Special ops group scolds White House: Stop the leaks and the bragging

posted at 2:41 pm on August 15, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

As we enter into presidential debate season and start hearing more discussions about foreign policy, we’re bound to be regaled — ahem, yet again — with the oh-so-epic tale of how President Obama made the decision to take out Osama bin Laden (i.e., “ask Osama bin Laden if I engage in appeasement“). But the White House’s version of events, together with all of the security leaks dripping out of the White House in recent months, haven’t done much to win the military and intelligence community over to President Obama’s favor. A group of former U.S. intelligence and Special Forces operatives called OPSEC is launching a media campaign to highlight the dangers of these high-level leaks in posing real threats to American lives, starting with a 22-minute film they released on their website today. Dang:

The OPSEC group says it is not political and aims to save American lives. Its first public salvo is a 22-minute film that includes criticism of Obama and his administration. …

“Mr. President, you did not kill Osama bin Laden, America did. The work that the American military has done killed Osama bin Laden. You did not,” Ben Smith, identified as a Navy SEAL, says in the film.

“As a citizen, it is my civic duty to tell the president to stop leaking information to the enemy,” Smith continues. “It will get Americans killed.”

An Obama campaign official said: “No one in this group is in a position to speak with any authority on these issues and on what impact these leaks might have, and it’s clear they’ve resorted to making things up for purely political reasons.” …

Following the film’s release, OPSEC’s spokesmen said, the group expects to produce TV spots on the anti-leak theme that will air in a number of states, including Virginia, Florida, Ohio, Colorado, North Carolina and Nevada – key battleground states.

No one in this group is in a position to speak with any authority on these issues? Err, really? You don’t suppose Navy SEALs, CIA officers, and military commanders aren’t perhaps in the best position to speak about the dangers of high-level security leaks and the importance of safeguarding both our gathered intelligence and our individuals?

The White House has insisted that nobody from their ranks was involved in dishing out sensitive information to the media, but even so, they’ve failed to really get to the bottom of the matter. Publicity like this could definitely do something to put a damper on their credibility come foreign-policy discussion-time this fall. Ouch.

Well if the White House would release the public information on these leaks, or appoint a special investigator, we would be able to find and stop those leaks.

The truth is, it was revealed by this White House, for political reasons, that Seal Team Six was responsible for eliminating OBL. Al Qaida responded by setting them up in an ambush in Afghanistan where they killed THIRTY-ONE members of the military, and TWENTY of them were Seal Team Six.

Those thirty-one deaths are on President Jackass McChoomer’s head.

A coward may die a thousand deaths, while the brave only once. But what about those that brag about being brave, what about the “hero” that yells it from the rooftop that he is… a hero. A man who rescues a baby from a burning building, when asked “how does it feel to be a hero?” always responds something to effect of “I’m no hero…”, unless you’re O!

The way that the Obama administration has dealt with the military has been cavalier at best and despicable at worst.

The administration has consistently made it clear that they regard our military personnel as expendable units, collateral, and nothing more.

For this administration to undermine the safety and undermine the effectiveness of these units at all, much less for political brinksmanship, is despicable.

These are brave Americans who have CHOSEN to serve this nation, regardless of the many sacrifices attached to that service, even at the risk of great harm or even death.

They deserve a commander in chief who respects them and the many sacrifices they make for this country, from the strains on their family lives to the personal risks inherent in the work they do for this nation.

Rather than a Commander-In-chief who obviously views them as mere collateral, they deserve a Commander-In-Chief who will make an extraordinary effort to protect them, always seeking means to minimize the tremendous risks inherent in achieving their assigned goals, and assist them in realizing those goals in any way possible.

How convenient. Just like “Executive Privilege” shielding the Fast & Furious documents.

GarandFan on August 15, 2012 at 3:10 PM

OK, so I was watching the video, and one thing became incredibly painfully clear. Those brave and valiant warriors who participated in the making of this video are laboring under the delusion that the leaks out of the Oval office/Whitehouse are designed for the political gain of Barack Obama.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Barack Obama, while still a candidate for the office of President of the United States of America made it 100 percent perfectly clear that in any conflict that involves Islam, he would be on the side of Islam.

Moreover, those who having been paying attention are aware that Barack Obama has at every turn surrounded himself with Marxist fellow travelers. From his constant use of early 20th century Communist/Marxist talking point, Moving Forward, redistribution of Wealth, Social Justice, to his blatant statement just before being inaugurated where he promised to “Fundamentally Transform America”.

Barack Hussein Obama is the true “Manchurian Candidate” a Marxist who is intentionally committing TREASON, not for the purpose of political gain, as so many in this video suggest, but to destroy the American Constitutional Republic so that it can be replaced with a Marxist Utopian government.

SWalker on August 15, 2012 at 3:11 PM

JackForce on August 15, 2012 at 2:55 PM

Obviously, Obama’s responsible. And it’s a huuuge liability to his “re-election campaign” so, of course “the leaks” need to be somehow accommodated as acceptable and to be defended…

…because Obama is responsible for intelligence leaks. And the military knows it.

To add to that, “the leaks” are assisting Obama’s plans. Which is why they’re occuring in the first place.

Good for the military for speaking out about this.

All I can say about Obama is he’s a worm.

Truly beginning to wonder if “The Man” (aka the Holder/Napolitano Team) isn’t playing around…have had three submissions simply disappear in the past 20 minutes…

One has to wonder, and worry, about a president who routinely allows celebrities, friends, campaign contributors into the White House Situation Room, and whose “staff” is hell-bent on doing everything they can to make Obama look like the second-coming of Christ, still.

Movie producers allowed access to highly classified information in order to make a film glorifying Obama?

And…former SEALs, former CIA officers (thank you) and other assorted intelligence professionals are in no position to speak with any authority on these issues and on what impact these leaks might have?

But, Valerie Jarrett is?

Actually when Bush “took out” Zarqawi in Iraq, he let the Iraqi Prime Minister make the announcement.

And well after he did, Bush did say this:

“He turned Iraq into a place where al-Qaida could wage war against free nations.”

And after Bush “took out” Zarqawi in Iraq, he only got a 5 point bump in his job approval. That’s the same 5 point bump in job approval O’bama got after he personally murdered bin Laden.

However, in the case of O’bama and bin laden, his Democrat Media Stenographer al-Associated Press ran a push-poll that sampled almost twice as many Democrats as Republicans in order to get that result.

What’s so hypocritical about your side is that after Bush “took out” Zarqawi, you all whined that it was “no big deal”, and that “Bush was creating more terrorists”; this din was especially loud from academia and the Democrat “historians” who would later totally ignore your Boy Wonder O’bama continuing many of Bush’s Evil anti-terror policies. And after O’bama is long gone, those shills will continue to say that his continuation of Bush policies was “no big deal”. What a bunch of hypocrites.

To say that he’s saying “America” did because the American military is a government entity is silly. It’s particularly silly because the guy references “Mr President”, another government entity, in saying it.

Listen, the abstract idea behind both statements is that not one person accomplished a big task; there’s a support system in place that allows for success.

In both situation, the success was driven by “America”. Whether what was successful was private or public is immaterial to what supported the success.

Even more so, the argument you’re making is that private enterprise should privately invest in the infrastructure they need to be successful.

Imbecile, it”s right there, in their definitions but tou are too much of a low information type to understand the distionctions..businesses are PRIVATE, and of course their owners and only them are responsible for what they built/create and for their successes, and definitely not this SCOAMF of a president, or generically put it, America….it’s their individual achievement, not the country’s achievement, if you get that….military operations, secret or otherwise are publicly funded, and carried out by people who, like it or not, work for the federal governmenf…yep, said operations are paid with taxpayers’ money, in case you are unaware of it, it doesn’t matter who the heck is the particular CIC at the time, these people (military, special forces, etc) would do the same job in the service of the country, that’s what they are there, that’s their only purpoe, that’s what they are paid for….but in order to do their job, the particular administration has to let them do it and create a climate where their work and lives are not jeopardized and/or sacrificed on the altar of an NPD-afflicted empty suit of a presidemt, with the ego the size of the building he inhabits…so, for this mediocre president to go out there and take credit for something that these people do for a living, is not only unconceivable and symptomatic of a lot of chutzpah, but it’s idiotic too, to say the least….he didn’t do shite, he has people there, in the chain of command who prepared and planned these operations and who made all the necessary decisions for him, and it’s ok, they do these fo any president, not just his one in particular…. so then, do the only sensible thing and what Gates so expertly urged and shut the f…up already…and then carry on with the job….

No, no, no, no and no, lots of countries in this world, what am I saying, pretty much all the countries in the world have a system of public infrastructure in place and a aupport network fhat they pay collectively or publicly for, yet they are not as successful as America, some are actually poor countries (yes, with public infrastructures) or they are lead by authoritadian or autocratic regimes that are not good for or friendly to bussinesses in general.take countries like Bahrain, Qatar, the Arab Emirates, or Venezuela, they all have superb infrastructure built with oil money, but would you go and invest there, without fear that your business would be nationalized or confiscated on a whim of their leaders…so, it’s not the infrastructure, stupid…they all have that…it’s rather what Romney said, that America is an idea, and this is what is behind the amazing success of these bussinesses here, that and the freedom, and the immense creativity and hard work of their owners and builders. I blame the media wanting to tell all so we can give them a gold star to show off. The japanese secret code of WW II was printed to the world by The Chicago Tribune, imagine the lives lost. The secret English code was broken by Germany but the English refused to believe it for six months because they could not believe such a sophisticated code could be broken and more ships and men went to the bottom of the sea. Such arrogance. The Tribune claimed freedom of speech but where do we draw the line of insanity vs freedom. When Bin Laden was taken out the media proudly announced that we took the hard drives that had all that secret stuff from his hideout, again all that intell was lost because it was not kept secret. When the media discovered that our intelligence people were listening to terrorists phone calls the media went crazy screaming we were violating the rights of terrorists. Again the intell went ice cold. Why is it we cannot get it across to these people that some things need to be kept quiet.

Exactly right.

More than this to take down the United States the last defense against Marxism in the world.

Ezra Taft Bensen met with the Soviets they told him that within a couple of generations they would make America a Marxist country. They told him how they would do it as well. They would get control of Higher Education. They would then get control of lower education. They would destroy morality in the United States. They would use Higher Education to take over the Courts.

All of this is in place. Unfortunately in this election it is the Pot or the Frying Pan. Mitt is just as Marxist as Obama. He interpreted for the North Vietnamese. He called himself a Liberal Progressive to the left of two Democrats and won the second time. As Governor he was totally progressive.

If you believe Obama is dangerous because of Marxism how on earth can you support Mitt Romney. There is only one thing to the left of a Democrat a Marxist.

“Mr. President, you did not kill Osama bin Laden, America did.”
Suck on that, Pantload…!

Seven Percent Solution on August 15, 2012 at 2:57 PM

King Barry did less during the raid than professional sports coaches do during championship games. Yet, you never see those coaches claim all the credit for the victory their players achieved.

Nutstuyu on August 15, 2012 at 6:33 PM

Mr. President,

You didn’t kill Osama on your own. You didn’t kill Osama on your own. I’m always struck by how you think, ‘well it must be because I was just so smart.’ There are a lot of smart soldiers out there. ‘It must be because I worked harder than everybody else’ Let me tell you something – there are a whole bunch of hardworking soldiers out there.

If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. If you’ve got a victory over terrorism — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.

Sincerely,

StargazerA5

Libtards: y’all Just Don’t Get It. If you skrew over the military they will skrew you back ten-fold.

Your traitorous leaking for political gain is despicable. And the military will grind your faces into the filth that you’ve created by your treasonous actions.

Mark my words: This issue will become your Obama Campaign’s 2012 Swiftboat.

CatchAll on August 15, 2012 at 8:41 PM

“No one in this group is in a position to speak with any authority on these issues and on what impact these leaks might have, and it’s clear they’ve resorted to making things up for purely political reasons.”

Actually, I would suggest the Obama people are in no position to speak with any authority on what impact their leaks might have on the lives of American servicemen, particularly current special ops members. The most dangerous thing they do on a weekly basis is show up for their manicures.

Daaaang. Ben Smith is (justifiably) pissed.

I hate when the military feels compelled to come out against CIC.

Cindy Munford on August 15, 2012 at 3:00 PM

Cindy, folks of the 82ND Airborne, the 82ND CAB, people I know are chomping at the bits for anyone to ask them what they thought of the ROE for their last deployment. People from those organizations I talk with weekly blame every death caused by indirect fire during their year deployment on the ROE the Obama Administration implemented.

“No one in this group is in a position to comment .” — as if President Pantywaist knew what was happening – he was on the golf course and had to be brought in to cower in the corner. This was after stalling for months trying to decide what to do. Everything this clown does is based on how he can benefit from it – that’s all he cares about. They’ll have to drag him from WH while he cries and clings to the drapes.

Lots of lies and disrespect going on in this thread. The video is disgusting and dangerous. Indefensible.

Remember when Obama patted Medvedev on the knee and told him to tell “Vladimir” that Obama could be more flexible in his 2nd term? Well, “Vladimir” got the message that Obama is weak!

Russian attack submarine sailed in Gulf of Mexico undetected for weeks, U.S. officials say

A Russian nuclear-powered attack submarine armed with long-range cruise missiles operated undetected in the Gulf of Mexico for several weeks and its travel in strategic U.S. waters was only confirmed after it left the region, the Washington Free Beacon has learned.

It is only the second time since 2009 that a Russian attack submarine has patrolled so close to U.S. shores.

The stealth underwater incursion in the Gulf took place at the same time Russian strategic bombers made incursions into restricted U.S. airspace near Alaska and California in June and July, and highlights a growing military assertiveness by Moscow. The submarine patrol also exposed what U.S. officials said were deficiencies in U.S. anti-submarine warfare capabilities—forces that are facing cuts under the Obama administration’s plan to reduce defense spending by $487 billion over the next 10 years.

What’s the mystery, here? Isn’t it clear by now that Odumdum is TRYING to weaken America? He’s trying to clue our enemies in to our operations, so that they can defeat our efforts. He’s trying to keep gasoline expensive, so that he can enrich his friends, and fellow muslims, at the expense of America. He’s “redistributing” America’s wealth to his muslim pals. There’s no mystery. The guy’s a traitor.
