Mexican president to US: You know, you guys should really review your gun laws

posted at 2:01 pm on July 22, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

Coming from the president of a country that’s seen at least 55,000 drug-and-gang-related deaths during his tenure, the blithe audacity is enough to make your head spin.

Mexican President Felipe Calderon condemned U.S. gun laws as “mistaken” and urged Washington to review them after a shooter killed 12 people and injured more than 50 others at a U.S. movie theater on Friday.

But Mexico’s president, who has repeatedly called on Washington to tighten gun controls to stop weapons flowing from the United States into the hands of Mexican drug cartels, said U.S. weapons policy needed a rethink after the killings.

“Because of the Aurora, Colorado tragedy, the American Congress must review its mistaken legislation on guns. It’s doing damage to us all,” Calderon said.

Calderon has been a constant critic of the United States’ gun laws, and is constantly blaming us for systemic drug violence in Mexico, but it seems to me that the Mexican president consistently demonstrates an attitude toward the United States that is nothing short of insolent.

Where does he get off? For years, Calderon’s been backhandedly criticizing us for our attempts to stop illegal immigration and secure our border — he wants a porous border so that people can move north and send U.S. dollars south, but if any weapons make it across this porous border into the hands of Mexican drug cartels, its the fault of the Second Amendment? He effectively denies law-abiding Mexican citizens the right to carry arms, but somehow the country is flooded with criminals running amok with them? He wants to sue American gun manufacturers, but is oddly quiet when the Obama administration willfully puts weapons in the hands of Mexican cartels?

No, just no. His own leadership and policies have consistently failed to address the issue, and now we’re reduced to hearing sneering little remarks about how the world’s problems are somehow our fault.

Truth be told, if we had a President with some real cajones, instead of the weaselly Socialist narcissistic legend-in-his-own-mind Chicago Political Machine dweeb we hopefully can boot out of office in November, I doubt something this crass would have even slipped from between Calderon’s sneering lips in the first place.

As I said in the headlines, Calderon the scumbag should have been physically picked up and unceremoniously thrown out of our country when he came to our Congress and bad-mouthed the US, attacking an American state. That is none of his business and if he’s too stupid to understand that he should have been taught a lesson he wouldn’t forget. Calderon should have been tossed headfirst into international waters along with the Indonesian Dog-Eating Retard and the America-hating dems who all applauded his idiotic broadsides on our nation. And Mexico still needs to pay and be punished for its official policy of pushing an invasion of our territory. That is an act of war.

Mexico banned all private ownership of firearms because of very real fears of armed r-word that is often invoked in the same breath as crazy Herr Doktor Paul.

As usual this means only the bad guys (operating a dark public-private partnership) have guns and a lot of bodies get dropped.

CorporatePiggy on July 22, 2012 at 2:10 PM

Senor Calderon, mijo…when you have disarmed the drug cartels, ended the rampant corruption of your own local and national police forces, and when you have ended the murders of Mexicans by Mexicans, with or without American guns…then, my little amariconado, then and only then will you have any authority to make comments or protest our laws.

Fix up your own damn place before commenting on the paint, trim and landscape of our home, OK?

And yet, oddly enough, Calderon never says a word about that. If he was so concerned about the flow of guns into Mexico, you would think he might bring that up and demand an explanation. Instead he is calling for gun restrictions on American citizens.

from the piles of heads in a pyramid capital of the world… home of Ciudad Juarez…

Ciudad Juarez, the epicenter of the Mexican drug war and the strategic crossing point for illegal narcotics entering the United States, recorded its highest rate of homicides ever in 2010.

Officials stated to the Associated Press that 3,111 people were killed in the city over 2010, up from 2,643 in 2009, and 1,587 in 2008. With a population of 1.4 million, Ciudad Juarez is the most dangerous place in Mexico,

The homicides registered for 2010 have brought the total to over 30,000 murders nationwide in drug-related violence since President Felipe Calderon declared his war on the cartels in December 2006, including more than 12,500 in 2010.

The violence got worse after the 2006 accession of President Calderon. Much of the city violence is generated by street gangs,

The Mexican Ministry of Justice (or whatever they call it) does the same. Their government arms the cartels more than ours could ever hope to. Colombia showed what a government that really wants to get rid of drug cartels does. The Mexican government likes the level of violence they have there.

Remembering Chicago’s victims

A mass murder like Aurora, Colorado, naturally grabs the headlines and attention, as it should. A presidential recognition of the murders is appropriate.

Yet more than twice as many people have been murdered this month in the president’s hometown of Chicago than were killed in the Aurora shooting. They are just statistics for whom there will be no presidential visits or flags flown at half staff.

This is Chicago, home of the toughest gun laws in America.

Why does Obama hate Black people?

More Blacks in Chicago get killed by other Blacks every other day than were murdered in Aurora.

Yet…Obama orders the US flag to be set at half-staff in rememberence and flies out to Colorado to do a photo op with the families.

Yet, in his own neighborhood, were he learned his community organizer skills, where he allegedly started all sorts of programs to stop the violence, end the poverty, make the waters of Lake Michigan recede…they get what?

coldwarrior on July 22, 2012 at 2:53 PM

I’m more inclined to insist that Calderon get some answers from Holder and Obama about Fast and Furious. It might not also be a bad idea for Calderon to pass along some strategies on how to prevent border crossings of illegals at its own southern border.

onlineanalyst on July 22, 2012 at 2:54 PM

Erika, with this post you have gained a loyal and dedicated fan for life!

I have been appalled at the arrogance and sheer gall of Calderone for years. I have posted innumerable times relating the excesses of his administration and his incessant and transparent demands for this nation to effectively eradicate the US/Mexico border and allow his countrymen to take from this nation what they choose.

Calderone’s surrogate openly stated that ‘… the border is not a line in the sand, but a wide corridor that exists between the United States and Mexico, A THIRD COUNTRY…’.

I have a message for Mr. Calderone and his surrogates. The United States of America is a sovereign nation. Our borders will be maintained and secured. The border between the United States and Mexico is well defined. No part of our nation is up for grabs as a designated ‘third nation’.

It also seems to me that Calderone accepts no responsibility for his citizenry manufacturing and smuggling drugs into our nation and poisoning our citizenry. He also refuses to accept any responsibility for the deaths and crime related to that industry.

HE HAS made it abundantly clear that he doesn’t care what happens to our citizenry or HIS OWN COUNTRYMEN so long as those remittances and, I suspect, the proceeds of the drug and human trafficking that he directly and indirectly encourages continue to flow into his countries coffers.

Calderone, and those who stand with him, are without conscience and represent the lowest human denominator.

If any city needs community agitators to get out there and adress this problem at its roots. The legions of young black males without positive male role models and a pervasive drug culture. These are the problems that Obama could have adressed in his time agitating for greater welfare benefits for individuals that are part of the problem.

I hope you are right. I doubt it though. I mean, after running for POTUS for four years why doesn’t Mitt have a better campaign team, or know how to strike back when attacked?

I remember when the republican candidate for POTUS used to fight for the votes he needed. That was a pretty long time ago though.

DannoJyd on July 22, 2012 at 2:56 PM

He may have a point. My, albeit brief, review of the Mexican laws shows they’ve NO prohibition to rolling decapitated heads onto Disco dance floors…

YES. This.^^^

PatriotGal2257 on July 22, 2012 at 2:58 PM

And yet, oddly enough, Calderon never says a word about that. If he was so concerned about the flow of guns into Mexico, you would think he might bring that up and demand an explanation.

[sharrukin on July 22, 2012 at 2:16 PM]

The simplest explanation for that is that he knew about it, despite their official protestation that they didn’t.

Seriously, how do you think the Mexican people would respond if Calderon’s Administration had said ‘we knew about the program of letting guns walk into our country which led to the killing of some 300 innocent civilians.’

So they lodge the formal protest but don’t press for an explanation. And why would they be determined in demanding an explanation if the Administration could show that Calderon’s Administration knew and approved of it?

If Obama’s legacy in Chicago is the present state of murder, a growing combat zone, the filth, the drugs, the shattered lives, the rising unemployment and destitution, the abject hopelessness of many of its citizens…

Imagine what this Nation is going to look like if he gets another four years.

Ummmm…ahhhhh…ummmm…Nope. I got nothin.

Why does Obama hate Black people?

coldwarrior on July 22, 2012 at 2:53 PM

I believe you are overthinking it. Obama doesn’t hate blacks per se. He just doesn’t have any use for individuals that will not further his personal ambition (Mooch should take note that her jet-setting lobster-eating days are over the minute that Obama doesn’t have to pretend that he is a loving father and husband to a shrew and two brats that are turning out to be just as vile as their momma).

In Obama’s world, blacks are a useful voting block. Accordingly he throws them all sorts of race warfare rhetoric and stands for greater benefits for the takers of society. But that is all they are- politically important pawns, many of whom are too damned brainwashed to understand that Obama does not have their best interests at heart.

Romney should laughingly suggest that Mexico adopt our gun laws so they can have our gun crime rate. I don’t suppose he does ‘laughingly’, though.

PersonFromPorlock on July 22, 2012 at 3:05 PM

You do realize that Calderon is a puppet of the US gun industry as is Bloomberger, Michael Moore, Pel-losier and the entire faux Brady “Campaign”.

They are tasked with scaremongering which leads to ever increasing sales of firearms and munitions.

And it is working.

CorporatePiggy on July 22, 2012 at 3:07 PM

The simplest explanation for that is that he knew about it, despite their official protestation that they didn’t.

Dusty on July 22, 2012 at 2:58 PM

They planned it.

They didn’t bother to track the guns.

The talking point “90% of the guns found in Mexico are smuggled from USA” started early.

the_nile on July 22, 2012 at 3:08 PM

Where is James Polk when you really need him?

ThePrimordialOrderedPair on July 22, 2012 at 2:08 PM

Along with every one of the bastards that stood and applauded this third world commie scumbag!

Talon on July 22, 2012 at 3:11 PM

“You know, you guys should really review your gun laws”

Oh my, let’s see…how to respond:
(counts to 5)…yep, we checked, there are definitely too many of them.

…how about you review your border laws?

…why, you want more guns? I’m sorry, that Obabble-sponsored program was shut down.

…hmm, you’re right. I guess we could add one that says we can send one firearm back with every illegal alien we return to Mexico.

OccamsRazor on July 22, 2012 at 3:13 PM

Dear Señor Calderon…

somewhatconcerned on July 22, 2012 at 3:15 PM

Calderon is a globalist who’s just pushing the left’s gun snatching message. He’s interchangeable with any leftist in the US.

The world is infested with them.

darwin on July 22, 2012 at 3:15 PM

obama certainly has restored America’s prestige, as promised.
