Video: Are you ready for Japanese robo-buttocks?

Via Kotaku and Popular Science, it’s been far too long since we’ve had a “Japan is insane” video reminder. Granted, nothing will top this one, but a palate cleanser doesn’t need to be indelible to serve its purpose. All it needs to do is make you gape in horror until your news-related worries float away. Wait until you get 2:50 or so of this one and the twitch cycle begins. Mission accomplished, I promise.

I have no idea what purpose this thing is meant to serve but Japanese robotics are often intended to solve demographic problems, so let that thought add to your discomfort. Exit question: This isn’t some new mechanized version of the lap pillow, is it?
