Apparently it was first tried in W’s administration in cooperation with the Mexican government. They found it didn’t work. The only thing that makes me think they didn’t do anything really stupid is that The Won’s administration has had to walk back two different claims of Bush involvement. I think it’s like Solyndra, W was looking at them also but decided they weren’t a good bet to invest taxpayer money with, but a few bundles of major campaign cash convinced Obama that they were just a swell investment. I actually think that Obama is dumber than the average bear and the press can’t hide it anymore.

I think we can do both, I think R’s want to bungle this F&F on purpose because it will lead partly to Bush in a way, seems to be the theme on the Sunday shows as far as R talking points, Not to get into my own conspiracy theory here but I am now 58.7% :) sure F&F is something that could bring down both political party’s or damage them for a long time. Nobody wants to know what happened from beginning to end on this. scary.

Regarding immigration, all you have to know is this:

1. It is illegal

2. US citizens don’t want illegals coming across our border.

3. We need to do whatever it takes to stop the problem. It doesn’t have to be one solution; it can be a few different solutions.

Nonsense. That would imply, for example, that we should stop issuing visitor vistas – millions of illegal immigrants enter the country by simply outstaying them – and that we should turn the Mexican border into something like a hybrid of the Berlin Wall and the 38th parallel. Is that what you’re suggesting? No more vistas for people doing tourism and business (or claiming that)? A militarized border?

There is nothing else to know.

Of course there is. Immigration and illegal immigration is a far more complex issue than the crazies make it out to be.

And the better tools to deal with the problem aren’t the childlike fantasies like those one reads here (e.g. . If I was in charge it would be done in less than 30 days. Not even a chicken could cross that field. It would be sealed airtight. Your claim of impossible ,, typical liberal nonsense.). We need a grown up, non-emotional approach to the immigration problem, including border security. Understanding the limitations of what the government can do – as any conservative should be able to do – is a good first step.

George got a little jab at Hilary Rosen over legal voters but to a degree I agree, if we aren’t talking Obama’s economy we need to be. That said what a boring five months that will be. I like my Obama scandals varied and interesting even if it comes down to the same ending every time. We are all racists.

What do I see? Email after email from yourself. All saying

And they have no replies to this:

First, the single biggest factor for illegal immigration from Mexico is the inequality in wealth between the two countries. That’s why illegal immigration from Canada isn’t much of a problem. Putting diplomatic pressure, using tailored economic incentives, on the Mexico ruling class to move them towards liberalizing their economy, fighting corruption seriously and modernize their institutions should be a priority when it comes to immigration.

Second, our bloated welfare system – the long-lasting unemployment subsidies, the social housing, the never-ending food stamps – needs to be severely reformed. As well as our labor laws – including the idiotic minimum wage. These things keep too many American citizens and legal immigrants out of the labor force, opening job opportunities therefore more incentives to illegal immigration.

Third, we need to reform the legal immigration system – that was designed by Ted Kennedy. End stupidities like the DV lottery and increase the legal immigration of skilled workers and, very important, of temporary low-wage workers.

All these steps would be much more effective than wasting millions in futile endeavours with fantasy-based goals.
