My thoughts:

1) Hilary Clinton looks far more presidential than Obama during this event, taking her job seriously and working with Panetta and Daley to convince Obama to make the call

3) It's absolutely disgusting that he chose to endanger a SEAL Team instead of dropping a bomb, for political expediency. Disgusting.

Oh, so in addition to being a narrow-minded, Obama-fellating acolyte, you are a mind-reading troll who can divine what I "wonder," too?

Here's a clue. When you talk about wondering why nobody listens to what someone has to say, you are doing something known as projection. Not that I expect you to have the self-awareness to know what that is, but it's one thing the shallowest water-carriers of the left have perfected.

I think this is a critical piece of information which needs to be in the main article.

On three different occasions a chance arose to take down OBL and on each occasion it seems Obama ignored the advice of the professionals at hand and instead did what his PR person told him to- and each time the risk existed that OBL might move again and be lost. Clearly Obama didn't delay the op for military or intelligence reasons, he did it on the say so of one of his Chicago cronies.

Valerie Jarrett - the power behind the power behind the throne.

It does make one wonder why she didn't want OBL taken down. I mean the guy couldn't have her phone number on a laptop, now, could he? So why counsel against going after him? She is no military expert, not a foreign policy expert... so why defer to her on this?

Am I glad OBL was taken out? Yes.

And if it would have taken a tacnuke to make sure of the job, then I could see some fudging. No one was making the tacnuke case, so why the fudging? I doubt that Jarrett is an expert in small unit tactics, CQB or anything dealing with such a mission... not even weather as the armed forces have some pretty interesting capabilities in the worst of weather. Why leave such a person alive? He did declare war on us... all of us... and given the organization that is not an idle threat.

It isn't the weakness of Obama that is worrying - he bows and scrapes more than is seemly for any man to foreign leaders - it is worrying that Jarrett would NOT want OBL taken out, multiple times.

That is the worrying part.

Just what is up with that?

Using intelligence leaks to create false narratives that support political agendas has consequences.

Among those consequences is creating anger among those who know the real story and who deserve the real credit. Another is reducing the motivation on the part of others who hold classified information but have different agendas to respect the rules, when they see the rules repeatedly violated in service of Obama's crass political agendas.

He is a troll who has the religious fever for all the SCOAMF he can get.

He avoids inconvenient truths - like how outraged most conservatives were with W's leaving our troops "sitting in place" to die while the diplomats tried negotiating a settlement with Al-Qaeda in Iraq and Iran for two years.

His worshipping also blinds him to the peril of indecision and incompetence.

How bad is he?

I stopped my liberal niece in her tracks yesterday when I reminded her that we grew up in the Cold War era and always lived under the M.A.D. threat until we were adults - but her two kids in my pool at the time (the eldest is 19) have NEVER known that feeling ... but the Obama administration's attempt to reset the relationship with a Mafia nation state (which she freey acknowledges Russia to be) and the nation which to this day crushes dissent the same way they did in Tianemen Square have brought us back to the precipice of a Second Cold War.

I asked, "Is that what you want for them?"

Her clear answer, "No."

As has been noted, Obama did not make the call until he was guaranteed deniability. The resposibility for the go/not go was assumed by Admiral McRaven, who would have taken the blame for any failure. In that case it would have been painted as a rogue operation and Adm McRaven's career would have been over. He accepted this and the operation went on. Obama's cabinet officials understood he would never make the call otherwise.

In all respects this episode was identical to the Somali pirate crisis early in Obama's Presidency. Somali pirates took over an American tanker and took the Captain hostage. They threatened to kill him unless their demands were met. The nearest Navy vessel was the USS Bainbridge which was equipped with snipers. Over the course of several days Obama temporized, saying force could be used if the Captain's life was in danger. Finally the Captain of the Bainbridge made the call, deciding that the Captain's life was in danger as he had guns pointed at him. The snipers took out the pirates, the crisis was ended, Obama got the credit. Had the rescue ended badly the Captain of the Bainbridge would have had the blame and Obama would have disassociated himself from the decision and the Captain's career would have ended.
