

Understatement of the year. He needs to go do polling or something and get off the air. Mitt, time to juggle the lineup. Madden, Eric Fehrstrom, and Andrea Saul are not good at promoting or defending you from liars like Stephanie Cutter (and pretty much all Obama advisors).

Philly on August 19, 2012 at 10:28 AM

holy he** is CNN full of it. they just did a segment about how past presidential elections have been quite negative, implying that obama’s attacks are par for the course. No mention of how in 08 Obama was supposed to usher in a new kind of politics. No mention of the accusations of murder and felony.

Exit quote (paraphrase): It is not that the negative attacks have started earlier this election season, but the complaining about these attacks have.

The media really does do obama’s bidding

Maybe Paul Ryan was selected because they are both etch a sketch politicians:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p09X8hohvVo&feature=player_embedded

We have a lot of laid off workers, and more layoffs are occurring. And we know, as a historical fact, that even if our economy begins to slowly recover, unemployment is going to linger on and on well after that recovery takes place. What we have been trying to do starting in October and into December and now is to try and get people back to work. The things we’re trying to pass in this bill are the time-tested, proven, bipartisan solutions to get businesses to stop laying off people, to hire people back, and to help those people who have lost their jobs. . . .
We’ve got to get the engine of economic growth growing again because we now know, because of recession, we don’t have the revenues that we wanted to, we don’t have the revenues we need, to fix Medicare, to fix Social Security, to fix these issues. We’ve got to get Americans back to work. Then the surpluses come back, then the jobs come back. That is the constructive answer we’re trying to accomplish here on, yes, a bipartisan basis.
Watch it:

In other words, under Bush stimulus works. Under Obama it doesn’t. Again, I know I know. This isn’t about any actual facts or about any actual principles, this is about how cute Paul Ryan looks while hanging out with his mother in Florida and getting white seniors to trust him more than Obama. Fine, whatever. But it just goes to show how cynical the GOP is. Et tu principled conservatives?

Sure gilled one sure. If I was at the machine right now instead of this iPad thingy, I would gladly post several comments of yours, to prove you a liar. Perhaps when I return home. Three such criticisms since yesterday alone. You are as caddy a fish as I have ever whitnessed. How old are you. Are your best days that far behind you?Bread ball?

Bmore on August 19, 2012 at 10:23 AM

Sigh. Never understand why some immature women like you act out like that. It’s not very becoming. For one day can you try to refrain from childish insults? Oh, and it’s spelled catty.

Fox is still assuming that Obama is +9 in Florida after four years,
they shouldn’t have dumped Opinion Dynamics,

mcconell did a terrible job against omalley. For a first timer cruz did great!

renalin on August 19, 2012 at 10:24 AM

Agreed. McDonell was too milquetoasty. They need to unleash Christie on these morning shows. Or Sununu.

O’Malley is a shiny but slimey weasel, it’s hard to deal with that sort of weasel, sometimes,

narciso on August 19, 2012 at 10:44 AM

dems on the panel saw nothing racial in what biden said

Good grief, what a loon that S. Cutter is. She lies so fast, I can’t keep up!!

Tapper defers to her a lot also. The game plan seems to be attack, attack, attack.

Glad Madden is able to bring some sanity to the discussion.

Tapper asking Cutter to clear something up for him, ROFL
