“We can win North Carolina again!” says Biden… in Virginia

posted at 1:21 pm on August 14, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

Who hasn’t had some sort of rockstar-esque, “Thank you, Cincinnat– er, Denver!” slip-of-the-tongue moment of public-speaking horror, and Vice President Joe Biden was stumping in North Carolina yesterday. And, North Carolina and Virginia are similar in electoral weight, their usually-quite-reddish-but-lately-more-purplish recent histories, and their too-close-to-call swing statuses… but, still: It’s Biden. It’s kind of funny.

“With you, we can win North Carolina again, and if we do, we win the election!”

I think I saw him realize what he said and blanch for just a split second there, but he just decided to roll with it. Heh. Anyway, I merely point this out in light of the recent revelation that Joe Biden and Paul Ryan are going to have to debate one another on the national stage soon, and if this sort of melodramatic, populist silliness is the best defense Joe Biden can offer on the Obama economy…

…then Paul Ryan is going to absolutely obliterate him. [Rubs hand together and laughs gleefully.]

Very sad.

Speaking of Vice Presidents, I just finished watching Paul Ryan address a crowd in Colorado. It was streamed on Fox. He was awesome, and the reaction of the crowd, which included a lot of young people, was incredible. They cheered and hollered their support the whole speech. If you can see it don’t miss the chance!

Waiting for Axelrod to figure out a concise way to explain that Obama stealing 716 billion from medicare to fund Obamacare they don’t want is a better deal than Ryan slowly phasing out Medicare aand replacing it with vouchers or letting Americans keep that money to fund their own retirement….

if every working American were released from the wage slavery they are beholden to the US government for they’d have an instant spare 25% to ply with….

an 18 year old investing half that could buy his own insurance and pension for his life in most cases and we could cut vouchers at a minimum for those working poor who couldn’t….

they simply cannot win this….

they can make noise but they are cornered and counting on Americans staying stupid….

well Americans may not pay attention to the jackals but we’re gonna give ‘em a primer on what is really going on.

The fact that the polls are not running away from Barry is good. Romney does not want to peak too soon. And it will make it less likely that Barry will try a desperate move such as replacing SloJoe with Hillary.

Actually in the second video, Biden says Romney is going to unchain Wall street,

I am sure I heard Romney say that the problem with the regulations and Wall street is that they are not up to date and the old laws were not enforced properly/hard to enforce…like with everything else, he proposes stream lining and bringing financial regulations up to date…

and then Biden says something like “Ah ain’t no Ways Tired” like mrs. Clinton except he says something that sound oddly like he is the plantation owner????

kpguru on August 14, 2012 at 2:04 PM

But about gay marriage, where intensity is running higher than ever against it, and among persuadable independents, to reiterate, we won’t lose votes by taking a stand. Romney needs to stop running away from issues because that will reinforcing his reputation for doing just that. And Ryan is not necessarily the panacea for Romney’s Mush problem.
We are not making the election about social issues. We are making it about a choice between the left and the right. Now, if Mitt decides that he wants to selectively edit out certain aspects of what is “the right,” in the public’s eye this left / right choice will get fuzzy, and people will revert to seeing Romney as “coreless,” and the election will become a unwinnable fight about personalities and likeability. Track on multiple issues! And take firm stands like you mean it!

anotherJoe on August 14, 2012 at 1:49 PM

He’s not running away from issues, he’s talking about what happens to concern people the most at the moment. And you’re clearly not paying attention to what he’s saying, especially since the Ryan selection. He has made it into a choice, even talking about how the liberals would turn the country into California if they could.

Talking about gay marriage just makes this less about Obama and the need to make a change.

While it’s going to be a painful uphill climb, the media will do whatever it has to do to paint Crazy Uncle Joe as a “foreign policy expert” with mucho “gravitas” to contrast him with Ryan. Does anyone think it’s an accident that the moderator of the VP debate is a foreign affairs correspondent?

The trouble in video clip One, is that we can only imagine that vp Biden had only a short car ride that day, and he did not know where he was going?

(Sing:)

They made up their minds
And they started packing
They left before the sun came up that day
An exit to eternal summer slacking
But where where they going without ever knowing the way

They drank up the wine and they got to talking
They now had more important things to say
And when the car broke down they started walking
But where were they going without ever knowing the way

Anyone can see the road that they walked on is pegged in gold
And its always summer, it never gets cold
And never get hungry, and never get old
And they..

You can see their shawdows wandering off somewhere
Wont make it home, but they really dont care
Walking the highway, happy their there
today, today

Children woke up and they couldn’t find them
they left before the sun came up that day
they just drove off and left it all behind them
where were they going without ever knowing the way

Anyone can see the road that they walked on is pegged in gold
And its always summer, it never gets cold
And never get hungry, and never get old
And they..

You can see their shawdows wandering off somewhere
Wont make it home, but they really dont care
Walking the highway, happy their there
today, today

Fastball

The fact that Joe Biden is an idiot is not news. He’s always good for a few laughs, but what he did yesterday is one of the most despicable, low and cynical acts committed in the history of American politics.

That this POS got on a stage and said, with a straight face; that the GOP wants to, in effect; re-institute chattel slavery, is an outrage! I’m not one to engage in hyperbole, but am I the only one who finds this beyond outrageously offensive?

Biden and the DNC must issue an apology immediately, not only to Romney and the GOP, but to the the African-American community who’s intelligence he insulted on a grand scale. And what part of Delaware Joe’s dialect came from?

Another one you might have missed is yesterday’s UNH/WMUR New Hampshire poll.

O’bama won here by 10 in 2008. And in April he was leading Romney by 9.

O’bama and Romney are now in a statistical tie.

But more important for Romney, NH working women have broken for him over O’bama. And there are twice as many of them here in NH as there are women with college degrees, who will vote O’bama.

Del Dolemonte on August 14, 2012 at 2:30 PM

“The fact that the polls are not running away from Barry is good. Romney does not want to peak too soon.”

Let the Dems believe in their rigged polls and talking media poodles, and feel complacent, while that energizes our side. Jaques Kerry’s self-delusion from the exit polls in 2004 caused him to in effect declare the election legitimate when he thought he had won… and then made it tough to scream foul when it turned out he had not.

The real question for the more discerning conservative is which vintage of media tears will taste sweeter; those from a wire-to-wire Romney landslide, or those from a premature Obama victory celebration that ends in a loss? As a bonus, the latter would of course result in the most devoted of the media lapdogs briefly enjoying other more exquisite forms of premature experiences.

but, still: It’s Biden. It’s kind of funny.

Not a big deal… but still kinda stupid.

We were just glad to get Biden out of NC. I got kind of scared there for a second… did he sneak back in?

Maybe if Biden had said it in Austrian, it would have made more sense.

At least North Carolina is a real state.

mankai on August 14, 2012 at 4:00 PM

Biden is the gift that keeps on giving.

Sharp_Right_Turn on August 14, 2012 at 4:02 PM

Warm up for some faux outrage…over something Joe said.

It’s harder than you think, faking outrage while laughing at the guy.

Liberals have it easy. Outrage comes naturally when paired with paranoia and resentment.

“b-b-but… SARAH PALINNNNN!!!!1111″ -liberals

anyway, i can’t wait for the ryan vs biden debate. well i am interested in the romney/obama debate too of course! but, this vp debate will surely be interesting. it will be fun watching biden pretend he’s smart…

Here’s the thing that bothers me-everyone, both sides of the aisle, and the media, let Biden’s remarks often go unchallenged and just go, “Ah, well, that’s just Joe!” NO. I get a lot of folks have only gotten deeply involved in politics the last few years, and that is great, but I’m an oldie on this junk, let me explain something-Biden isn’t just a gaffe machine. He’s an ugly, dirty, dirty politician. He shows this affable crazy old uncle shizz, but he is just a more powerful, more nuanced Debby Washerwoman Shultz. I don’t know if there’s any good history just on Joe floating around on the net, all I can say is, his presidential run? People need to check out some of those old debates and interviews.

di butler on August 14, 2012 at 4:10 PM

Not a gaffe, just an unintended announcement of Obama’s southern strategy: transport the voters from state to state.

UnrepentantCurmudgeon on August 14, 2012 at 4:15 PM

Every time Joltin’ Joe comes up, I can’t help thinking, “somewhere, there’s gotta be a village desperately searching for it’s idiot…”

psrch on August 14, 2012 at 4:29 PM

The Crazy Clown is just begging barack to replace him on the ticket with Shrillery so he won’t have to debate Paul Ryan. Just begging.

Maybe we can get Sally Struthers to find a village in Africa that needs a new idiot…wait, make that 2 villages. They’ll be available for delivery in late January 2013. We might even remember to poke some air holes in the boxes.

CitizenEgg on August 14, 2012 at 4:56 PM

Biden’s not going anywhere, Obama can’t dump him unless Joe is on board. No one is going to want their legacy in history as the dumped Vice President a few weeks before the election. A public fight on this would instantly sink them.

Also, who’s Obama going to replace him with? Hillary knows if she wants to be the Democrat nominee, it’s hers in 2016. Does she really want to risk watching her credibility sink with Obama. It’s a lose/lose for her chances in 2016 to be on Obama’s ticket.

They’re stuck with him, and Ryan only makes Biden look more pathetic.

God Bless you North Carolina, stand up if you’re out there…

Oh, oh. I am … so, so sorry.

Was this really worthy of a post, Erika?

“Please welcome the next President of the United States…
Paul Ryan!”

Um, that was covered in comments.

Are you sure he wasn’t just kidding about Obama saying it here. I forget which of the 57 states he said it from though.

hawkdriver on August 14, 2012 at 5:30 PM

It gets even better-Uncle Joe also spouted today that he’s a NASCAR fan!

Politico:

At a campaign stop in Stuart, Va., Vice President Joe Biden was so excited to meet a NASCAR owner that he ordered the press corp to scatter.

“Get out of the way man,” Biden said “good-naturedly” to a photographer upon entering The Coffee Break Cafe, according to a pool report filed by POLITICO’s Jonathan Martin. “Get out of the way.”

Biden then approached restaurant patron Glen Wood, the owner of a car that won the Daytona 500 in 2011.

“I heard somebody in here won the Daytona!” Biden said.

“This guy did what I dreamed of, man,” Biden said. “I’d trade being vice-president in a heartbeat for having won Daytona.”

Heartache!

I see a serious illness in Joe’s future. He’ll need to spend some quality time with his family.

JPeterman on August 14, 2012 at 1:25 PM

Yep. That is why the MFM filters are finally letting Biden’s Daily Dose of Dumb-as-a-Doorknob see the light of day. They are peeing their pants in fear over the prospect of a Biden/Ryan debate.

Look for the drip-drip-drip of Biden gaffes to continue, until Team Zero is forced to drop him from the ticket.

Haiku Guy on August 14, 2012 at 5:48 PM

Biden is such a tool.

He’s like Mr. Carlson of WKRP.

That’s HotAir’s new Townhall.com imitation. See, they see a failing model and want to emulate it because MM, the “boss emeritus” isn’t calling the shots anymore and it’s the best way to sink a conservative ship. That, and hooking comments up to facebook so the only person that has any anonymity is Allahpundit.

Yes, all this pisses me off and I’m not letting it go until they do.
