Confirmed: Noted orator just copy-pasting from old speeches now

posted at 7:16 pm on June 15, 2012 by Allahpundit

I guessed yesterday that this ad was coming and now here it is. The RNC did this to him a few months ago too, comparing passages from his 2012 budget speech in early April to passages from his 2011 budget speech. This new ad compares passages from yesterday’s speech to passages from … the 2012 budget speech in April. In other words, not only has he recycled rhetoric that’s more than a year old, he’s done it more than once. What the hell are his speechwriters busy with these days that they can’t set aside time to find fresh language for a “major” speech on the left’s and right’s competing economic visions? Either they’ve embraced the religion of talking points so thoroughly that they’ve taken to repeating not just the same points but the same sentences or they simply have nothing new to work with because O won’t give them any serious proposals worth writing about. Whatever the answer, it’s worth noting that the earlier RNC ad ran just 80 seconds whereas this one clocks in at nearly three minutes, presumably because there was that much more material cribbed from an earlier speech yesterday. He’s actually getting more repetitive, not less.

That’s the first clip. The second, via Moe Lane, comes from American Crossroads and is more impressionistic about the effect of his oratory these days. When even the press is bored, who’s left?

This is such smart politics, but so often underutilized, IMO — using the candidate’s own words (which only works when they’re as packaged and programmed as our “faux” president is).

I’m still waiting for the mainstream ad (rather than merely on YouTube) where the Deval Patrick and BHO “words” and “your own audacity” speeches are played side by side. Identical. Verbatim. [I have both videos, if anyone is interested, but they're readily available.]

Both Axelrod clients as candidates. And Patrick ran first.

BHO hasn’t only recently become a chronic speech recycler.

He’s a repeat offender.

The Professor-in-Chief consider repetition to be a valid form of learning, especially when dealing with his duller students, the bulk of the American public.

That’s why yesterday’s efforts took him 54 minutes. He was trying to speak more slowly and loudly to get us idiots to finally understand.

I hope he gives another speech next week.

It’s a winning formula, Mr. President – really it is!

Drained Brain on June 15, 2012 at 7:35 PM

Kudos to the team who put this together the next day. Not only has he said the same thing over and over and over, he can’t even remember that he said it, so he has to read it.

Does anyone think his pot and chooming (or whatever) has affected his memory? Did he ever say when he gave it up? I hope OUR White House curtains, furniture, etc., are not stinking from his pot.

Maybe this is a good lesson for those of you who think there is nothing wrong with pot, do you really want to end up like obama that can’t even talk to a 5th grade class without his cheaters?

BTW, presciently, from the same Super Tuesday speech:

Now, President Obama seems to believe he’s unchecked by the Constitution. He’s unresponsive to the will of our people. He operates by command instead of by consensus. In a second term, he’d be unrestrained by the demands of re-election. And if there’s one thing we cannot afford is four years of Barack Obama with no one to answer to.

we are the target audience. it is important to keep our morale up…and for us to maintain focus on what a cipher barry is.

but, really barry is not a total cipher. he wants a Mandate. that mandate is to continue the project to fundamentally transform the country.

one big objective is to destroy the R party. Step 1. Spend like a madman Step 2. Force Rs to raise taxes to avoid a total collapse

cleave the R party into small regional parties…libertarian, social cons, etc.

Am I the only one who wonders whether the repetition was intentional, and for the sake of getting the speech before viewers who ordinarily wouldn’t see it? If anyone had merely asked a Republican or conservative organization to take one and a half minutes of the President’s stated opinions and repeat them for emphasis, the answer would have been, “No.” However, that is what is happening now.

Of course it’s all recycled. There are no “new” socialist ideas. Barry has nothing left in his play book. Just more of the same.

1. It’s ALWAYS the fault of someone else.

2. Socialist Truth is the only Truth.

3. Socialist ideas are the only one’s that work.

4. He needs MORE time.

5. He needs MORE money.

I prefer to take Barry at his word. “If this isn’t resolved in 3 years, then it’s a ONE TERM proposition.”

Sherman1864 on June 16, 2012 at 6:47 AM

I think someone forgot to take the old speech out of the TelePrompter. You can almost see a “hey, this sounds familiar” look on his face at one point.

Paul507 on June 16, 2012 at 7:47 AM

Zero cuts the budget for speechwriters and this is the thanks he gets.

In his speechwriters’ defense, look what minimal talent they have to write for. Plus, recycling speeches cuts down on Zero’s prep time, since he has so many other time-consuming responsibilities.

In the RNC ad, they should have ended it with a clip of the speech from a few years ago when TOTUS stuck and Zero said to scroll it up, because he had already read that part.

MrKleenexMuscles on June 16, 2012 at 12:00 PM

Priceless. But, will these brilliant web ads ever get into general broadcast circulation. O is going for dirt, ridicule is the only effective weapon to combat it. God knows, the entertained ignorant would enjoy it and maybe, just maybe, see the sheer idiocy on display.
