Part of the problem is the Democrats who ran Congress the last two years before Bush left office. Part of the problem is that we conducted two wars off budget, and part of the problem is that for eight years before that we had a Republican Congress that thought they were Democrats and spent like a drunken sailor. No child left behind was not a conservative program, and it is an absolute failure. Senior drug programs is not a conservative program, costs milliions and is a failure. And I suspect that if Republicans control both houses after November there will be no relief still. Has anyone listened to Mitch McConnell lately? Do you think he is going to be any better than the Democrat leadership? Plase . . .

It reminds me of the good old days when I was about 12 or 13 years old. My younger brother, about 9 years old, decided it was time we set up the Christmas tree. He dragged it out of the box and tried to talk us into helping set it up, since it was a bigger task than he could handle. The rest of us were more interested in watching TV and told him we would help him later.

Impatient, he began wrestling with the tree, much to our amusement. After about five minutes he had been pinned multiple times by the tree. He finally jumped up in frustration and yelled, "Don't just sit there and watch me tear it up! Come help me!"

We all thought he was doing a pretty good job of tearing it up on his own.

I think that's Obama's attitude. "Don't just sit there and watch me wreck the country. Come help."

Nostrilitus holes get larger when he lies. That is why they are a distraction.
It is the economy stupid. Has been since the Democrat takeover of the Congress & Senate in 2006. That is when the DECLINE began. Bush was no parigon of virture when it came to wise budgets but the spending of the Dhimmicrats is the primary reason we are in such dire straights today. Now we've had 3 1/2 years of President Downgrade and Waxman continues this falaciouis argument that it was an inherited situation? He must think we are as stupid as he and his staff are. Sorry ain't buying it.
Question for you Henry, are you going to the Convention?

Just think about how much pain we could have saved the country if only we'd had a Dem-controlled House and Senate back in the last years of the Bush presidency to prevent the run-away deficits and unemployment. Oh, wait...

Unemployment was 6.5% in October 2008. The biggest jump was between the election and Obama's inauguration. Could it be that many business owners were smart enough to read the tea leaves and see an administration hostile to business was going to take over, so they shed jobs? Nah, that's just not possible. Everyone knew Obama was going to cut the deficit and get the economy moving again -- just like he said.

And yes, the bad economic news began before Obama’s time — but President Obama has managed to get plenty of legislation through (i.e., bailouts, ObamaCare, Dodd-Frank, etcetera) and implemented plenty of policy through the executive branch. We are now three and half years into his presidency, but the economy doesn’t seem to do much except fluctuate between marginal gains and losses. How long are we expected to wait for results?

Thank you for making this point. I wish Mitt would make it too -afterall Obama was a part of that congress.

Moreover, the House has passed multiple jobs bills which Harry Reid's Senate has blocked, so boo hoo hoo Congressman Waxman, who exactly is it who is obstructing an economic recovery?

now the Republicans are trying to blame it on President Obama. They say he hasn’t done enough, but they don’t help him get anything done — they stop him from any of his efforts.

Uh huh, there are about three dozen bills passed by the Republican House, all ignored by Senate Majority Obstructionist Harry Reidiculous, whose Senate has now gone 1,161 days or 3 years, 2 months, and 4 days of failing to pass a budget--talk about someone who doesn't help anything--and last time I looked Sen. Reidiculous was not a Republican, but rather a hopelessly entrenched deadbeat liberal Doom.

The economy has not recovered — some people call it a recession, I think it’s a depression.

Recession and depression are specifically defined terms.

We are currently not in either. The economy is currently growing less than 2% per year after a steep downturn - which sucks.

2% is basically what's required in order to avoid growing unemployment. When the economy grows less than 2%, productivity gains via innovation usually wipes out any new jobs that would have otherwise been created.
