Poll: What was the Obamateurism of the Week?

posted at 9:31 am on July 1, 2012 by Ed Morrissey

Time once again to ask the question — what was the Obamateurism of the Week?  We don’t hand out silver medals here, but don’t boo just because your choice lost. Just remember — if you can’t stand the Heats, you’d better outsource the kitchen.

Previous weekly “winners” in 2012:

Previous Obamateurisms of the Year:

  • Giving 2 minutes of “shout-outs” before getting to the Fort Hood shooting (2009)
  • Obama leaves Clinton at press conference podium on tax deal to attend Christmas party (2010)
  • “I would put our legislative and foreign policy accomplishments in our first two years against any president— with the possible exceptions of Johnson, F.D.R., and Lincoln.” (2011)

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

Oh, and offsourcing of whatever that thingamigig is.

As a Red Sox fan, there is only one stand out this week.

If not for that, making sure your audience is unarmed would win.

EliTheBean on July 1, 2012 at 9:43 AM

It’s not a tax, George!

As always, an abundance of good choices. Jay Carney’s claim that boos aren’t boos was certainly obamateuristic.

The silverware has been outsourced and you’ll have to pay a tax to get it back

ldbgcoleman on July 1, 2012 at 9:59 AM

Maybe next week we’ll be able to vote on The One’s tweet of Obamacare being a BFD?

But I’m still annoyed that he, sorry, He, was so insulting about the Youkilis trade.

is self-preservation because of ethnic bias and racial profiling on the from his campaign.

ExpressoBold on July 1, 2012 at 10:04 AM

When your popularity is so low that you have to remove flatware from a group of nominal supporters, well, how the mighty have fallen.

Difficultas_Est_Imperium on July 1, 2012 at 10:05 AM

P. S. I would have walked out at the same time as the silverware if that had happened to me. Not that I would have been at a fund-raiser for him, but if he had shown up at a meeting of one of the organizations I belong to.

Kevin K. on July 1, 2012 at 10:05 AM

Outsourcing? Offshoring? What’s the difference?

Price-Earnings ratio? Profit-Earnings ratio? What’s the difference?

Government spending? Investment? What’s the difference.

Dear Leader writes his own dictionary, making it up as he goes.

farsighted on July 1, 2012 at 10:07 AM

Fork-gate. Insulting his Hispanic voting base is pitiful.

jbh45 on July 1, 2012 at 10:07 AM

Were the forks real silver or made in China? Were they worried about them as weapons or theft?

Tweets “Still a BFD“.

Like most of his actions, not an amateurism so much as an indicator of lack of character. Reagan, you recall, would not take off his jacket in the oval office. This man has no respect for any of our institutions, and is doing his best to bring them down to his own low level.

But on the good side, we get to listen to Michelle instruct us on the meaning of the Gospel.

I’m surprised at how tame these Obamateurisms seem, considering the fast and furious week we had. Did he speak less or did we notice less because we were distracted by the other stupidity outta DC?

stukinIL4now on July 1, 2012 at 10:57 AM

The siverware wasn’t outsourced, it was mandated. It will help the illegal immigrants during the Miami heat.
Obama, as they use the silverware at a lavish dinner in Boston near where Romney lived while governor.

Deanna on July 1, 2012 at 10:58 AM

Yea, and I feel it’s the right thing to post this

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/06/obama-insert-issue-here-its-the-right-thing-to-do/

Tweeting from the WH is so juvenile. It smacks of Alec Baldwin or Charlie Sheen. Mr. President needs to act like a man.

I went with the silverware, even tho that was probably an over-zealous secret service supervisor, and Obummer probably had no idea. But it qualifies due to the sheer stupidity of it, and gets bonus points for being ignored by the MSM. But if it had been a republican function…

That was my exact thought when I read about it this week; hot on the heels (forks?) of that was…how incredibly insulting to the donor-attendees. Why hasn’t the Congressional Hispanic Caucus made an appearance about this? Where is Luis Guitterez ranting about the racism?

Trying not fall into the “everyone gets a trophy” liberal BS trap……..I think all these OOTW candidates are winners. This boob of a community organizer appears to have been emboldened by F&F – to the point he can just about do or say anything without reproach.

All 5 of these choices would have been front page news for GWB.

Really. I look forward to the day when corruption and incompetence in government becomes so overwhelming that the entire federal government is outsourced on an annual contract to bidders.

I can dream.

slickwillie2001 on July 1, 2012 at 12:32 PM

I had to vote for the boo incident, because it’s yet another reminder of the size of his ego, his absent sense of humor (kind of a good thing to have as a leader) and that he takes himself way, way too seriously.

Jonathan on July 1, 2012 at 12:33 PM

Would like to rate each Obamateurism, myself. Being limited to one choice just adds another layer of stress to our already-seething gizzards. Guess we have to wait until “Votemageddon” in November for full relief.

Christian Conservative on July 1, 2012 at 2:31 PM

Oh no – that’s the beauty of the SCOTUS eff up !
I am a little early on this……. but the obamacommies are going to be running all over saying obie care is NOT A TAX ! – and that SCOTUS is not right about that………… and Roberts was NOT correct in calling it a tax.
The word “Tax ” is not going to be used at all by Demonrats before November.

And Roberts won’t get any help from anyone to help with wiping the egg from his face.

FlaMurph on July 1, 2012 at 2:43 PM

Went for asking to collect the silverware. I’ll bet they are going to sell it to raise campaign cash as commemorating an event where Obama honored them with his presence.

TeeDee on July 1, 2012 at 4:11 PM

I see I was in the minority, but saying Miami Heats is just so ridiculous especially for the basketguru that is our prez. I can see him screwing up baseball. It’s obvious that he is way out of his element in that sport. He should stick to riding bikes.

Just like when the Secretary Of Defense wouldn’t speak in front of Marines until they were disarmed, only MORE paranoid. And racist to boot.
