Poor, conservative-maligned law student introducing Obama at campaign event

posted at 2:41 pm on August 7, 2012 by Dustin Siggins

A few months ago, Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke made headlines for supporting the HHS Mandate in testimony to Congress, and her name exploded into the national scene after Rush Limbaugh made her a target of scorn and mockery. At the time, liberals defended Fluke against Limbaugh’s attacks, pretending she was simply some new-to-politics college student being unfairly maligned by conservatives.

While this defense has been debunked for months, after tomorrow it should be considered entirely dismissible. From Daily Caller:

Fluke is expected to introduce Obama in downtown Denver at the Auraria Campus, during a campaign stop centered on his economic plans, the outlet noted. Fluke’s appearance will likely add a second dynamic, with the campaign, in recent months, attempting to highlight differences between Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s stances on women’s issues to Obama’s left-leaning approach.

Of course, this is not Fluke’s first foray into “women’s issues.” She has been involved with pro-abortion organizations, apparently made a stink about Georgetown’s contraceptive insurance policy before she came to the university, and generally has been something of a liberal political activist. Oh, and she joined VP Biden and other liberals in July to make a speech to the nation’s second-largest teachers’ union convention.

The Obama campaign has jumped back into attacking Romney over his positions on abortion and contraception as of late, even as one ad was hammered by Fact Check for inaccuracies. With Fluke apparently becoming further entrenched with the Obama apparatus, is it okay to criticize her now? Or is that still out of line?

This simply proves that BC was readily available prior to it being provided for “free” by the government.

Tater Salad on August 7, 2012 at 3:16 PM

At the time, liberals defended Fluke against Limbaugh’s attacks, pretending she was simply some new-to-politics college student being unfairly maligned by conservatives.

Reminds me of the false narrative about Rosa Parks. Not to take anything away from Rosa Parks. She was portrayed as a seamstress who was tired at the end of the day and wanted to sit down, starting the city-wide bus boycott. The truth was she was a secretary for the NAACP and they planned her protest for days. And when asked about her action, and whether she was just tired so sat down in a spontaneous act of protest, she replied “The only tired I was, was tired of giving in.”. Of course it was more compelling to believe the narrative rather than the truth, the narrative of a spontaneous act rather than a planned act.

I’m just sick to death of false narratives. Lying is easy. Telling the truth is hard. The truth should be enough. If you want a good false narrative, go to the movies, or watch TV.

I don’t think nine flukeing bucks a month is too much for the flukeing taxpayers to keep my @ss not pregnant, goobs
Slade73 on August 7, 2012 at 3:05 PM

How many years do you expect the taxpayers to foot that bill?

Ten ($1080)?
Fifteen ($1620)?

At the end of that time, when you finally decide that it is “convenient” for you to have kids, how much are we going to be expected to pay for your fertility treatments?

How many treatment cycles are we going to be expected to cover – after all, the logical “next step” of this grand experiment is going to be aging feminists telling us that all women have the “RIGHT” to have a baby.

At $15,000 per treatment, 4 treatments is going to cost the taxpayer $60,000; 6 treatments will cost the taxpayer $90,000.

Most babies born to older mothers through IVF have significant health issues at birth which cause them to need NICU care at a much higher rate than babies of young, healthy mothers. Is the taxpayer going to be expected to cover NICU costs as well?

And since you put off having a baby for 10-15 years, they won’t start contributing to the tax base until much later than if you had a baby while you were still young.

You expect us to take up the slack so that you can play around for a few more years?

Screw that – you don’t want to have kids, pay for it yourself.

The future cost is much too great for me.

I pay approximately $20/mo for “the pill”. That comes to $240/yr. I cannot even imagine where the other $2760 that she wants goes to. Penicillin? Condoms? Bags for her partner’s head?

Seriously? Who in the world needs $3k a year for birth control?

If it is being used for other conditions, then that is no longer “birth control”, but goes under that condition and should be covered. Some drugs, like Viagra, can be used for other health concerns and a good doctor will note that and send a letter to the insurance company stating why it’s being prescribed along with test results and other documentation. This happens all the time.

So this is just a load of BS, but most us already know this.

red_herring on August 7, 2012 at 3:23 PM

Then perhaps people should know who they’re sleeping with and find more appropriate partners than ones who will take condoms off.

It’s all about personal responsibility and dealing with one’s own life. Liberals can’t do that and they need to be directed, guided and told what to do at all times. It’s obvious that independent thought and the ability to make one’s own decisions confuses them.

Dubious person = don’t sleep with them.
No birth control = don’t sleep with them.
Might get pregnant or catch a disease = don’t sleep with them.

Not a hard concept, but it really seems to give a lot of people trouble.

harlekwin15 on August 7, 2012 at 3:31 PM

First, women use bc for more than just sluttin it up.

Second, the pill is more effective than condoms, and the woman can actually control it. Didn’t that shady wikileaks dude take off a condom in the middle of sex or something?

red_herring on August 7, 2012 at 3:23 PM

Insurance will generally pay for BC if it is medically necessary for some other purpose.

The pill may be more effective than condoms AT PREVENTING PREGNANCY, but it does nothing to prevent STDs. If a woman is sleeping around with guys who are also sleeping around, she should be using condoms to prevent a “mistake” that could potentially kill her.

That “shady wikileaks dude” (aka The dude who proved that Bush was right) is accused of RAPE in case you’ve forgotten – if he’d kept his helmet on, he might not be in the pickle he is right now.

TeresainFortWorth on August 7, 2012 at 3:31 PM

Dubious person = don’t sleep with them.
No birth control = don’t sleep with them.
Might get pregnant or catch a disease = don’t sleep with them.

Not a hard concept, but it really seems to give a lot of people trouble.

Willfully obtuse, aren’t you?

kingsjester on August 7, 2012 at 3:26 PM

That appears to be his MO. He was just as willfully obtuse about the whole Fast & Furious thing. I remember how so many people wasted time trying to explain how tracking the guns was not the same as identifying them once they turned up at a crime scene. I think he’s just a stupid dork with time on his hands.

Incidentally, are we footing the bill for Brad Manning’s “unmanning” in Leavenworth? If we are paying for that particular procedure Flukie-Poo’s contraceptives and condoms shouldn’t be too hard to swallow…

Where did she obtain the right to demand products and services (Property) paid for by others?

Where did she get that right?

Chip on August 7, 2012 at 3:28 PM

The first amendment? I’m pretty sure that’s the one about speech.

red_herring on August 7, 2012 at 3:30 PM

Again, more deflection – I’m talking about her supposed right to the property of others.

Where did she obtain that right?

Chip on August 7, 2012 at 3:33 PM

Stop trying to deflect onto side issues…

You were referring to Red Herring, were you not?

Chip on August 7, 2012 at 3:30 PM

Did you miss my previous posts?

Her right to DEMAND comes from the first amendment.

I DON’T think she has the right to actually get property and time from others.

Please see above posts and please read them before posting the question for a third (or maybe fourth) time.

red_herring on August 7, 2012 at 3:34 PM

“First, women use bc for more than just sluttin it up.”

In which case it’s not bc in application and doesn’t fit in with this discussion. The same difference between prescribing morphine for a terminal cancer patient and distributing balloons of heroin for the recipients to party on.

Libertarian leaning atheist.

red_herring on August 7, 2012 at 2:59 PM

In other words, you’re voting for O’bama.

After all, no one in their right mind would waste their vote on a “candidate” who is guaranteed to only get 0.5% of the popular vote (if that!). The one and only time the Libertarian presidential candidate got more than 0.5% of the vote was 32 years ago. And that dude only got 1.1% of the vote, despite his having a Koch Brother as his VP candidate.

Del Dolemonte on August 7, 2012 at 3:36 PM

The demise of low-cost, low-benefit health plans for students is a consequence of the 2010 health-care overhaul. The law is intended to expand coverage to tens of millions of uninsured Americans, but it is also eliminating some insurance options.

In case anyone is interested, this ho has a rich commie 1%er
” boyfriend” , with an agenda :

The Mutterperl family, via Adam’s great grandfather Sol’s handbag fortune, established the ”Mutterperl Scholarship Endowment Fund” in 1951 for Brandeis University. This school, as some people call it, is named for Louis Brandeis, a secular Jew, Zionist, and United States Supreme Court Justice appointed by Woodrow Wilson. Brandeis was a self-proclaimed socialist. Herbert Marcuse, the famous Frankfurt School Marxist, came to Brandeis in 1954, three years after the Mutterperl fund was created. Brandeis University is one of the nation’s leading petri dishes for anti-American and neo-Marxist thought. Here’s the statement from the Brandeis bulletin about the Mutterperl fund:………

I didn’t realize that arguing that she shouldn’t be called a slut requires her getting stuff paid for by others.

red_herring on August 7, 2012 at 3:38 PM

red_herring on August 7, 2012 at 3:34 PM

The argument from her is that she is somehow owed the property and time of other people.

And if she doesn’t get said property she is being deprived somehow.

Now, why is that the case?

How is she Owed that property?

Chip on August 7, 2012 at 3:39 PM

This girl has never seen a mandate

She doesn’t. Did I ever argue she did? All i’m saying is that people who call her a slut and a whore are misogynistic.

red_herring on August 7, 2012 at 3:28 PM

She’s not a whore. She would be a whore if I paid for her to have sex with me. She just wants me to pay for her sex habits with other men.

Nope.
Just calling her names.

DanMan on August 7, 2012 at 3:35 PM

The morning after pill is normally given as a matter of course in cases of rape, and especially on request. If a doctor refuses for personal considerations, he must refer the victim to a doctor or clinic that will.

In cases of unreported rape, the morning after pill is inexpensive and available over the counter.
