Last Chiquita is looking for a mate and she checks out all the alien dudes and suddenly the old fart is looking pretty good!!!

Cane_loader, if you ended up as one of the last humans alive, the other would be Nancy Pelosi. Be careful what you fantasize for. An example of what can go wrong is Time Enough at Last.

But I really do think we all had better start engaging our black friends early, even if we know they will robotically vote 0bama, so that in the fury that will follow his defeat (or victory), they will know that we are sincere, and disagree on policy – not race. If enough of this is done by all of us, maybe some voices in the black community will help calm things a bit, and also preserve friendships.

Black friends and young people who are OWS sympathizer-types. I have a number of cousins, nieces and nephews who are quite emotionally young and reactive.

Just saw your note,.. that was very kind of you.. I know that we’ve all been pushing our positions pretty hard.. happens when you believe passionately..

I try to keep in mind, whatever our differences, we still agree much more more than we disagree. No one here is my enemy..

A true believer, yes, I don’t deny it.. and you rarely post anything that I find much issue with,.. certainly never anything I don’t respect.

Maybe that’s the key.. so many here have found a way to agree or disagree without getting outraged or angry about it.. I hope to be able to do that too..

LOL. If you go back and look at the national polling, and the polling that was done right here at Hot Air, I think a lot of conservatives took that route. Romney never led a single poll at Hot Air until recently. But yet, you’ve got some people saying stuff like, “everything was fine until all you ROMNEY people showed up!”

Texas Republican committeeman Bill Crocker says the tea party has joined forces with the party in his state, but that the newbies are still figuring out how the game is really played.

Yes, the “newbies” haven’t figured out that the point is to be corrupt and elitist and to use the position to enrich yourself and your friends. How silly and naive for them to believe that it’s about serving thier state and country.

I still think you gotta talk tho them quietly and sincerely, and really drive home that you have policy differences, and not racial ones, and that if you agreed with his policies you’d vote for him in a heartbeat.

Person to person, this conversation has to happen, to help keep the peace.

November to January will be a truly frightening time in the USA if 0bama loses – akin to watching Saddam fire Scud missiles at Tel Aviv and wondering if WWIII is about to break out.

We agree,.. a lot of us are coalescing around Romney now, from every corner of the party. All have made a pragmatic decision..

Only the Paulites and a handfull of others are sitting there in denial.. if they want to kid themselves, fine.. but to screech at the entire rest of the GOP as “enablers”… well that’ll make em want to join you, just insult everybody..

Conservatives broke ranks with Bush and his father over spending.. it’s not like this is our first rodeo. Then you get kids joining Paul who act as if no body ever opposed spending before THEY got to the scene..

Sorry,.. I was with Reagan in 80,.. and spending was a huge issue then too. The problem was getting past a democrat house which never allowed a GOP budget to survive.

We’ve never had a perfect storm on our side to get control, to give us the chance to cut vast tracks of spending..

If we can get Romney across the line, with the Senate.. finally, we have a chance.. I’d much rather work with Romney and the Tea Party, the House and Senate GOP all together,.. than stay home this year.. Romney isn’t perfect, but this is a chance to make history, rather than just watch it flow by.

We’ll have to keep Romney’s feet to the fire,.. but I like our chances to modify his behavior a lot more than anything from Obama.. we know he’ll grant us nothing.

I know it’s a little-in-your-face, but then, we have to vote for them, I quess, so it doesn’t really matter.

What I keep seeing on Hot Air is a continuing battle between those who have decided to support Romney, and those Ron Paul supporters and others who say they will stay home or (God forgive) vote Obama rather than support Romney.

I’ll just say that Romney was never my first choice. I was originally a Palinista and was ready to go all-in for Sarah. When she decided not to run, I jumped on the Perry Ferry. When it sunk, I got on board the Cain Train. When it was derailed, I hopped on the Newt Caboose, and eventually wound up at Santorum’s Forum. Now – finally – I’ve decided to become a Romulan.

Am I 100% happy with Mitt Romney? Of course not. But let’s be practical – he’s NOTHING like Obama. Our best shot is to keep electing more Constitutional Conservatives to Congress, hold the House, take the Senate – and then we will be in a position to hold Romney’s feet to the fire. As far as I’m concerned, staying home or voting Obama will contribute to the end of this Republic.

I took the same scenic tour of candidates, except Perry. We’ve got what we’ve got, and the thought of replacing 0bama with Romney is starting to make me enthusiastic, when I consider the alternative.

What are we going to say to our black friends if 0bama wins?

I have one – an elderly Vietnam vet with the 0bama/Biden ’08 sticker on his truck, whom I have been trying to prepare for awhile for the possibility that 0bama gets thown out. I’ve been trying to impress upon his my policy differences, in hopes that our friendship is not damaged. I have also been trying to explain the economic disaster we face if 0bama wins.

I hope and think he has been half listening, as he is a quiet, low-key guy.
