Video: Bold new critic of Obama’s class warfare nonsense keeps up the pressure

posted at 9:20 pm on May 1, 2012 by Allahpundit

Via Newsbusters. The bad news? He’s still identifying as a Democrat. I know “the transition” takes time, but there was an outside chance that the burst of positive feedback he got from righties after his rant with Kevin Smith went viral might speed things up. No dice. The good news? There was also a burst of lefty kvetching afterward and he seems to have weathered the storm just fine. Actual quote from his Twitter account: “Last I checked, he’s President, not King!” The man’s obviously a wingnut.

Nine minutes here but the part about Obama is split into two sections, the first starting at the beginning of the clip and the second starting at around 6:00. Exit question: Jon Lovitz, voice of a generation?

…He’s still identifying as a Democrat. I know “the transition” takes time…

I don’t mind if he stays a democrat. I mind all the socialists calling themselves democrats.

Just because he is a Democrat does not make him a communist. Hopefully the Democrats awake that Democrat used to not mean communist but is fast merging.

Jon Lovitz, voice of a generation?

Voice of most Americans.

Thing is, his position didn’t used to be a Republican thing. It used to be part of Americana. Part of the American dream.

You’re witnessing what happens when Democrats still part of the Old Democratic Party come face-to-face with modern progressives.

Most Independents and Democrats don’t buy the class warfare thing. Even when they entertain it for partisan reasons, they don’t believe it.

amerpundit on May 1, 2012 at 9:32 PM

I have no problem with him being or remaining a Democrat. Hell I don’t really mind sane Democrats, they can be persuaded to do the right thing at least some of the time, unlike the rabid marxist fricksticks that CLAIM to be Democrats.

Don’t fall for the trap of falling in love with token whatever’s that display occasional sanity.

Quite frankly anyone who voted for Obama once is an idiot. An idiot with a momentary glimpse of the sun is refreshing, and it should be encouraged, but until he plays an unflattering Justice Kagan on SNL, he is still not so awesome.

“He’s creating class warfare in a country with no class structure.”

Lovitz hasn’t been keeping up with contemporary American neo-Marxist thinking.

He also seems unfamiliar with American socialist thinking stemming back to at least the 1920s.

But I suppose he can be forgiven. He didn’t spend twenty years listening to and internalizing the lectures of Reverend Wright and Bill Ayers.

John the Libertarian on May 1, 2012 at 9:23 PM

I doubt Obama ever really HAD the center-left to begin with. The socialist wing took over the Democrat Party long ago. People like Ed Koch, Scoop Jackson and Zell Miller hold zero influence in the party.

Outside of the socialists, radicals, and so-called “educated” college students, Obama got elected with the help of people mainly disenchanted with Bush’s second term and were not convinced by McCain’s horrible campaign. (Regardless of our thoughts of Mitt, those two factors in 2008 are non-existent this go around.) The center-left were never a true factor in the race at all.

When Obama started to relentlessly sell an unpopular bill in Obamacare, that’s when he started to hemorrhage support from everyone major group outside of his radical base.

nicktjacob on May 1, 2012 at 10:36 PM

I second what Tim Zank said. I really won’t lose sleep over the fact that he’s a Democrat. I’m a right wing extremist and “enemy of the state” by most DHS measures, but at the end of the day, if we’re eventually to put this socialist/communist/progressive (WHATEVER they are all a BIG fail) movement in the crapper where it belongs, we really need sensible pro-success, pro-Israel, common sense Democrats to re-emerge and take control of that party. As much I would like to have a down-the-line constitutional conservative/libertarian government (time warp back to Jefferson’s administration), we have a purple nation at this point, and we can begin to put our nation on a viable track. As much as I would like 25 each of Jim Demint, Rand Paul, Ron Johnson, and Mike Lee in the Senate it ain’t gonna happen! The political center in our country has taken a real beating lately, but guys like Lovitz could bring the re-emergence of the center left. While we don’t agree on everything, at least we agree Guam isn’t floating:)

bazil9 on May 1, 2012 at 10:22 PM

In the goosestepping environment that is Hollywood, any political dissent is verboten. That’s what makes Lovitz’s screed so notable. He’s actually off the reservation in a really big way.

You also have to consider that Jon could have been bullied into staying silent for several years now, and his feelings about Obama possibly dated back to the 2008 campaign. But, hey, you can’t afford to lose a major movie role or face any “unofficial” blacklisting now, can you?

It took Reagan close to two decades to complete the changeover. Including his tenure as president of the Screen Actors’ Guild.

Myron Falwell on May 1, 2012 at 10:46 PM

In WWII the righteous did not do anything really righteous they just did not go over the cliff to crazy town like everyone else. Jon Lovits is but one of the first of the new generation of righteous. When some on the left are bath water drinkers and will be willing to put other people in train cars because they are the problem. With some willing to say no as that is not right. He will still not agree with one word of what the right says but the left has just gone to far to be with them.

Old and Busted: Reagan Democrats
only because they did not like Carter not that they really went right
New Hotness: Romney Democrats
only because they do not like Obama not that they really went right

With this much class warfare out there, instead of red America and Blue America it will be black and blue America this time around. The people who just want to make things work and work together will get fed up with it by and by. They may not vote for the Republican but they may get disgusted, tune out and stay home. Given the intensity gap, that will work for the GOP.

KW64 on May 1, 2012 at 11:26 PM

That’s it! A country with no class structure!

Those that aren’t rich by and large understand that to knock the producers is going to knock the whole economy, so they will be hit in their own pocketbooks.

But even more important, most of the unrich have dreams of they themselves hitting it big. They understand that they themselves will then be the target. No punitive 70% tax rates! And end the regulation morass that will make it harder for they themselves to rise to great affluence. And perhaps Occupier style envy and rage will make their own future success a target. No thanks the unrich say. O is barking up the wrong tree.

anotherJoe on May 1, 2012 at 11:48 PM

SC.Charlie on May 2, 2012 at 5:29 AM

Notice how HLN spins the video caption.

“Lovitz defends Obama remarks.”
Compare that to “Lovitz defends remarks on Obama”.

The typical dimwit Liberal taking a cursory glance at such captions will see it as HLN would want them to see it… dishonestly suggesting Obama was being endorsed rather than criticized.

I am inclined to show him some compassion here.. cut the man some slack, he’s waking up to reality,.. and a great many never do, just not perceptive enough…

I don’t want to do anything to discourage more of him from stepping forward and speaking out.. They are going to catch seven kinds of living ever loving Hell from the left as it is.. so let’s not pile on.. If he knows we’ll let by gones be by gones, we get an ally. Just thrashing him like the left wins us nothing.. and might succeed in shutting him up again.

Don’t want to see that happen.

locomotivebreath1901 on May 2, 2012 at 10:43 AM

It all started cause he said he has to pay 50% in taxes.
Which is complete b.s.
So, if he wants to share what he really pays – and take issue with that, fine.
But as is so pathetically often and predictably the case, anti-tax rants get made from a false premise.
(Romney got a lot less robust on the issue once the truth came out on his taxes.)
Maybe it’s all part of his ‘Pathological Liar’ skit.

Exactly.
And besides which, Lovitz HAS it. He stated about bringing yourself up out of nothing, and working hard to become a success. THAT is what America is all about. I am glad at least one democrat at least understands that.
