Palin to headline Right Online

posted at 10:01 am on June 5, 2012 by Ed Morrissey

The Right Online conference won’t have Andrew Breitbart’s presence for the first time in several years, as Politico’s Kenneth Vogel notes, but his spirit will certainly be there, as grassroots activists and bloggers converge on the Venetian resort hotel in Las Vegas on June 15-16.  That won’t be the only lift that attendees get, as the event announced yesterday that Sarah Palin would headline the conference:

The conservative blogosphere has yet to move past the death of patron saint Andrew Breitbart, but it will get a major jolt this month from an equally provocative hero: Sarah Palin.

The former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee has committed to delivering the keynote address at Right Online, the annual gathering of conservative bloggers and online activists organized by the Koch-backed non-profit group Americans for Prosperity Foundation.

Vogel also notes that this is the first time that Right Online has decoupled itself from Netroots Nation.  Until now, the conservative conference booked itself in the same city and same weekend as the progressive event, the better to challenge its message.  Right Online, however, has grown into its own force.  It’s also the second time that Right Online has chosen Las Vegas and the Venetian as its venue, and it would make a good permanent home.  Not only is Vegas very accessible from nearly everywhere in the country, the Venetian is owned by conservative activist Sheldon Adelson, and the Venetian/Palazzo complex is the only non-union resort on the Vegas Strip.

The conference will honor Breitbart, and has some great featured speakers — including the Boss Emeritus, Michelle Malkin, whose recent launch of Twitchy will get plenty of attention.  The aim at this conference is to take grassroots activism to the next level, and Vogel describes some of the schedule:

This year’s meeting is focused on higher-level tactics and strategies than past year’s editions of Right Online, which sometimes had the feel of a crash course on blogging 101. The Vegas conference features training on video exposes to be conducted by guerrilla video journalist James O’Keefe, a session on polling featuring conservative’s favorite pollster Scott Rasmussen and a session moderated by columnist Michelle Malkin entitled “How to Use Facebook & Twitter to Win,” which will include instruction on using social media to drive narratives.

I’ll actually be on the same panel as Scott Rasmussen, discussing polls and analysis of their data.  While I’m at the conference, I also plan to report on the activities, get a few interviews, and give Hot Air readers a real flavor of Right Online.  Of course, you could always join us and get a flavor of it for yourselves.

Update: I wrote that the conference chose the Venetian for the first time, but what I meant was that it was the first time it had chosen the same hotel and city a second time.  We went to the Venetian two years ago, and had a blast.  Steve Eggleston caught my goof-up, which was caused by sloppy editing of two sentences into one.

Watch the Rombots throw dirty underwear against the tent wall as their hero, Prince Mittens the Etched, is revealed to be a seriously underwhelming faux-bot liberal Republican of the kind that would make John Lindsey look like Julius Streicher.

I mean, now that we know that Mitt’s chief of staff to be is a former governor who not only is an Obamacare fan, but wants to keep most of it, the mask is off the Squishtard, as it were.

Expect Bishop, King Gold, and the rest of the Mittbot Usual Suspects to try and keep everyone in line by trashing genuine Reagan Conservatives like Palin. Meanwhile, the liberal “Rising Tide Lifts All Yachts” GOP will try to make sure that Governor Marmalarde is safely nominated by trashing Palin and other conservatives. This is all cover for Mitt’s programmatic liberalism. Gotta pull the wool over the eyes of the hoi polloi, don’t ya’ know!

Maureen Dowd channels Sarah Palin..:)

This is why Sarah Palin rules the left!

Here’s Obama sycophant Maureen Dowd of the New York Times on June 2, 2012.
“In some ways, he’s still finding himself, too absorbed to see what’s not working. But the White House is a very hard place to go on a vision quest, especially with a storm brewing. “

Here’s Sarah Palin at the Republican National Convention on September 3, 2008.
“My fellow citizens, the American presidency is not supposed to be a journey of “personal discovery.” This world of threats and dangers is not just a community, and it doesn’t just need an organizer. “

Palin is an conservative American phenomenon. No pol has created their own weather system with such ease. None can deliver the loyalty of her supporters. She is literally the wind beneath her own wings. Even the most staid Romneyites (ahem) must admit it. She rocks, hard.

She is not a new-media guru.

I’ll actually be on the same panel as Scott Rasmussen, discussing polls and analysis of their data. While I’m at the conference, I also plan to report on the activities, get a few interviews, and give Hot Air readers a real flavor of Right Online.

Your reporting is among the most underrated online, right or left. You deliver solid news without party-line hype. Hot Air is the source for conservatives to get hard-news and commentary.

That said, I hope that you have corrected your methodology for parsing returned search queries. Many synapses were sauteed upon reading this.

Most important election in our lifetime.

EVERY SINGLE ELECTION is the “most important election in our lifetime.” That line had the power to move me back in the 1990s when we thought Bill Clinton was the Antichrist. Now it just makes me yawn. Particularly now that I know that whatever the Democrats do this year will be accepted by the GOP as immutable next year.

Ideologically speaking, a goofball who’s VERY conservative is a lot better than a picture-perfect suit that made the blueprint for Obamacare.

MelonCollie on June 5, 2012 at 10:15 AM

Politics and elections are about a lot more than ideologies. Philosopher-kings have no place in modern democratic republics.

Awesome. Hope you post video of your panel, Ed.

You forgot shooting wolves from helicopters and building oil pipelines through The Garden of Eden.

Fenris on June 5, 2012 at 10:52 AM

You also forgot book burning and mass murderer.

tencole on June 5, 2012 at 11:46 AM

C’mon, lets just say what everybody’s thinking. She’s a cannibal! A bloodthirsty face-chewing cannibal!

I blame the coal industry.

Fenris on June 5, 2012 at 12:36 PM

Wow, I must say, I am impressed by the discipline the Palin detractors are demonstrating. Big improvement over days of ole. The lack of trolls is also quite surprising. Though I never or seldom give credit to trolls for anything. Funny!

Seems like you haven’t learned much then. Do you think that Obama isn’t a thousand times worse than Clinton??

At least Clinton moved to the middle a bit to work with the GOP, Obama will NEVER do that!

And the debt is so out of control that if we don’t stop the bleeding NOW, we really are screwed.

So yet it IS the most important election in our lifetime!

LevinFan on June 5, 2012 at 12:39 PM

I couldn’t resist bringing this over here from another thread. Its just too funny!

As someone who greatly admires Palin

Sarah Palin is the Joan of Arc of our time

P Bonz on June 5, 2012 at 11:38 AM

Excellent analogy. She has been figuratively burned at the stake by the left wing media who have proclaimed her to be the Wicked Witch of the North.

UltimateBob on June 5, 2012 at 1:32 PM

as Politico’s Kenneth Vogel notes:

The conservative blogosphere has yet to move past the death of patron saint Andrew Breitbart,

No bias in that statement there. Nope, none at all.

A Sarah Palin thread that still hasn’t broken 100+ after EIGHT HOURS ?

This might be a record low, for HotAir. Certainly since I’ve been commenting here.
