Video: Say Anything. I’ll Listen.

posted at 12:41 pm on August 15, 2012 by Mary Katharine Ham

A palate-cleanser from my friend Kelly Maher of RevealingPolitics.com and me. At his first fundraising event in Denver, Colo., Ryan encountered what Andrea Mitchell thinks doesn’t exist— support from women. He was several floors up, but someone thought she knew how to get his attention:

For more on this important subject, please visit Hey Girl, It’s Paul Ryan. Thanks to NakedDC’s E.M. Zanotti for that gem of a meme.

Put Kelly on your frequent reads list. Her team is the one that stumped Obama supporters on the birth control question last week.

And, I should have also tipped my hat to Ben Howe for the fab editing. Thanks!

I love it!!!! I have the biggest smile on my face right now. And I have to tell you, those shots of Paul Ryan…it just got hotter in here too.

OT: Did anyone see Rachel maddow last night. I know, I know. But I was flipping to see what the other side was saying and it was so weird. She had this naked male chest shot grapic behind her. It was huge, took up the whole wall and she was talking a mile a minute. I thought for sure she had gotten into Obama’s coke stash. And she was going on about Ayn Rand and how its all about how great rich people are and you should want great stuff for rich people. But I haven’t seen anthing about it on line and now I’m wondering if I dreamed it all. Anyone see this?

So, how are the seats on that short bus anyway? I always wondered if they were comfortable, but even more important, do they have seat belts? I doubt they did on your short bus since it’s obvious you must have slammed your head on the metal seat back in front of you many, many times to have caused such brain injury on top of your mental genetic defects.

DumboTheAvenger on August 15, 2012 at 12:52 PM

This is kinda weird though. Palin supporters (especially male ones) are constantly accused of supporting her only because of sexual fantasies they have about her, since she’s so hot and everything.

MKH: About three pictures down in that Hey Girl link, there’s a picture of Ryan’s wife with a caption beginning as follows:

Because Obama would never succumb to the “advice” of conservatives, especially not if it came from Sarah Palin.

And, he won’t replace Biden with HilRod because Moochelle and ValJar (the real president) wouldn’t want her on the ticket.

@earlgrey133: I wouldn’t call it high brow classical. It’s actually sentimental, romantic dance music from the 1930s and 1940s, but astringent and artful enough to escape the disdain of culture snobs. Probably an acquired taste. If I can find a really aristocratic-looking female to dance with me I usually fantasize that when it’s over she’ll kiss me tenderly and then request that I be shot.

Annie Provencher, 60, a retired cashier from St. Pauls, N.C., voted for Bill Clinton and for Democrat John Kerry in 2004. She didn’t vote in 2008, and she’s not sure she will this time. She knows she doesn’t like Obama but isn’t sure about Romney. She plans to rely on the advice of her sister, who lives in Massachusetts, on how Romney did as governor.
If Hillary Clinton were running, she volunteers, “I’d be back there, the first one in line when the polls opened.”

This would be what I would be worried about with Hilliary being put on the ticket.

It’s really a fun message, that’s all: it’s a welcome change from the crustiness and “having to walk on broken glass to vote for him” McCain campaign epic. Ryan makes it great again to actually enjoy watching and listening to (and voting for) a conservative man for all the right reasons. Plus he’s great looking so that certainly doesn’t dampen the enthusiasm.

It’s just an expression of “feeling good again” about voting, supporting the campaign, anticipating a new Administration with enthusiasm.

It’s not lust or “fevah,” it’s simple “feel good” sentiment.

Annie Provencher, 60, a retired cashier from St. Pauls, N.C., voted for Bill Clinton and for Democrat John Kerry in 2004…
If Hillary Clinton were running, she volunteers, “I’d be back there, the first one in line when the polls opened.”

This would be what I would be worried about with Hilliary being put on the ticket.

It’s some of the “bra burning” generation who hangs on to this day. They were exactly like they are today back in 1970. Thus, Hillary Clinton appeals to them because she’s one of their kind — she’s the same clique from the same generation, same politics, same dated bad ideas.

Not everyone from that age/time is today the same as that, not what I’m saying, but that with the “Hillary appeal,” it seems to be the same sort of people from that time who identify with her for obtuse reasons.

It’ll never happen. She’ll only run if she’s the top of the ticket. However, it could lead to interesting infighting. Bill Clinton would then suggest that HE be the VP. R&R vs. C&C. OH YEAH!

I hope they did that in one take, boom boxes can get heavy after a while.

I HATE that song. Gah.

For those who have commented that they “don’t get it”, and didn’t follow the link provided partway through the comments…

Say Anything” is a 1989 high-school movie with John Cusack as a working-class loser who falls for an over-achieving girl whom he knows is out of his league, but goes for it anyway. The poster-shot of his attempt to get her attention, features him holing up a boom-box playing that same song, dressed in that same way as the girl in this clip.

Well played, Hammer, well played.
