Video: New SBA spot skewers Obama’s “war on women” meme

posted at 12:01 pm on May 16, 2012 by Ed Morrissey

The pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List has a new video pushing back against the Democrat’s “war on women” talking point — and it’s pretty effective.  Done in the style of war propaganda, with a dollop of 1984 dropped into the mix, the first full minute of the spot takes the form of a government newsreel, from the Bureau of Womanhood Conformity.  It warns that women who do not toe the government line will no longer be considered legitimate women, at least until they get re-educated to conform to the beliefs of Dear Leaders Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi:

“The real ‘war on women’ is the one being waged against women of faith and conscience,” said Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “While this ad uses humor to make a point, the truth is that our rights are at stake. The Obama administration, their allies in Congress and the abortion lobby must end the assault on Life, conscience and religious liberty now.”

Thinking for yourself and adhering to your own beliefs and values — the very actions that will get you tossed out of the Approved Womenhood League.  The petition mentioned at the end can be found here.  At the very least, the video gives us a pretty good graphic to use for “war on women” posts in the future.

As evidenced by “Julia”, Obama and the `Rat party see women as faceless, voiceless, family-less wards of the State who reproduce by accident if at all.

All women think the same.
All blacks think the same.
All seniors think the same.
All gays think the same.
All Hispanics think the same (except “white Hispanics”).
All Cherokee Indians think the same.

That’s a pretty funny and on-point and effective ad, although it’s a bit too long even for me who agrees with the point of view being expressed. It could be edited down to an even more effective 30 second spot. Run it during “The View,” maybe.

No, the Progressive Marxist Democrat’s have never thought that women didn’t have brain’s. They knew and planned their strategies on women’s emotional responses being stronger then their cognitive inclinations. It is critical to understand this distinction otherwise it is impossible to understand how they have manipulated intelligent women into voting against their best interests.

The first 15 seconds are so abrasive, 60% will ignore the remainder completely.

The last 20 seconds is perfect, could stand by itself, and would be far more effective in communicating the entire message.

Women love to belong. They vote according to the ideology of the social friend clique the want to belong to. Women, in general, got caught up in the “Let’s make history and vote for the First Black President/HopenChange/We are who we’ve been waiting for” soundbites. Women are emotional and vote accordingly. But most of them are not stupid and when reality comes knocking on their door they wake up and do the right thing.

I know two women who are unhinged over the abortion issue even though they agree with conservative fiscal solutions. Both are unmarried 50s and have no children. I just dont understand why they feel so stronly about an issue that really doesnt effect them at all anymore over fiscal policy which has a big impact on them. The possibility that they are justifying past actions has crossed my mind.

If you don’t have a blog then set one up and start making friends. Once your blog is set up, it is only minimally more difficult to post as it is to put a comment on HA. Pretty soon you’ll be picked up on Google and traffic will start to happen by and others will see this. (Let us know about it here; Ed is a fan of cheap, shameless blog-whoring. Just listen to his afternoon show!)

That’s why these people put these ads out.

Ok Obama, you want to insist that taxpayers pick up the tab for a woman’s contraception?

As the mother of 4 daughters of child-bearing years I DEMAND the taxpayers also pick up the tab for their other “womanly needs!”

1.) Lady Bic Razors

2.) Summer’s Eve

3.) Sanitary Napkins and/or Tampons

4.) Midol. Lots and lots of Midol!

And as the mother of 2 sons I could also be really “liberal” and scream about the inequality of taxpayers not paying for their condoms!

I really have to question, though, who watches a web ad that is 1:45 in length? Isn’t it going to be watched by someone who already possibly agrees with the premise of the ad?

That’s the problem with web ads. It takes a commitment by the viewer to decide – click – wait for buffering – wait for buffering – wait – wait. Watch some of it – buuuuuuffferrringgg.

vs a TV ad that you’ll see during your favorite show. Passive involvement.

My point is, you can make a teeeriiffic ad, but if you don’t change minds, what’s the point?

kurtzz3 on May 16, 2012 at 12:47 PM

Are you referring to the idiocy the women’s lib movement became?

kurtzz3 on May 16, 2012 at 12:47 PM

I think this web ad could reach young 20something women who voted Obama in 2008 and now are waking up. I’m talking about women who aren’t committed Leftists obviously. It’s an intriguing premise to the video that draws someone in and then it’s extremely creative and it provokes the right string: it’s not preachy and it challenges someone, ‘hey, someone out there deems you not a woman and here’s why..’

The ad itself — creative. I’ve never seen a right-leaning ad quite like that in terms of doing what Breitbart wanted and fighting the Left on their territory — the creative, ironic pop landscape. Whoever came up with that material — it signals to me that we took one from their side, so to speak.

John the Libertarian on May 16, 2012 at 1:39 PM

I think the point they need to drive home early and often is this idea that a woman who desires to stay home and raise her children is somehow not a real women as being purely a Dem/Lib way of thinking.

The vast majority of women my wife and I meet are envious that she is able to stay home with our children, and verbally say they wish they could do the same. This doesn’t jive with this idea that all women want to be professionals and hate staying home to raise families.

We don’t buy new cars every other year, or own a McMansion, but we felt our kids were more important. Life is about choices.

It’s time to start hanging Truth around Libs necks.

This video strikes at the very heart of the entire Democrat propaganda angle. The notion is that if you do not support the “progressive” agenda, you aren’t a “real” woman.

Great message.

THIS could be used for every single one of the Democrat policies and “wars”: women, blacks, children, air and water cleanliness, shutting down talk radio and FOX, firing people for expressing opposition to the government….

An awful lot of people somehow missed that chapter on fascism in their history class. The cognizant disconnect necessary to be an activist Democrat or their borderline psychopath president is stunning.
