Video: Bill Ayers awfully confident that America’s best days are behind us

posted at 12:41 pm on May 2, 2012 by Morgen Richmond

While Bill Ayers roots for the demise of America some guy from his old neighborhood is presiding over it in Washington. Coincidence? You be the judge.

This is from an event last week at the University of Oregon where Ayers was speaking on “teaching and organizing for social justice”. Most of his presentation was about as dull as you’d expect, but you can find it here if you are interesting in watching any more of this.

So did Ayers leave out any tired stereotypes of the right? We get it, we’re a bunch of war hungry racists, hell bent on exploiting the world’s resources until the very last gasp of our dying empire. If only we’d accept our inevitable fate in the new world order, and fulfill the hopes of Ayers’ more optimistic friends. That we become like France.

Good lord.

It’s always interesting when leftists here in the U.S. talk about the need for “more democracy”. Because they don’t seem all that interested in democracy when the American people vote their opposition to the socialist agenda; which they consistently do when the dividing lines are made clear. Like in 2010. Don’t get me wrong. They’ve been able to steadily move their agenda forward (ahem) for decades by masking their real intentions under the guise of promoting fairness and equality. But if ever their real vision for America’s future was put to a vote, they would lose, overwhelmingly.

Though imperfect, America has consistently been a force for good in the world, not the evil empire people like Ayers believe us to be. Whether America’s influence on the world stage diminishes in this century is a choice we face, not an inevitability. Will we continue to borrow against our future prosperity at an unsustainable rate? Will we allow runaway growth in entitlement spending to choke off investments critical to our long-term security? Will we allow those sowing cultural division and class envy to succeed in setting us against each other? Ultimately the choice is simple even if the path ahead will be difficult: will we remain exceptional or will we succumb to the designs of those who are busy “re-imagining” a world where there is nothing great about America?

I just finished reading Brad Thor’s ‘Full Black’ and I’m surprised he didn’t mention Ayers by name. He certainly has identified the cancerous effect that his ilk has had on America, trying to hollow the country out through indoctrination in schools and eroding the idea of self sufficiency through expansion of entitlements.

I still remember Obama dismissing him as ‘just some guy from the neighborhood’ while the fourth estate nodded and smiled.

* GOP vote fraud

* Low turnout due to rain/sleet/snow/apathy

He forgot the star on his hat.

Wait, that’s a cat.

(Bill Ayers) and his wife, Bernadine Dohrn, former leaders of the radical anti-war group the Weather Underground, paid a visit to Occupy Wall Street protesters in Union Square Park in New York on March 30.

In a call with ABC News, Ayers declined to comment about that meeting.

Ayers said he has participated in May Day labor demonstrations “for about 50 years.”

“May Day is an international workers holiday all over the world. Only in U.S. do we not celebrate that history.”

I’m not a worker, Bill. I cherish my freedom too much to become a drone.

Fallon on May 2, 2012 at 1:12 PM

Ayers was speaking on “teaching and organizing for social justice”

That’s what ostensibly “former” communists always say they are doing — promoting “social justice”.

“Social justice” is the code phrase. Who can possibly be opposed to advancing such a noble goal?

Too bad the public school and mass media indoctrinated sheep are unaware the ultimate goal of Marxism, communism, and socialism, their reason for being, the central tenet of their doctrine, is “social justice” — and that their operative assumption is that true “social justice” can only be achieved by destroying inherently unequal capitalism, economic competition, and free markets.

So guess what Comrade Ayers is really “teaching and organizing for”.

Ayers is a buffoon.

If America is in decline, it’s because of an adherence to the nonsensical ramblings of 60′s radical thinkers like himself and their adherents. England, France and Germany (although the last one is suspect as it’s the economic power of Europe after being defeated in WWII) are not empires any more because they’ve adopted socialism.

And, if America does wane and lose its standing as the greatest world power, then who will take its place? China? India? Pakistan? Russia? Do any of these nations have the moral restraint to act in a humanitarian fashion? He may think that having China as the world’s only superpower would be a good thing– until they come and drag his grandson away to a firing squad for “thinking freely” on the internet.

American leftism has always been a pie-in-the-sky group of thinkers who can’t look beyond tomorrow. Ayers is the poster boy of the American Progressive and their disastrous rationalizing.

Nethicus on May 2, 2012 at 1:18 PM

America’s been in decline since at least the 1970s when the ‘superior’ communist system of the Soviet Union left us in the dust and gobbled up all our friends. (Because the Soviets were always so much better friends than the Americans.)

Oh, wait, I mean America went into decline in the 1980s, when Japan became an economic superpower, bought up all our real estate, and left us as a puppet state dependent on their approval.

Hold that, America *actually* went into decline in the late 90s and early aughts, when the European Union adopted a common currency, then a common (and enlightened) political union and showed the world how a massive entitlement state could overcome every cultural, religious and philosophical difference. (If only they could overcome arithmetic.)

No, really, America is NOW in decline because of China, who will be the largest economic power in another ten years if they can avoid all of the massive economic, environmental, political, corruption, real estate and/or labor conflicts that are bubbling to the surface. And, now that Burma appears to be switching allegiances, if they can stop causing every last one of their neighbors from running to the Americans every time China asserts its influence in the region.

I ain’t denying our very real problems. I’m just saying that America’s problems always seem to be magnified, while the rest of the world is held up as allegedly having it all together. History seems to indicate a different view.

As a thoughtful, thorough and consistent antidote to the “America’s decline is real and inevitable” claptrap, I strongly, strongly recommend regular doses of Walter Russell Mead’s blog at the American Interest. (Actually, regular doses of Mead’s blog are good preventive medicine for a host of ideological ailments.)

P.S. I’m sure that America’s been “in decline” since before the 1970s; that’s just as far back as Darth Hippie can personally remember the public lamentations.

Darth Hippie on May 2, 2012 at 1:18 PM

I’m sure it doesn’t have anything to do with the fact that they are incapable of actually contributing anything positive to society so instead they make careers of whining and agitating. There is no greater joy or reward than selflessly working hard only for the greater good of the collective. Workers united and cooperating to achieve the objectives of the current Five Year Plan inspire everyone to more enthusiastically contribute all they can to build a truly just society in which there is “social justice” for everyone.

Isn’t that better than working for profit or to buy more things you don’t really need?

Let’s not forget this description of the Ayres’ lair:

http://www.weeklystandard.com/articles/dinner-party_626646.html?google_editors_picks=true

Tucker had invited several guests— me, his brother, Daily Caller reporter Jamie Weinstein, a contest winner, and provocateur Andrew Breitbart, aka the most aggressive man on the Internet. (Breitbart once asked me to teach him to fish as a much-needed de-stresser, then thought better of it, “since every time I see a tree, I just want to kick its ass.”) Our Weatherpatrons greet us like old family, surrounded by their own smiling friends/decoys, who are there to “wait on” us and otherwise deflect uncomfortable lines of inquiry. Pointing to bottles of wine, one chirps, “What’s your poison?”

Ayers, in skullcap and earrings, shows us to an elaborate spread overlooking the city. We’ve entered a parody of a multimillion-dollar liberal lair. Unidentifiable abstract sculptures snake about the floor. Framed epigrams from Louise Bourgeois installations (“The Hour Is Devoted To Revenge”) line the wall. Cutouts representing the duality of the American spirit, from Thoreau and Rosa Parks (good), to Dick Cheney and Sarah Palin (evil), festoon our plates. Tofu and quinoa—pinko food—is among the seven savory courses served.

Seems like this country has been pretty good to them.

Darth Hippie on May 2, 2012 at 1:18 PM

The long overdue decline really started in October, 1929. There have been setbacks, periods of unjust prosperity and increasing inequitable wealth distribution. But Comrade Chairman Obama has identified the 1980s as the beginning of the final futile attempt by the forces of evil to reverse the inevitable just end to a failed system that has been given enough chances to succeed, a system that we have tried enough times. That end will allow HopenChange to usher in a bold new revolutionary socially just state society.

What does this have to do with socialism?  A lot, really, because what Obama promises – especially in his second term — is a socialism of permanent elites, a kind of new, very American, version of the old Soviet-style nomenklatura. And those who are in it will get to stay in it (via government support) as social mobility, aka the American Dream, diminishes or disappears.

Bill Ayers on his blog September 10, 2008:

“The end of an empire is messy at best….

and this one is ending like all the rest.” Randy Newman

That was the day before the 7th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks, and less than 2 months before the election of Barack Hussein Obama to the Presidency.

The same Barack Hussein Obama who said that he shares his life’s journey with all who have ever sought to bring an empire to its knees…

Barack Hussein Obama on June 23, 2007:

But my journey is part of a larger journey- one shared by all who’ve ever sought to apply the values of their faith to our society. It’s a journey that takes us back to our nation’s founding, when none other than a UCC church inspired the Boston Tea Party and helped bring an Empire to its knees.

Who else wants to bring the U.S. “Empire” to its knees?
The Communist Party USA:

With Marxism-Leninism guiding our actions, the Communist Party strives to build the broadest unity against global capitalist imperialism now headed by U.S. imperialism, for immediate gains and reforms that benefit working people, and for a progressive democratization of the government, the economy, and society of our country on the road to and after winning socialism.

We’re getting pretty close to the end game here. All he’s saying is that the leftists are far enough along in the plan that it can’t be reversed. Show me where he’s wrong.

“America has consistently been a force for good in the world”

And as long as you and a majority of people in this country beleive that BS we will continue to be the most militaristic, war-mongering country in the history of mankind.

I don’t want Ayer’s idea of what this country should be either, but we’d be better off minding our own business. We could spend a lot less on the military and shrink our government at the same time.

We have more than enough capability to obliterate any country or terrorists who attack us. We don’t need to go looking for trouble, or stir it up unnecessarily.

A sermon on American decline and rapid consumerism from a man sipping Starbucks coffee. Look for yourself.

JoseQuinones on May 2, 2012 at 3:32 PM

*rabid* consumerism. Darn keyboard!

JoseQuinones on May 2, 2012 at 3:32 PM

Bill Ayers’ best days are behind him. WAY behind him.

listens2glenn on May 2, 2012 at 3:35 PM

These idiots are free to leave this great country if they don’t like it. Liberals would be much happier in Zimbabwe, North Korea or Venezuela.

search4truth on May 2, 2012 at 4:12 PM

I think whenever a headline for a video of him is posted or a sentence is written about this individual… it should be written… “Bill Ayers, unrepentant domestic terrorist, who was photographed standing on the American flag, blah blah blah…”

JellyToast on May 2, 2012 at 4:46 PM

Where’s that stray block of frozen airliner toilet blue debris falling like a meteorite and hitting a luckless radical pedestrian on a Chicago street when you really need it?

profitsbeard on May 2, 2012 at 5:45 PM

We get it, we’re a bunch of war hungry racists

This from the guy who wanted to go around with his girlfriend, blowing people up.

Freaking coward!

GarandFan on May 2, 2012 at 5:58 PM

Thats quite an outfit he wears to a propagandist speech that he is getting paid to make….. is this guy the biggest dope on the planet? Why does he have a forum? He speaks of the power of our military yet his pal O stupid is gutting it. Guess what buddy, we are not over, you and your ilk has run it`s course. You are over…… God help us, what a moron.

Squidly Diddley on May 2, 2012 at 6:01 PM

Well if America’s best days are behind us we can all thank this POS Bill Ayers and the POS ilk that follow and believe in his ideology!

I can’t understand his reasoning nor do I want to, if he hates America so much why doesn’t he just f-ing leave! Perhaps hedoesn’t leave because he knows there’s no better country on this earth to live in, yet he spits on America every chance he gets…what a dumbazz hypocrite!

HEY BILL, F-YOU, F-YOUR WIFE AND F- ALL OF THOSE THAT FOLLOW AND BELIEVE YOUR COMMUNIST TERRORIST BS…YOU F-ING AMERICA HATER!!

Liberty or Death on May 2, 2012 at 6:30 PM

Well, if the American era coming to a close, what the heck is going to replace it, Mr. Ayers, Communist China or the Islamic radicals? It is an ugly world out there. And, these United States have done a lot of good in since the end of WWII. I think that we have almost carried too much of a burden, in blood and money, in order to keep the world as free as it can be, while other nations did not do enough………………Send Mr. Ayers between North Korea and Iran for the next ten years on a speaking tour. I’d be glad to pay his one way ticket to either country.

SC.Charlie on May 2, 2012 at 8:25 PM

Other than the answer to the question, “who really wrote the books attributed to Obama?” this guy is way past his sell-by date. Just look at the goof. How embarrassing.

Mason on May 2, 2012 at 9:02 PM

Bill Ayers awfully confident that America’s best days are behind us

and the slimy communist SOB says that with a smile on his face and joy in his heart.

Pure, black, unadulterated evil. Dark, dark heart with no redeeming social value whatsoever. And yet he has a forum and is given authority to implement his evil agenda via the education system.

This man is what tar and feathers were invented for, but instead, he has a seat at an institution of higher learning propaganda.

AZfederalist on May 2, 2012 at 9:10 PM

If there’s anything passe in this country is double-earring, Mao hat wearing, wanna-be/reheated 60′s activists that never grew up and got a real job.
