Too good to check. Dogs, dead, get voter reg forms

posted at 12:30 pm on July 15, 2012 by Jazz Shaw

Call it a slow news weekend or just call it business as usual in politics. If this story is a spoof, it’s a fairly good one, since CBS and others picked up on it immediately.

A “non-profit group” seems to have mailed out a massive number of voter registration forms targeting likely Democratic leaning recipients. No problem so far. Nothing wrong with getting registration forms out to the public. They also took the extra step of filling in some of the information in advance. Now we’re getting a little dodgy, but if they don’t pre-fill the party registration or demographic details, it might still be OK. So… what could possibly go wrong?

The voter registration form arrived in the mail last month with some key information already filled in: Rosie Charlston’s name was complete, as was her Seattle address.

Problem is, Rosie was a black lab who died in 1998.

A group called the Voter Participation Center has touted the distribution of some 5 million registration forms in recent weeks, targeting Democratic-leaning voting blocs such as unmarried women, African-Americans, Latinos and young adults.

But residents and election administrators around the country also have reported a series of bizarre and questionable mailings addressed to animals, dead people, noncitizens and people already registered to vote.

Also on the list of recipients:

  • A dead dog named Mozart, belonging to a Virginia man
  • A cat named “scampers” who also lives in Virginia
  • Dead people
  • People who had moved to other states
  • People already registered to vote elsewhere

This story will doubtless cause the fur to fly (er… sorry) in the usual circles, but perhaps it will also cause people to think about voter registration and ID differently. This group is obviously using commercially available mailing lists from sources which have nothing to do with government registration and can contain some oddball entries, but they are transferring that data into the voting system.

I wonder if they sent any to Florida, where even now we learn that the recent check of registered voters is turning up people who are registered but admitted, upon being asked, that they are not eligible. And more importantly… how many of them were dogs?

UPDATE: (Jazz) I have been informed that the dog pictured on the front page for this article actually belongs to hilarious political satirist Frank Fleming of New York Post and PJ Media fame, among other places. He’s on Twitter (@IMAO_). The picture was taken by his wife Sarah.

What I want to know what is the “Voter Participation Center”, who is funding them and where they got their mailing lists. I received a mailing from them at my home in VA and it gave no information about the group, its aims, or what they would do with the information they requested had I been foolish enough send it to them. Soros-ACORN and their ilk comes to mind.

Are we sure the mailings weren’t from the “Voter Pet-icipation Center”? (Sorry…I’ll groan for you – Ughhhhhh….)

Thanx for the link to the story on the Texas voter ID case–if that doesn’t show what a sham the DOJ is perpetrating against voter ID laws I don’t know what does. And if these judges don’t throw this out, it really is a travesty.

“Dogs, dead, get voter reg forms”

I don’t see any problem. I plan on voting as ‘Eric Holder’ several times this November…

So where is Bo registered to vote?

For that matter, where are Socks, Millie, Checkers, Him & Her, and JFK’s pupniks?

Ya know, prominent dems and leftists are adamant that voter ID constitutes a poll tax for the poor, since those that have no valid state id must pony upwards of $22 for a certified copy of a birth certificate to be provided for the privilege of applying for a state ID. Provided a copy of a valid birth certificate exists in the first place.

Stinkin’ GOP wanting to deny such poor, destitute people the right to vote. How are they expected to vote for their favorite party’s candidates and issues?

Guarantee ya, if animals, the dead and the imaginary all consistently voted GOP, we’d have had strict enforcement of voter ID years ago.

Probably find ’em registered in all 57 states.

I blame “Married, with Children” for this.
In one episode, their dog, ‘Buck’ was sent a credit card, and Al and Peggy ‘lived it up’ on that card, going on fancy vacations and eating steak, lobster, caviar and drinking champagne. (The show was even set in Chicago)

The Baraka and Mooch saw that episode and figured; “Hey, Lets use the same strategy with dogs voting, and WE can ‘live it up’ on someone else’s money.

There are no coincidences, Delia.

A dead vote, is a dead vote, is a dead vote, . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Actually, the husband of a friend was a legal dead voter. He voted early since he was having heart surgery. Unfortunately, he never made it home, but his vote counted. According to his wife, he would have gotten a big kick out of the fact.

Our predominately democrat municipal government has proposed allowing library cards to be used as voter id, since we have a voter id law.

This is BS. Only “live” dogs should be allowed to vote for Democrats.
