Boehner: Sure, I might support Schumer’s bill to tax Eduardo Saverin’s wealth

Skip to 7:15 for the key bit. In fairness, he emphasizes that he’ll support it only if it’s “necessary.” There’s already an “exit tax” on the books, which Saverin paid, and a separate law that says an expatriate can be barred from re-entering the U.S. if the DOJ determines that he renounced his citizenship for tax purposes. Saverin quit the U.S., evidently with his tax liability in mind, because leaving before the IPO meant the “exit tax” would apply only to the gains on his Facebook shares as of his departure. (It also spared him from a potentially enormous estate tax bill, assuming the estate tax goes back into effect next year.) Schumer’s bill would build on the current legal framework. It’s pretty big: any ex-pat with either a net worth of over $2 million, or an average income tax liability of at least $148,000 over the last five years, “will be presumed to have renounced their citizenship for tax avoidance purposes.” The ex-pat will have to demonstrate to the IRS that this is not the case if it is not. If there is a “legitimate reason” for that person living outside the U.S. no penalties will apply. But if the IRS finds that someone gave up their passport for tax purposes, they will impose a tax on that individual’s investment gains “no matter where he or she resides.”
The rate of that capital gains tax will be 30 percent — the same that non-resident aliens currently pay on dividends and interest earnings.
The tax detailed this act, if approved, will backdate for 10 years after its approval.
Are those new provisions “necessary”? Schumer and his co-sponsor, Bob Casey, sure think so: They’ve seized on Boehner’s comments to Stephanopoulos yesterday to demand that he bring the bill to the floor in the House. Given that Grover Norquist compared it last week to some sort of Nazi initiative, I’m guessing that would be a mighty interesting vote. In fact, given how bitterly the Schumer bill was attacked last week by conservatives, I’m shocked that Boehner even tepidly endorsed it here. His basic point is straightforward: It’s “outrageous” that anyone would value their citizenship so cheaply that they’d discard it to save money. Being an American should mean more than that. The knock from the right, though, is that Saverin was simply responding rationally to terrible tax policies; if you don’t want entrepreneurs to leave, enact tax reform that makes the U.S. more competitive globally. I think the response from NRO’s David French is more persuasive (would doves who renounce their citizenship because they disfavor U.S. foreign policy be applauded?), but unlike Boehner, even French thinks Schumer’s bill is a lame gimmick. I’d love to see a poll on the subject, but in the meantime Boehner will spend a few days squirming while his office figures out why the Schumer/Casey bill isn’t so “necessary” after all.

You have no understanding of history, at all. The Iraq WAR was because their hussein broke all of the cease-fire agreements, was attacking us, and posed a greater threat to our interests (in the wake of 9/11 and the rational reassessment of the world that put aside the asinine view that idiots like you had forced on people) than we could stand. It was A WAR. Approved by Congress, including every Dem primary candidate in 2008 who had been in Congress for it.
Egypt occurred when Barky stabbed a US ally in the back and withdrew all US support (that we had treaty obligations to maintain, not mention was in our interests to insure). Barky pulled a Carter with the arab version of Iran. Without Congressional approval or even Congressional discussion of any sort. Same with the illegal war in Libya, that Barky decided all on his lonesome to put the US military into – making some joke of no-fly zone that somehow included hitting SUVs with Libyan yahoos and machine guns on them. Man, those SUVs were certainly kept out of the airspace and their machine guns weren’t allowed to take any aircraft down (aircraft flying over Libya without any Congressional approval, again).

The theory of everything?
Benghazi was a gunrunning operation, to Syrian rebels, of used & new US and other materiel from Libya. It was a secret because of secret agreements with the Russians that we would not arm the rebels in Syria.
The operation was funded with misappropriated funds; see: Iran-Contra.
Iran found out about it and desperate to choke off the rebels supply of arms, Iran struck at the consulate. It was not a terrorist strike, it was an act of war by a foreign nation. The REB has to keep that a secret because the only logical response is to go to war against Iran.
Bonus points: the death toll was far more than four. Yes, four Americans died in Benghazi, but ask the question: how many additional deaths were there from the Benghazi firefight that happened during extraction or subsequently in hospitals? This has to be kept a secret for political reasons and to fend off calls for reprisals. This is why we can’t seem to find survivors.

I have health conditions..and am a healthcare agent.
I have spoken to 1000′s of people over the years..private conversations and personal health info and Privacy.
I take it very personal.
If they succeed with having every ones health history..do you know how many people could loose their 2nd amendment rights? I believe the stat just for anti-depressants is 1 out of 4 people in the US..either on one or been on one. That is just one RX.
I already go throw hell..with Fl passing the harshest law for pain management in the country.
Passed by..R’s. Yes..the Tea Party Bondi..ya know..less Govt in our lives and not interfering with Dr/patient relationship. It is a nightmare.

i’d like to continue my post on the RWM timeline.
So I think that it could be explained by incompetence…and just the general left wing world view that bad things are due to the US.
But, there is a consistency that is bothersome. The over running of the CIA station in AF when many agents and station chief were killed. The victory was sweet for the taleban i bet when barry announced to the world that they had hit a major cia station.
and i bet they rejoiced in the shoot down of the seal team after obl was killed. That was directly due to barry doing his end zone dance.
and i think that the campaign slogan ‘GM lives…and obl is dead’ made the islamists feel pretty good about taking our benghazi

Of course he prays in Arabic, but in the English translation he sent our heroes into eternal hell as infidels while praising the Islamist relationship with our country. You read that right, and our Government and our military let that happen.
This operation reads like a set up from the beginning. All the Special Ops forces were packed into one National Guard Chinook. There was no escort for the Seals that night, no pathfinder, and conveniently the “eye in the sky” (drone) didn’t work. The seven members of the Afghan military that were to accompany our service members were switched out just prior to take off. The names of the seven Afghans appearing on the flight manifesto were not the seven that boarded that helicopter on the night of August 6, 2011.
Apparently the call to switch out these seven Afghans was made by an “out of theater” commander. To this day, no one has come forward identifying that commander. America needs to demand an answer to that question. Remember, prior to this crash, Barack Obama and Joe Biden had identified Seal Team 6 as the forces that killed Osama Bin Laden. One has to ask, “were they a trade off for Bin Laden?”
In October 2011, US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that an investigation carried out following the shoot down concluded “that all operational decisions, linked to the incident, were deemed tactically sound” and the helicopter crashed after a RPG round impacted the aft rotor assembly.
While the Obama administration was busy spinning the coverup, other reports were surfacing that the Taliban had laid an elaborate trap for U.S. special operations forces, luring them in with false information. A senior Afghan government official, speaking anonymously, said that Taliban commander Qari Tahir had fed U.S. forces false information about a meeting of insurgent leaders and fighters waited for the helicopter from both sides of a steep valley: “The Taliban knew which route the helicopter would take. That’s the only route, so they took position on either side of the valley on mountains and as the helicopter approached, they attacked it with rockets and other modern weapons. It was brought down by multiple shots.”
It was heart wrenching listening to Karen Vaughn, a mother who lost her only son. He was a proud member of Seal Team 6. She is angry that current rules of engagement put her son’s life, and that of every son and daughter serving in the military today in grave danger. She demanded to know if reaching the hearts and minds of Muslim extremists is more important than her son’s life. She also expressed anger at the form letters the President keeps sending out when our children are killed.
Her husband, Billy Vaughn, recounted the visit they received from Admiral William McRaven, who was apparently sent to put a lid on their inquiries. The Admiral was the head of the Joint Strategic Objectives Plan (JSOP), as well as runner up for Time’s Man of the Year in 2011.
As the Vaughns are residents of Florida, they also approached Sen. Marco Rubio to enlist his assistance in their quest for answers. Sen. Rubio told him he would talk to his new BFF, John McCain, and see what they could do. Mr. Vaughn’s response was “No, thank you, I’ll do it myself, I don’t trust John McCain or the GOP establishment to pursue this.
Doug Hamburger, another grieving father has questioned why no interviews were done with Afghan Command or military in compiling the 1,250 page official report.
Charles and MaryAnn Strange lost their 25-year-old son, who had been a Navy Seal for 6 years. Mr. Strange made inquiries as to the whereabouts of the black box. He was told it washed away in a flood. His response was, “in Afghanistan?” After repeated questions, Mr. Strange was told everything was in “the book”. After requesting a copy of said book, he was presented with a book with no ink in it. When he questioned this and requested a true copy, he was told the original had been burned. They were then given a disk. Unfortunately for Mr. and Mrs. Strange, the disk was full of white outs.
Also present at the press conference was retired Admiral James Lyons. Admiral Lyons has a distinguished 36-year Naval career, mot recently as Commander in Chief of the Pacific Fleet. Admiral Lyons has also called for an answer to the question, “who made the decision to put them all on one helicopter”? He stated emphatically that this mission was compromised as the Taliban knew we were coming. The Admiral stated emphatically this was a dereliction of duty just like Benghazi; not to come to the aid of our people is unconscionable.
Joining the press conference were Army Major General Paul Vallely, General Tom MacInerney, Lt. Colonel Allen West, former Seals, Benjamin Smith and Larry Bailey and Act for America’s Brigitte Gabriel. From all of them came an admonition and dire warning that the American people must wake up and realize who the true enemy is: Islamist Jihadists. They are all unanimous in the belief we are being destroyed from within. Former Seal Benjamin Smith went so far as to say he believes Barack Obama is guilty of treason. I share that belief.
A recurring theme during this press conference was that we, the American people, must stand together and demand a Congressional hearing into Extortion 17. To date, only three of our House Representatives, Michelle Bachman, Louis Gohmert and Trent Franks have been actively working to assist the family members. Unfortunately, the same Congress that held a hearing to address drug usage in the NFL, has no interest in holding hearings to get to the bottom of what actually happened on the night of August 6, 2011 and the ensuing cover up.
It’s up to “We the People” to demand a hearing and help the families of our fallen heroes get the answers they rightfully deserve. Please not only watch this video, but make sure it goes viral. Then pick up the phone and call your Representative in Congress and demand a Congressional hearing. Keep calling until that hearing is scheduled. We’ve kept up the pressure on Benghazi. These families deserve no less from us.

Here is a full report by blogger Dr. Eowyn, who was at the Navy SEALS press conference yesterday. I wish I had been there, but I had to be deposed by that jackass yesterday.
Listening to these families is gutwrenching, and something we, as a great and free people, never see. This is what surrender looks like, America. Don’t like what you see? Get used to it. Obama has a lot more of this in store for us. Unless you get active.
We owe these families an uncalcuable debt. It took a lot of guts and patriotism (in the wake of their horrible loss) to do what they have done. The video must seen and sent everywhere.
