Video: S.E. Cupp and “The View” slam “Hustler”

posted at 4:01 pm on May 24, 2012 by Allahpundit

Via Greg Hengler, a cleansing bit of feelgood bipartisan solidarity after yesterday’s sleaze. Has anyone on the left actually defended the “Hustler” stunt, incidentally? Hasselbeck says here that she can’t get NOW to pick up the phone (yet), but the only liberal willing to go to bat for Flynt that I’ve seen is this miserable has-been. Did I miss any others?

Yesterday’s deep thought from the man responsible was that the photoshop of Cupp is “satire,” even though it’s unclear to everyone what’s being “satirized.” Here’s today’s deep thought, which is a lot closer to satire than yesterday’s was:

In an interview with Reihan Salam for Vice magazine, pornographer Larry Flynt reveals that he’s now a hardcore supporter of President Obama’s just two years after calling Obama an “ineffectual wimp” for giving in too much to Republicans.

“I think President Obama has overperformed,” Flynt says. “He got handed on his platter when he became president more than any president in history ever had to deal with…. I think he’s done a marvelous job.”

Two clips for you, the first from “The View” and the second, via Mediaite, of the “Red Eye” crew wondering whether she can sue. The moment when Cupp talks about feeling ashamed despite having done nothing at all will break your heart. If it’s any comfort to her, and I’m guessing it’s not, there’s nothing personal in what “Hustler” did. If they hadn’t used her image, they would have used Michelle’s or Ann Coulter’s or Ann Romney’s or some other conservative woman’s. It was an attack on all; she just happened to be the one who took the hit. There’s a funny bit of truth too in the other clip when Gutfeld describes freaking out years ago after he found out his sister’s boyfriend bought “Hustler” instead of “Playboy.” The striking thing about the photoshop is that, even in the context of a porn mag, there’s no pretense made that it’s supposed to be titillating. It’s pure degradation, explicitly designed as punishment for her politics. That’s the same vibe that made Greg shudder, even as a kid.

Negative.

The only way to see GBTV is to pay for the subscription side of his website.
You can use ROKU to get it on your television screen, but you still must subscribe.

He must pay people pretty well b/c it seems like she would prefer to be on Fox News to get more exposure. You are kind of walled off from potential fans if you are on Beck’s subscriber tv network.

I think that response was in reference to the printed photo not the View television show appearance.

The Hustler picture has been blurred by main stream outlets. Someone on this thread was wanting to see a copy of it and wanted to know where to find one.

It seems like a lot of the bloggers and writers on Daily Caller do not post stuff on a regular basis. Like Mary Hamm seems to barely post on there but she’s supposed to be one of their top bloggers. What’s up with that?

What’s your opinion on Dr. Who?

Esthier on May 24, 2012 at 6:02 PM

Heh…um…how to answer this…

I’ve been wearing the key to the TARDIS around my neck for about 20 years. I’ve been a diehard Whovian since…well, since it originally was cancelled. I watched the awful, horrible FOX movie when it was first broadcast. So, if we’re talking about the original series, I think it’s the most entertaining sci-fi television series of the 20th century. Watch it, watch it, watch it. If you need a story to get you started, I would recommend either “Spearhead from Space”(which starts off the Third Doctor), or “Robot”(which starts off the Fourth, most people’s favorite incarnation).

The new one? Ehhhhh…put simply, Matt Smith is the first good Doctor of the series. Eccleston was merely okay, and Tennant was an abomination; an overemotional ham that was barely watchable. Russell T. Davies brought back my favorite show…and ruined it with preachy, overpersonal, malingering writing. Steven Moffatt, thankfully, has reversed that trend. If you’re going to watch the new show, I’d recommend watching the first season, then skipping over Tennant completely. I can’t even begin to go into all that was wrong with his Doctor.

Absolutely shameful. The photo and the lack of response from the left. Sure, some support, but overall not nearly the reaction there should be decrying this. Ms Cupp is a very smart and lovely young lady and does not deserve such treatment merely for her political beliefs. She should “take a shot” at the scumbag Flynt with a lawsuit. His defense “wouldn’t have a leg to stand on”.

It would be a mistake for the left to talk about the Hustler picture much, since it’s easy to associate Hustler with Democrats and Flynt as an Obama supporter. Conservatives shoudln’t expect liberals to be that stupid on the politics of this.

I’ve only watched one episode, and it was the first one available on Netflix, I think. It was a little too campy for my taste, but I’ve heard the show varies a lot from doctor to doctor.

Sexism is real and this comment is already way too long. I don’t expect to hold your interest beyond this paragraph. Hell, I usually lose interest about half-way through, myself. I won’t be offended if you do the same. What follows is bound to be disjointed, redundant and criminally-verbose. Enjoy. Or not.
-blog commenter at a website on the internet in the universe

Sarah Palin suffered endured torrential waves of innuendo, insults and attacks. The venom was filtered through Palin but directed toward all women. Real men would have defended her on that basis rather than partisan-posturing. (Sarah Palin defends herself better than any man ever will. #duh)

There is not one person on either side of the fence who has any real credibility on this issue. IMNSHO nobody has a strong track-record of standing up for women en masse. Michelle Malkin is very consistent on such issues. She does not tolerate sexism. But even Malkin kinda phones it in when defending lib women. On the left you may hear momentary empathy for conservative victims of sexism. That soon devolves into blaming Republican-women for their own plight.

I’m guessing it’s not, there’s nothing personal in what “Hustler” did. If they hadn’t used her image, they would have used Michelle’s or Ann Coulter’s or Ann Romney’s or some other conservative woman’s

I disagree.

I think S.E’s sex-appeal plays a big role in this. That is not to blame her. (Aside from NOT being conservative enough, she did nothing wrong.) I think that S.E. is extremely photogenic and that makes her sexual-fodder.

Malkin and Coulter are great authors, good-looking too. But S.E. is younger and fresher. Simply put, she’s better eye-candy and the pigs ran with it.

Sexism is a problem. I repeat sexism is a problem. As soon as Republicans accept that we will be effective voices against it. For now the right seems reactionary in that there’s only a ruckus when it’s one of ours. Same goes for the left. If you only complain when it hurts you’ll only get medicine; you’ll never get healthy.

Everyday hardliners on the left and on the right use gender-based insults to disparage their opponents. If you laugh at Rachel Maddow jokes, how can you complain about this? If NOW can’t morally right itself and denounce this garbage, why should any conservative EVER take them seriously.

Sexism is real and this comment is too long. I personally stopped listening to what I was saying about half-way through. I won’t be offended if you do the same. Rights and respect are not partisan principles. Maybe they should have called “feminism” “womenism.”

It is pure camp, I admit. You’ve got to have a taste for that sort of thing. I’m telling you, though…it becomes a very fun show when you get into it.

As for Torchwood…it might have been decent if it weren’t packed with one-dimensional twentysomething douchepuddles. I liked Captain Jack as a character quite a lot, because I always believed the Doctor needed a weapons guy. However…they just focus so damned much on his sexuality that the concept turned me off.

Can’t resist, either. Love the revival. It strikes a great balance of action, drama, sly humor, and mind bend-iness that every sci-fi serial should have. I was too young to really appreciate the original series, so I can’t compare the two. I have a vague impression that they were a little more staid (if a show whose iconic image is a guy with a gigantic fro battling trash cans with plungers on them can be called “staid.”) Maybe that’s why I enjoy the new doctors more — not having the same expectations. I think all three of the new guys are great, though Matt Smith can be annoyingly spastic sometimes.

Dr. Tesla on May 24, 2012 at 6:52 PM

However…they just focus so damned much on his sexuality that the concept turned me off.

It really got ridiculous, especially considering how aggressively bi he was, just mostly gay. Starz picked it up for Miracle Day, which had an interesting take on his inability to die.

Completely agree about the character though. They easily could have toned it down at least.

S.E. Cupp a regular on Maher’s show per Dr. Tesla? Ughh. Why? He should be entirely avoided by Conservative women unless they’re going on shorty’s show to challenge him directly. To sit there, preening and smiling at his corny wry jokes–makes me sick. And it’s not the deranged hyper-partisan I object to, it’s the man’s savagery.

Dr. Tesla on May 24, 2012 at 6:48 PM

With all of your other posts, this is just plain creepy…you need help, seriously, you really should seek professional help, you are a sick person, God bless you…please seek some help.
I know this won’t do much good, stalkers, obsessive people never see themselves in that light, they always imagine things like this:

I get ignored by most people I tweet to. But in the last 2 weeks, I have annoyed Couric, Alec Baldwin, Jason Alexander, and some others. They hate tweeted me, then blocked me.

I’m not expecting a response from anybody I tweet but she’s reading her tweets and my message got through. I think it’s a good question but no obligation to answer it. I think I know the answer but I’m open minded.

Dr. Tesla on May 24, 2012 at 6:40 PM

Listen, read this sincerely and carefully, you are not well. Just that post (let alone the others) show that you are a person having a difficult time, we don’t want it to go any further.

If you give us the city you live in, I am sure there are people posting on here that can find you the help and support you need.

I want you to know, I am sure many people are praying for you, and ask that you take that one step, that one small step to reach out to someone and let them help you…

Oh please let’s stop having the vapors and climbing aboard the Feigned Outrage train every time some cretin does something cretinous. All this has done is drive up their circulation. This is silly.

PROVE IT little man. I challenge you to find ONE comment I made “sniping” at Tina Korbe.

Flora Duh on May 24, 2012 at 7:04 PM

You and I have had our differences…but please, don’t take this very man/woman seriously, they are not well.
We need to hope they reach out and we can help them…

Before Rick shoved knives in the zombie heads in that one episode (to conserve ammo), they were using melee weapons before then, sometimes because some of the guys lacked firearms, like Glenn used a machete on a zombie in the Pharmacy.

Andrea stuck a screw driver in the eye socket of a zombie on the RV.

And I’ll watch it, but mostly for that woman who showed up at the end of last season. I’ve heard she’s a great character in the comic.

Esthier on May 24, 2012 at 7:11 PM

I bet she’ll be exciting.

My top favorite characters are Rick and Daryl.

I learned how to make one when I was 11.

I’d have no idea how to make one!

Well i’ll take you at your word, i don’t need to prove anything on here, we are not in court. Some of your clones on here were pretty anti-Tina Korbe, and you can’t say that about me. :)

Thought so. And now, I bid you a not so fond farewell.

True, but not as much as they should have been, imo anyway. Like I said, probably being too harsh. I had high expectations for the show.

My top favorite characters are Rick and Daryl.

I lost a little respect for Rick after the (spoiler – kinda) prisoner incident. He’s always trying to do the right thing, except when he’s not. It would have been better if they’d done nothing with that kid.

Stuff like that always makes it seem like they’re trying to hard with the drama.

I’d have no idea how to make one!

Dr. Tesla on May 24, 2012 at 7:28 PM

Good to see Cupp giving Larry all the publicity. She needs to grow a thicker skin, or not be a political personality on TV. This is what Larry Flynt does. Cry about it and you make him stronger. Why don’t you wimps start crying hate crime while you are at it.

LevStrauss on May 24, 2012 at 7:30 PM

Esthier on May 24, 2012 at 7:22 PM

I feel sorry for the Rick character, because no matter how he handles any situation, he gets raked over the coals for it on blogs.

I agree with you on that prisoner thing. I was disappointed that Rick was going to shoot a kid in the head. Up to that point Rick was very decent and even handed.

However, a lot of people were rooting for Rick to get ruthless about things like that. I saw lots of people on blogs criticizing him for not being ruthless like Shane.

But I bet you could make a regular bow and arrow.

Now read again the quote about you tweeting, and read it again…it is written by someone who is very disturbed.

I am sincere…very sincere, you need help.

However, a lot of people were rooting for Rick to get ruthless about things like that. I saw lots of people on blogs criticizing him for not being ruthless like Shane.

I’m just to the point where I want some consistency. He was being “kind” in saving the kid, but why did he save him? He clearly had no idea what to do with him, and it would have been much better if they’d just gotten out of there with no blood on their hands. Because he was right that they wouldn’t be able to trust the kid.

But I think that’s more of a problem with the writing. They made up this ridiculous scenario just to show how “depraved” society gets or something, and it just seemed contrived.

Thank you for the vote of confidence. :o)

Google S.E. Cupp takes on Bill Maher and see what you come up with.

Flora Duh on May 24, 2012 at 7:00 PM

Did see a few links of her appearances on Maher’s show and a quick vid on Mediate. I have a tepid reaction to it, but then anything short of jumping over the Real Time desk and strangling Maher with his own necktie is tepid to me. :-) I’m a Laura Ingraham kind of gal.

Many people seemed angry at me for my past ways. Some even said, “I wish that one or this one was still around.” I never chose one of them. They chose. They didn’t have discipline. Some know exactly how to parse. So all you can do is wait. I swore off it. I have never cared much for reading his comments. So I don’t. Lately a lot of folks complain to me about him. I don’t do that anymore, I feel like responding. Don’t get me wrong, I will still gladly walk them to the door. I’m no fool I love the breeze the glorious hammer creates. Sometimes you just have to wait. Resign yourself to never thinking it will occur. And then……………..it does. ; )

Bmore on May 24, 2012 at 7:41 PM

Flora Duh on May 24, 2012 at 7:24 PM

I don’t know, I say that because I have offended so many over the years…I hope I didn’t.

I take nothing personal on the internet, I imagine face to face most people are not what they appear on a blog…and indeed most people who have said they would take me to the woodshed, or posted I was a liar (mad con the latest), in person they would never say that to me, I guarantee it…
It has been a fun 6 or 7 years on here…I sometimes wish we could all meet somewhere…the one person (only one) I talked to personally, on the phone, was upinak, what a delightful and insightful lady, I dug her and think she is awesome…don’t always agree, but she is great.

You ever hear about people who are 7 foot tall and everyone says “What’s it like up there, or Hows the weather up there”…that’s how it is when you guys post “not2bright”…it’s redundant, over and over again…whenever someone doesn’t have a good argument, or anything worth while, they throw out the easiest “clever” insult they can possibly think of…something that no one else has ever done…good grief.
I used to keep a list of all the “clever” variations of my name, but then they just were so lame.
