Video: Follow the ideology

posted at 2:46 pm on June 23, 2012 by Ed Morrissey

Bill Whittle pulls no punches in his new Afterburner for PJTV, titled “Follow the Ideology” — but which could just as easily be titled, “Furious about Furious.”  Bill castigates the media outlets that have ignored Operation Fast and Furious, scolding them with the famous exhortation, “Have you no shame?”  Bill also has a few words with other media outlets who argue that it’s either a partisan tempest in a Capitol Hill teapot, or that OF&F was a “botched” operation that mistakenly resulted in guns flowing over the border.  As our colleague Katie Pavlich has argued in her book Fast and Furious: Barack Obama’s Bloodiest Scandal and the Shameless Cover-Up, Bill says this wasn’t botched at all — it was a deliberate attempt to hype the supposed dangers of gun sales and push public opinion into renewing Bill Clinton’s assault-weapons ban and other gun-control measures.  Bill also believes that the hundreds of dead in Mexico from these weapons weren’t an unforeseen and tragic consequence, but part of the strategy all along — and that may be what Barack Obama and Eric Holder are hiding in their claim of executive privilege (via Instapundit and The Right Scoop):

I’d say we’ll find out sooner or later — and perhaps sooner, at that.  The executive-privilege claim won’t hold up in court, and even the ideologues at the White House have to know that much.  Furthermore, in order to make the claim stick, the White House will have to produce a “privilege log” that describes each document they shield through the privilege claim for a court to assess, so we’ll know who was involved in the conversations even before a court rules on the privilege claim itself.  Bill’s accusation is very strong, but if it proves true, then Holder’s resignation won’t suffice to deal with the aftermath — and this highly suspect claim of privilege shows that the White House very much fears disclosure, for whatever reason.

The degree of delusion involved here is approaching clinical psychopathology. How could any rational person watch that display of lunacy from Pelosi and not be convinced she was completely deranged, let alone agree with her?

In technical terms, these people are nucking futs.

You want nucking futs, go to the F & F thread just posted in Headlines. libfreeordie is claiming with a straight face that Rachel Madcow “owned” the debate she had the other night with Nick Gillespie.

I asked libfree politely to explain why, and the sound of crickets ensued.

If you’re drawing the conclusion that it’s a massive Obama move to control your guns, you’re f*cking nuts. This operation was started in 2006. W started this. How it has now become a vast Obama conspiracy to take your guns away is just another example how frigging nutzoid you all actually are.

Seeing that the ideology and actions of Hussein, Clintons, Holder and Incompetano, and their worker bees has always been to provide money, favors, excuses, visas and cover to anti-American and jihady activities, I won’t be surprised if we find out later on that this government was providing weapons to jihadies.

Obama can pardon anything but an impeachment until the minute he leaves office, whether or not charges have been brought or convictions had. That includes criminal convictions for impeachable offenses.

If a criminal action for contempt of congress is initiated, that survives the end of the Congress. The people are effectively the plaintiffs in criminal actions. A civil suit by congress for declaratory and injunctive relief is different, since the Congress is the plaintiff. I’m not sure about that situation, but at the least the new Congress would have to be substituted as plaintiff.

Everyone is talking about impeachment or forcing Holder out of office. Frankly, I’d like to see him brought up on charges of TREASON… after all, F&F fits the definition of TREASON in the Constitution…

Article III Section 3 Clause 1: Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

Drug cartels in Mexico are NOT our friends. Providing them weapons is giving our enemies aid.

Just saw Matt Miller being interviewed on FOX. He is a former aide to AG Holder and said that Holder didn’t know anything about F&F until early sometime in 2011. That he was very upset and put a stop to it then. The actual perps were the local atf agents and a local asst ag in Phoenix. They did it all by themselves and didn’t ask or tell anyone in the doj. If this is the case why stonewall Issa and then issue an EP at the last minute? I need to contact Matt Miller and try to sell him some beach front property in Neb.

It was a massive conspiracy to violate federal firearms laws and international arms treaties. Obama can pardon Holder and underlings for the violations of federal firearms laws, perjury to congress, etc. He can’t do anything about international issues, for example if Mexico accuses Holder and/or others of war crimes.

And I agree he should be disbarred. If they determine he committed any criminal offense, even just perjury, he might be. Obama has no authority there, either.

To my horror, I found myself imaging this:

“It’s all right, Eric, we’ll let the guns go across the border and it will prove the contention I made to the American people and to Calderon that their drug wars are fueled by assault weapons smuggled across the border from the US. Gun control will be a slam dunk after that. A couple hundred Mexicans, pfft. Collateral damage for the greater good.”

“Wait, what? An ATF agent was killed with one of the guns? An ICE agent may have been killed by one also?”

“Uh-oh.”

Nikkia2112 on June 23, 2012 at 9:19 PM

Well, at least those who were skeptical last year about this being connected to gun laws here in the US are singing the party line now that its blatantly obvious.

The WH is scared because this isn’t just about an end run around the 2nd ammendment. That is clearly part of it but I’m also in the group of tin foil hatters who think it has links to the sinaloa cartel (get them guns to help them win) and other deals. Arizona wasn’t the only place this happened. It was in Texas and in Florida. The Florida case has potential links to Honduras and its constitutional crisis a couple of years ago.

My gut instinct tells me that SippyCup and Holder are stalling for time with this so-called “privilege” while they rapidly shred everything and anything.

I firmly believe that there are documents where SippyCup, in a private moment of pure honesty, smugly states is his typical dismissive manner that it won’t matter to him at all if there’s collateral damage as long as he can dilute the 2nd Amendment.

Something else that concerns me is that the link to Brian Terry’s death was from a couple of weapons (‘assault rifles’, I believe) that were linked to Fast and Furious, and found at the scene of Terry’s murder.

Were any cartel people killed in that incident?

How do a couple of weapons – ‘assault rifles’ get accidentally left behind?

Or was it not accidental that weapons linked to Fast and Furious were ‘left’ at the scene, knowing that they’d be found, traced, and discovered to have come from US gun shops?

We’ve already acknowledged that we believe Holder et al intentionally let the guns walk, knowing/hoping they’d become the basis for increased crime and a push for more gun regulation. There’s not much daylight between that rationale and the notion that the guns recovered at Terry’s murder scene were planted or left at the scene knowing that they were from Fast and Furious – meaning someone involved with his death could’ve been an ‘insider’ of some sort… ?

Midas on June 24, 2012 at 9:56 AM

Bill says this wasn’t botched at all — it was a deliberate attempt to hype the supposed dangers of gun sales and push public opinion into renewing Bill Clinton’s assault-weapons ban and other gun-control measures.

BOOGA BOOGA!

Why can’t the operation simply have been to get Mexican drug cartels, which directly impact America? Pushing some fever dream that Obama hates guns, which he has done nothing to suggest that he does (except maybe for the fact the he’s liberal), is ludicrous. And deep down, if you all think about it, you know that to be true. You can be mad at Obama for the things he’s actually done, but concocting some cockamamie BS isn’t just desperate, it’s childish.

Maybe the most important Afterburner yet. Same conclusion posted at Moonbattery: Fast & Furious Motive Becomes More Obvious:

No wonder Obama is willing to resort to the extremely desperate measure of inappropriately exerting executive privilege to keep F&F documents from becoming public. If they confirm that he explicitly approved providing weapons to foreign drug cartels so that he could use the inevitably ensuing bloodshed to undermine the Constitution he is sworn to uphold, he should be tried for treason.

Follow the Ideology” has been all over Twitter. It hits hard and it’s gonna leave a mark.

Now, as Breitbart.com says, it’s Time For Super PACs to Tell the Truth About Fast & Furious :

Forget about the media. No amount of shaming will ever convince those moral illiterates to tell the full and complete story of Fast and Furious. If you think Brian Williams and those who staff every other newsroom in this country went to journalism school to hold power accountable and inform the public, think again. The guns that the government sent to the drug cartels were in no way “inferior”.
The Barrett’s that were sold were the same as the ones that go to our military – with only a few cosmetic differences.
The AR-15s and AK-47s are, in the main, the same as the military-issue weapons – with the exception of not being capable of full-auto fire. They require extensive milling and machining (internally) and parts replacement to enable reliable full-auto capability.
None of that really matters, though, since the guns were sold (or given) to the cartels with instructions that they were to be dropped at the scene of murders so that they could be “traced” back to US dealers.

I agree with Whittle that the goal of F&F was gun control in the US.

The use of law enforcement to break laws for an ideological end is evil, pure and simple evil.

If proof is found, then I expect impeachment and then criminal trials for the deaths tey caused.

Why can’t rainbows and unicorns take over the Senate?
Why can’t I eat chocolate all day, every day?
Why can’t Rodney King live forever?
Why can’t “is” simply mean is?
Why can’t you conservatives just think what we think? (and if you don’t think what we think then your just racist, warmonger, hateful, fascist, who want us all dead)
Why can’t our childish dreams, concocted out of thin air, thought by you conservatives as cockamamie, be accepted world wide?
WHY?

Ugh, threw up a little in my mouth there for a second.

Pushing some fever dream that Obama hates guns, which he has done nothing to suggest that he does (except maybe for the fact the he’s liberal), is ludicrous.

‘When I was first introduced to Obama, he said: “Oh, you’re the gun guy.” ‘I responded: “Yes, I guess so.” “I don’t believe that people should be able to own guns,” Obama replied. I then suggested that it might be fun to have lunch and talk about that statement sometime. He simply grimaced and turned away, ending the conversation. That was the way numerous interactions with Obama went. At the one faculty seminar that I saw Obama attend, he asked a question, but it didn’t appear that the speaker understood the point. After the seminar, I went up to him telling him that I thought he had an interesting point but that it might have been clearer if he phrased it differently. Obama’s response was simply to turn his back.’
