MSNBC’s Mitchell: Ryan “not a pick for women”

posted at 3:31 pm on August 12, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

Just after Paul Ryan made his running-mate debut in front of the USS Wisconsin on Saturday, Andrea Mitchell reported back to MSNBC — and decreed that Romney’s selection means that “this is a base election. This is not a pick for suburban moms, this is not a pick for women.” …What the what?

In the name of all that is holy — stop presuming to speak for me. Please, please, please, liberal women, quit boxing me in to your stupid self-stereotypes. It never fails to mystify me as to why women could possibly be so eager to reduce the scope of their interests to such small-minded identifications. Oh, that’s right — most of them don’t, it’s just a stupid political ploy by the Left to make it seem like there’s no logical way that half of the population could group themselves with the Republican party.

According to progressives these days, it appears that the depth of my political sentience amounts to assuring free contraception and guaranteeing my right to get an abortion (because, duh, ‘we don’t want the government in our bedrooms’ and whatever). I suppose there isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that “suburban moms” could be more concerned with their children’s future in terms of their employment and wealth prospects and the overall fiscal solvency of the United States, than in terms of making sure a nanny state will cover the costs of their personal, private decisions. And goodness knows there aren’t any women who consider themselves a part of the conservative base — because any females who align themselves beneath such a banner clearly aren’t real women, or something. Facepalm.

She’s just doing what her Democrat masters have told her to do, the plan is to demonize “rich” people and tell women that they’re weak and worthless and need Democrats to take care of them and protect them from those evil Republicans. Combine that with the usual Democrat pandering to illegals and gays and college students and all your liberal special interests groups are covered.

You might find this hard to swallow but virtually all conservatives believe that the state should assist those groups.

Not in the post-tea party moment. As funny as that was meant to be…

In all seriousness, I think his sexuality was, and is, a non-issue to Andrea Mitchell. I think his own social position, which allows him and access to others in the political and social sphere, was of far greater import to Ms. Mitchell in her decision to marry him. That…and his own considerable wealth.

Andrea Mitchell epitomizes one of that breed of women counseled by others like Coco Chanel along the philosophical line of ‘One can never be too rich or too thin… dahling.’

She’d love to think of herself as relevant in the modern world… she just can’t quite make the leap. That would require real self reliance and independence.

Deep down… Ms. Mitchell still wants a man with a big portfolio and the ‘best’ circle of access ( as defined in her terms)…and she got him.

Why are women more likely to vote Dem than GOP and to align with liberalism more than fiscal conservatism?

Its things like this:

http://politics.heraldtribune.com/2012/04/26/scott-defends-veto-of-rape-crisis-center-money/

And this: apparently vagina is a dirty word:

http://detroit.cbslocal.com/2012/06/14/michigan-rep-censored-for-use-of-v-word/

Is mandating trans-vaginal ultrasounds. Conservatives have no one to blame but themselves for the gender gap. Just as Democrats historic opposition to guns goes a long way in explaining male support for the GOP. Why does no one think its “pandering to men” when we’re bombarded by images of Paul Ryan next to a deer corpse?

Ironic that you’d mention Head Start. That program has been shown to be of little, if any, usefulness. Longitudinal studies, performed by libs, have demonstrated that the HS program provides these kids with a temporary boost that disappears by the time they reach the mid-grade school years. But the goals of the program just sound so darn noble that the libs can’t let go. Therefore we must keep funding it every year, even though study after study proves it really is not worth the cost.

None of these Axelrod-fueled trolls ever even attempts to persuade anybody to Obama, because they are utterly incapable of it. They flail away at the perceived weaknesses of the GOP candidates with predictable talking points in some lame effort to dispirit conservatives from taking the time to vote in November–as if some child-hating, man-hating, abortion-loving pinhead like libfree or her sorority coven on Hot Air could ever persuade anybody of anything.

So Andrea, if Romney had picked Debbie Washerwoman Schultz would you say she was a pick for Women? As hard as it would be you wouldn’t, because there is no Candidate on the face of the earth or heaven that would be good enough for you. Romneys a Republican…

The collision left a gaping hole in the starboard side of USS Porter but no one was injured on either vessel, the U.S. Navy said in a statement. The collision with the Panamanian-flagged bulk oil tanker M/V Otowasan occurred at approximately 1 a.m. local time.

When conservatives talk about “government waste” they are talking specifically about programs that serve the elderly and children.

Hey, I missed this one. Are you saying that Solyndra and those other solar companies employed minors? If this is a fact as you suggest, what evidence do you have these places were like 3rd world sweatshops, so I can send it on to Issa?

2. Every current poll

libfreeordie on August 12, 2012 at 4:35 PM

Can polls be wrong? Or oversampled to favor Democrats?

BTW, every exit poll I saw in 2008 also said that O’bama set a new American Record by winning 70% of the high school dropout vote.

You must be so proud of that achievement.

What would Andrea Mitchell know about women?

jan3 on August 12, 2012 at 5:10 PM

The culmination of feminism in the 21st century: Begging powerful men to force people to provide them with free contraceptives.

Transpo on August 12, 2012 at 4:20 PM

And unlimited abortions. That and Obamaphones to call the guys who won’t wear condoms so you have to have contraceptive pills that costs lots more and don’t protect against STD’s and because those guys won’t support the kids so you have to abort them. Why yes, that does sound like the women’s vote the Lefty progressives might be able to get on their side because they hang with those irresponsible left wing progressive guys who treat women like all they are is meat.

Liberals have to go begging, hat in hand, to learn from someone else how be beggars.

Pffft!

Funny how liberals like Andrea act as if they can somehow speak for all women. My daughter, who leans left, would likely be insulted by this reporter; my daughter has her own mind and speaks for herself.

Nice try out there, Andrea. But my daughter, who is liberal, doesn’t need you to be her mouthpiece. She does just fine on her own.

KOOLAID2 on August 12, 2012 at 4:40 PM

He’s talking about New York, California, and Michigan.

ALBANY, N.Y. | More than 40 elected Democrats are making a rare attack on one of their own, slamming Gov. Andrew Cuomo and his proposed cuts to the party’s priorities in education and health care as the state confronts a $10 billion budget deficit, according to a letter obtained Monday by the Associated Press.

In the letter to the state Democratic Party and the governor, the Democrats complained that Mr. Cuomo’s budget policies were “neither balanced nor well-conceived” and warned that they would hurt children and the elderly.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -

California will close its projected $15.7 billion budget deficit by restructuring the state’s welfare program, streamlining health insurance for low-income children, and reducing child care coverage and college aid, as part of a deal Gov. Jerry Brown and Democratic leaders announced Thursday.

The state of Michigan is implementing $304 million in emergency budget cuts ordered by Democratic Governor Jennifer Granholm as the legislature debates even deeper cuts for fiscal year 2009-2010. State workers and Medicaid recipients are among those being impacted by Granholm’s measures.

State workers are being forced to take six unpaid furlough days and, on July 1, adults on Medicaid will lose all access to dental and optical care.
