Chris Matthews on Ryan: Hey, this guy could be worse than Dan Quayle

posted at 9:21 pm on August 14, 2012 by Allahpundit

Via Newsbusters, concern-trolling so lazy that it doesn’t make sense even on its own terms. His point, per this morning’s Politico piece on “the Republican Party’s Bedwetter Caucus,” is that Ryan could be poison for the GOP. Okay, then … why cite Quayle? Bush 41 won in a landslide, remember? When push came to shove, for all the jokes made about him, Quayle wasn’t a drag on the ticket. For that matter, why cite Tom Eagleton? How many states would McGovern have lost if the Eagleton thing had never happened? 48 instead of 49? If anything, he and Quayle stand for the proposition that a controversial VP pick just doesn’t matter much to the nominee’s chances.

Beyond that, you can practically see the lightbulb over his head go off as he tries to jumpstart a narrative that choosing Ryan undercuts Romney’s business record specifically. What kind of CEO, after all, would bet his business on such a risky investment? Possible answer: A CEO whose “business” was already struggling and who spotted a chance for a high reward in return for assuming a greater-than-anticipated risk. Ask yourself, how confident would you have felt about Romney’s chances if he had gone the safe route and chosen Pawlenty or Portman? Ryan’s a better retail politician than either of them and he brings a sense of purpose to the ticket that would have been utterly lacking otherwise. Without him, the entire remainder of the campaign would have been an exercise in killing time until election day and then hoping there are enough “anybody but Obama” votes floating around out there to deliver victory. That doesn’t feel like a winning dynamic. Ryan brings huge liabilities but huge assets too, and greatly boosts Romney’s chances of having a meaningful presidency. Why not roll the dice?

On a balmy summer night our secret camera probes the hallways of Chris Matthews’ house. The camera approaches the door leading to the master bedroom.

A flickering light can be seen emanating from under the door, indicating a television being viewed. A voice, the voice of Barack Obama, seeming to come from the television, can be heard:

“I…I’m so in love with you.”

Then comes another sound from beyond the door: “fap, fap, fap…”

Exactly.

Like all libs, they think toward a predetermined outcome. No other outcome is possible. Fact is only relevant when it supports that outcome only. But facts are after all facts and invariably they get confused and stop somewhere along the way because the facts don’t match up.

So they stand there, brain marble rolling sloooooowly back and forth. It is at that point that the cries of “racist” generally start and the predetermined outcome kinda gets lost in the faux debate.

Herr Hussein Obama’s campaign strategy is inadequate to maintain him in a serious action such as Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan will put to him. He has corruption in the coop, hate on the hoof, taqiyya on the tongue and bats in the belfry — that’s his campaign strategy. He can probably maintain himself in the type of fighting Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan will give him in Mexifornia and a few states on the North East front. After that it will make no difference how many thousands of dead he has voting for him early and often, and if Americans want America and the Presidency back, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan will give it to them. Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan will make Obama howl.

An excellent perspective on Obama, his policies and his aims.

I had started to write a similar comment on that for a headline thread back on the eight, Buy Danish, that began “Let’s talk about Obama’s War on the American People. Never in my life have I seen a politician so enthused about instigating an internecine feud by fomenting class warfare, and not just economic class, but also race, ethnicity, religion, sex, occupation, regional demographics, and political affiliation”, but to make it clear also made it quite lengthy and, needless to say, the thread was off the front page by the time I was only half done.

Also, needless to say, Greenfield does a much better job on this than I would have. Thanks for that link.

There is not a single Obama voter anywhere in the land who believes that another four years of him will make this country better. Not a single one from coast to coast. No, what they believe is that he will make the country a worse place for those people that they hate. That he will have four more years to sink their ideas deeper in the earth, regardless of how many families go hungry and how many fathers kill themselves because they can no longer take care of their families. What they believe is that Obama will grant their group more special privileges and the rest of the country can go to hell.

Socrates once said…”When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser.”

The idea that Ryan brings huge liabilities to the Romney campaign is nothing more than an MSM meme, that only spineless RINOs buy into.

When the Republicans are in power, they’re able to create a narrative, while the MSM tries to create a counter narrative to undermine them. When the Democrats are in power, they team up with the MSM to make sure that anything the Republicans try to say gets drowned out. If there’s skepticism about Ryan’s budget, this is the reason for it, nothing more.

Did the MSM give Ryan prime time TV slots to try to sell his budget to the American people, like they did on multiple occasions when Obama tried to sell Obamacare? Exactly when has Ryan had a chance to make his case without being cut off and shouted over by MSM talking heads and Democrat operatives?

I guess to the fainthearted among us, when Debbie Wasserman Schultz repeats a lie about Republicans over and over again in front of the camera, that constitutes some sort of legitimate hurdle that our side has to clear.

Sorry, don’t buy it. Man, I miss Breitbart.

Still, it would be great if Dan Quayle showed up and beat Chris with a sock full of potatoes.

Ryan brings huge liabilities but huge assets too, and greatly boosts Romney’s chances of having a meaningful presidency. Why not roll the dice?”

You are a such a weak knee jerk reactionary… Serioiusly man, get a grip, toughen up, and stop listening to the fools who say that Ryan is bringing huge liabilities and Romney is rolling the dice with Ryan… Yes, many of these fools are on our side and they claim to be expert… These morons know nothing…

As an official RINO of Hotair, I’m not sure what Ryan’s huge liabilities are. Someone needs to convince me of them so that I can perform job of being a RINO poster.
