Audio: Cherokee genealogist says it’s time for Elizabeth Warren to come clean

posted at 8:58 pm on May 16, 2012 by Allahpundit

Via William Jacobson of Legal Insurrection, who’s owned this story along with the Breitbart team. Her name is Twila Barnes, she’s 7/32 Cherokee, and she just dropped a truth bomb on the Democrats’ favorite non-minority “minority”:

You see, Ms. Warren, some of us have independently done our own research and we know you have no documentation supporting your claim of Cherokee ancestry.* We wonder why you believe you have the right to claim Cherokee ancestry and to call yourself a Native American when you have no evidence to support your claim. While you cling to a family story and the inaccurate report that ONE document was found that supports your claim, we real Cherokees understand that those things mean nothing. You see, we Cherokees have lots and lots and lots of documentation supporting our claims of our ancestry. Our Cherokee ancestors are found on every roll of the Cherokee Nation (30+ rolls!) dating back to before the removal and in all sorts of other documentation, including but not limited to claims against the US government for lost property; the Moravian missionary records; ration lists before and after the forced removal, etc…yet your ancestors are found in NONE of those records…

Of course, you say you only “checked the box” in an attempt to meet others like you, but that doesn’t make sense. If one is claiming to be Cherokee and wants to meet other Cherokees, they don’t “check a box” on a job application or in a directory for their profession! They go to where Cherokees are…

*Note – Several people who are experienced researchers in Cherokee genealogy have been working together exploring Elizabeth Warren’s ancestry. They have uncovered many documents that, combined, paint a very clear picture that Warren descends from white people who had no connection whatsoever to the Cherokee Nation. These documents will be posted soon.

At this point she really would be better off calling a presser and putting this thing to bed by acknowledging that she has no proof of her ancestry. She could profess innocence: “My parents told me I was part Cherokee, they had no reason to lie, but I realize I should have confirmed the oral history with documentary evidence before listing it in a professional guide.” She’s held off on doing that because she needs to stand firm to impress the left when those darned wingnuts are in attack mode, but now that she has bona fide Cherokee taking her to task for claiming their heritage without proof, she’s facing a far more politically sympathetic antagonist. Says Larry Sabato, “It’s glued to her now. This is going to be with her throughout the campaign… I don’t know how it goes away when you have so many unanswered questions.” I think it’ll go away, more or less, if she does what I’ve suggested. We’ll still goof on her for it but the daily drip-drip-drip will at least be over for undecided voters in Massachusetts.

Here’s Barnes on with Howie Carr earlier today. Click the image to listen.

A Salem witch turned her Indian ancestor white. It’s documented on an old scrap of paper that her third cousin once removed found in a Massachusetts barn.

With Kagan being the dean at the time, the obvious frantic efforts to meet the law school’s minority quota, and accepting claims without a good faith effort to verify, might be causing her a bit of anxiety.

PatriotRider on May 17, 2012 at 9:16 AM

If she would have said right up front what the truth was, this whole thing just goes away. In trying to do clean up every day it makes it far worse. If she was really an astute Harvard law professor, she would know the best loss to take is the one you take at the earliest point. Now the taint is on not only her but all the people who are part of the cover-up. I really think some of these “Smart Liberal Minds” have not a lick of common sense. I can’t see how she can continue a viable campaign any longer.

buckeyerich on May 17, 2012 at 9:20 AM

Regarding her election chances now vs. Brown, there is only one question to ask: Is she a better or worse candidate than Martha Croakley?

buckeyerich on May 17, 2012 at 9:20 AM

Libtards live in the unreality bubble. When their bubble gets popped they freeze up. In her private sphere she could tell underlings to shut up and they would. Once dragged out into the spotlight, things don’t work that way. You are seeing how it’s working out for her.

One other point about MA, the largest bloc of voters are unenrolled, i.e., independents. They outnumber D’s & R’s combined! A very large number of them are ex-D’s who can’t quite go the whole way and change party affiliation but no longer identify with the lunacy that D’s here have become. Those won’t be voting for Warren, no way.

roy_batty on May 17, 2012 at 9:28 AM

I really hope Warren goes down in flames.

And the tears shed by the crew on Moaning Joe, who fawn over her every time she appears, will be absolutely delicious.

BuckeyeSam on May 17, 2012 at 9:31 AM

No kidding. Presumably she still wants to run for the US Senate. Her continued defense of her fraud must be getting in the way of what her campaign should be dealing with at this point. By coming clean and admitting she has no proof to back up her claims, this doesn’t go away but, frankly, becomes a non-issue.

ICanSeeNovFromMyHouse on May 17, 2012 at 9:43 AM

Elizabeth Warren may have actually shown us the way to finally dispose of racism-by-quota. The whole racial quota system will fall apart if we stop respecting racial categorizations. For example, if you want to go to Haavaad, just find out which “race” has the most favorable “quota”, and (in Warren’s words) “check the box”.

I could, for example, easily make the case for my being “African American”, despite the fact that I can’t even get a decent tan. Anthropologists are in general agreement that humanity originated in Africa. Therefore, because I am human, I can state unequivocally that I have ancestors that came from Africa.

FIGHT “QUOTA RACISM” BY SUBVERTING THE CORRUPT SYSTEM.

For the little people it still is. Try lying on an employment app and see what happens. She will try to lie her way out of this by saying she didn’t know.

The problem with that is she only used the lie selectively, when she needed an advantage to get what she wanted.

In a sane world, being exposed for this kind of fraud would instantly disqualify a candidate like Warren. But we don’t live in a sane world anymore. Connecticut voters knowingly elected a guy who had repeatedly lied about serving in Vietnam.

Warren still stands a good chance of being elected as a U.S. Senator in Massachusetts. That’s the real outrage in this story.

IMHO, this won’t go away even if she does “come clean”, because she has been “checking boxes” as a Native American FOR YEARS in order to gain an advantage in hiring as a “minority”.

Even if one of her grandparents had told her, when she was a little girl, that she might be 1/32 Cherokee, because of one document nobody ever showed her, the sensible and honest thing for Elizabeth Warren to do when applying for jobs would be to declare herself “white” (she is at least 31/32 white) and compete on an honest basis with other white people.

Voters might forgive her for believing an “old ladies’ tale” as a child which turned out to be false, but they will resent her for trying to use it to unfair advantage in her career.

She stopped checking the box in the late 90s do you suppose it had something to do with her maybe already taking a DNA test, and it showed she had no American Indian ancestry?

I haven’t read one account of anyone asking her a common sense straight forward question. “Elizabeth Warren have you ever taken a DNA test, if so what were the results?”

Some real enterprising journalist needs to ask her this question. And, if she hasn’t had the test perhaps the RNC should press her hard to take it. The more she refuses to take the test the worse she looks.

SC.Charlie on May 17, 2012 at 1:02 PM

She may not be releasing her records because she used the claimed status to get an AA hire (which she wouldn’t have gotten without it) – so then she would have cheated a real minority or honest non-minority person out of the job.

Marcola on May 17, 2012 at 1:20 PM

If Elizabeth Warren had done no more than tell people at cocktail parties and the like that she had a Cherokee ancestor, and let it go at that, I could feel sorry for her. Warren probably believed the family tall tale about a Cherokee princess ancestor that her grandmother told her.

However, it is obvious Elizabeth Warren used the Cherokee ancestor anectdote to take advantage of affirmative action and further her career without bothering to prove any indigenous descent. For that she deserves all the ridicule she is receiving.

And let’s not forget the absurdity of academia and its obsession with affirmative action and “diversity”. The University system advanced a blonde-haired blue-eyed white person on the basis of a spurious claim to minority status without verifying that Warren had any Cherokee ancestry at all.

blockquote>Is she a better or worse candidate than Martha Croakley?

coakley went into the campaign damaged goods rather than being revealed in the midst of the election cycle like princess digs big hole and jumps in. coakley is roundly loathed by a large segment of the middle class/blue collar populations over her vindictive persecution of the Amirault family and for refusing, at first ,to charge a somerville cop (with a union big wig daddy who was funding her DA run) who had sexually assaulted an infant with a hot curling iron. ( the mother of the baby had to go public to get any action. he was eventually charged and convicted but martha dragged her feet until pushed into action by the negative publicity.). she keeps getting re-elected as DA because no one ever seems to run against her and the victims of her “poor judgement” have been disempowered whites- not the monied or sacred minorities.

both coakley and princess lily white have the same problem – their contempt for the non-minority middle class and working poor – which they are unable to stop projecting all over the place. their fellow liberals may be fooled or more likely are just of the same ilk.

by claiming a minority status she did not deserve, warren showed her own mendacity, hypocrisy and, frankly, convoluted racism but also the absurdity of affirmative action .

i do not know what is more deeply offensive- warren stomping her hooves and seeing no problem with being harvard’s prized lone non-indian indian professor or the universities that shined her on unquestioningly or those who refuse to call her on it- like most of the media and dumbocrats in MA- who would be crucifying scott brown if the situation was reversed. no doubt he’d be called a racist exploiting indians and no amount of proof otherwise would satisfy them. but for princess lily white a recipe for herb dip doth an indian make.

There are two issues concerning Elizabeth Warren’s “minority status”. When Elizabeth Warren was getting a college education for her law degree, she was White – why? Why wasn’t Elizabeth Warren Cherokee – American Indian, when she applied to go to Rutger’s Law School? Because if she applied for a scholarship/advantage based on family lore of American Indian minority status, she would have been turned down without proof. There is no proof.

But Warren knows how to work the system. Once she’s educated as a white, and applies for university employment, apparently she could fudge, and become an affirmative action minority. Her word is good enough, she didn’t have to provide proof of her minority status….or did she? And those Universities won’t release her job applications showing where she identified herself as Cherokee, and or a Native American. If she is lying now, and saying that wasn’t the case, and the two Colleges didn’t follow the hiring rules, they all are in legal trouble. These are Law Schools, they know the Law.

Ward Churchill found out how long he could trade in his phony indigenous coin. If Warren had any political savvy, she would have diffused this issue with an apology. The reason she doesn’t is, because there is some kind of legal liability? Academic fraud?

Dr Evil on May 17, 2012 at 5:55 PM

Bride of Skeletor meets Super Tanned Woman?

Sherman1864 on May 17, 2012 at 7:21 PM

The solution is quite simple really: have this lying skank “prove” her alleged Cherokee ancestry by having a DNA test done. Surely there are genetic markers inherent to Indians (Feather, not Dot) that would show up in Whatsernames genes, right?

Failing that, we could always take a page out South Park’s book where an Indian sprinkled Truth Dust on some ranting blonde guy claiming to be Indian and POOF! the blonde guy instantly disappeared.

CatchAll on May 17, 2012 at 9:24 PM

The real solution is to abolish the system of racial and identity preferences that excludes and punishes ordinary White people without a “special” card to play.

If playing the (Native American) race card hadn’t given Elizabeth Warren an advantage over people with no card to play none of this would have happened.

David Blue on May 18, 2012 at 8:45 AM

Warren doesn’t even have high cheekbones.

Her deceits betray her motivations that coincide with Obama’s BORN IN KENYA self-promotion in order to BE MORE MULTI-CULTURAL than anyone as if that makes one “better” than another.

MLKjr. civil rights’ dream was for society and individuals to transcend race in the universal pursuit to honor INTEGRITY of character.

Like Warren, Obama is a liar, a fabricated construction of deceit.

A caller to last night’s Michael Savage show proved I’m not the only one who wants Obama removed from office, IMPEACHED, his records exposed and his administration’s “accomplishments” removed from law, his Supreme Court Justices summarily dismissed.

You’d think that the GOP would aggressively seek Obama’s impeachment. That they aren’t proves that the GOP wants what Obama has “accomplished” in order to gain that much more authoritative federal powers to abuse during their “turn” in office.

Savage questions the GOP effort to gain the White House ’12 given the responsive GWB, McCain, Romney servility to Obama’s re-election campaign. Were that the case, it supports the Jeb Bush ’16 mantra. By no means a Goldwater Republican like Ron Paul, even the mutant neoconservative Republican is a token ’12 candidate. From ABO to “Miss Me Yet” — Nothing surprises anymore.
