I think it’s in poor taste to make a joke about the people who are tasked with protecting your life no matter the cost (including trading their own lives).

Not because that will change their willingness to protect you. They’ll still do their jobs.

It just seems like a professional courtesy that anyone receiving protection from the Secret Service should not make jokes at their expense.

If the Secret Service’s supervisors couldn’t prevent this scandal, dorm mothers aren’t going to cut it, either.

Yes, I agree. The entire idea is stupid. This is what they pay supervisors to do.

No, you are incorrect. They are on duty 100% of the time while on mission. This and the reasons for it have been pointed out ad nauseum.

In my mind, it starts with all of the agents (advance or protection team) maintaing their own perimiter first. Choosing to party rendered the team unable to maintain the bubble around themselves (meaning no strangers, period). This terrible lack of judgment can clearly next lead to a breach of the bubble around the POTUS and team or family.

Nuns, how about a group of Jewish mothers.

If the people charged with protecting the president and other high-ranking personnel need to be chaperoned, I think there might be a bigger problem here.

Good grief, the disconnect here is beyond comprehension…people assigned to protect the most powerful person in the world, are not capable of behaving like normal adults, they need to have a chaperone, like high school kids.
Has anyone thought of maybe, just maybe, putting better management (besides the election this Nov)? This isn’t a “Secret Service” it’s a frat party.

Obama and his wife detest the Secret Service, or at a minimum have little regard for the agents. So, why should they, the agents, have any respect for these two taxpayer-money gluttons, who jet set their asses around the world week in and week out while treating these agents as porch slaves.

It doesn’t matter how the agents get treated or who holds the office. We can’t have them picking and choosing which president they will do a good job for based on their own personal feelings. These agents need to be able to rise above that and respect the fact that they work for the office of the POTUS…no matter what kind of shlep occupies it.

Yes, some of the agents went awry on these trips, but who the hell can blame them? They work for a celebrity, not a President, and his wife, the very definition of a shrew. If you act like a coked-up rock star, then how would you expect your security detail to act?

Here’s an idea, send the Secret Service agents’ wives and/or girlfriends along. Be a heck of a lot more effective than chaperones. Chaperones can be coerced, wives and girlfriends? Not so much.

We are in complete agreement except that the guy who wanted a lower rate should have been fired. There is a cultural problem that needs to be addressed.

I said that all of them deserved what they got and I believe he has been fired. I know that he has put his house up for sale and is no longer with the SS. My only point is that I wish more government employees would haggle over prices. If they did, we might not have a $15.5 trillion national debt.

Pretty bad when grown men and women (mainly men) can’t get their s*** together. If they are this irresponsible then maybe they need a job at McDonalds and need to be barred from from any law enforcement or protection jobs.

I was being facetious. I am appalled at the behaviour of the SS, but I find it ironic that the one guy in the government, who actually tried to negotiate for a lower price, got fired. Meanwhile, we are still paying for $16 muffins, the GSA notwithstanding.
