Romney: The media “vast left-wing conspiracy” will attack me at every turn

posted at 1:21 pm on April 18, 2012 by Tina Korbe

In an interview with Breitbart.com’s Larry O’Connor, presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney adopted a proven strategy to appeal to a conservative audience: He attacked the mainstream media.

It didn’t sound like a gimmick, though. It sounded as though a single week with the media in general election mode has sobered Mitt Romney into the recognition that the MSM really will do what it can to forward Barack Obama’s reelection effort and thwart Romney’s effort to unseat him.

It wasn’t so long ago that Mitt Romney was implying it is somehow intellectually lazy to attack the MSM — but this is what he had to say in the interview with O’Connor:

“There will be an effort by the quote vast left-wing conspiracy to work together to put out their message and to attack me,” Romney said in an interview with Breitbart.com. “They’re going to do everything they can to divert from the issue people care about, which is a growing economy that creates more jobs and rising incomes. That’s what people care about.” …

“If people are bending or breaking the law then we’re going to have to focus on that and do something about that,” Romney responded. “I don’t know how much is related to that, or how much is just that many in the media are inclined to do the president’s bidding, and I know that’s an uphill battle we fight generally.”

If the recent uproar over whether Romney or Obama treats dogs better is any indication, Romney is absolutely right. No issue will be dismissed as too small to serve as a worthy distraction — and, while I stand by what I wrote yesterday, which is that even the distractions teach us something about the candidates and ourselves, I also think Romney is right to remain focused on the economy. It’s largely why Republicans ultimately nominated him and also the issue most likely to sway independents.

LOL. Yes the media is liberal and socialist and Marxist. That’s why the media has a collective orgasm each time the Dow goes 300 up and panics when it drops 500. It’s because they hate capitalism and America and stuff.

And I tell you, I try like crazy to find a conservative voice on the radio and it’s simply impossible. Nothing but fire breathing communists like Beck and Hannity and Limbaugh.

And I go to buy a newspaper, nothing but anti-capitalism junk out there like the WSJ and IBD.

By the way, is anyone else noticing how it’s become more and more obvious that “angryed” really is a liberal moby, just as people have been saying he was for years?

Well, at least he’s a quicker learner than McCain, who still doesn’t seem to have quite figured it out. Baby steps.

And everyone thought an extended primary was a bad thing. Does anyone *really* believe that Romney would have come to this conclusion this early, if at all, without it?

Also I personally do NOT care whether Romney or ANY other candidate served in the military. People can serve their country in multiple ways. As one currently serving in AFG, Ed you do not realize how much we do away from the shores of America to protect your right to say the tripe that you do.

We also do not think we are superior to ANY other American as you implied or stated earlier. We are just happy to serve a country we love.

Also I personally do NOT care whether Romney or ANY other candidate served in the military. People can serve their country in multiple ways. Romney also signed up for the Draft and by the time his number was chosen the war was winding down and his number was too high for what the board was seeking.

Thank you.

Also, Edster, many folks do not realize that many of the cool gadgets that are in the market today are generally tried out in the military first before they go public. So we are kind of a first testing ground for every day products.

Bmore on April 18, 2012 at 3:03 PM

Democrats don’t cheerlead for the military like you do.

It’s hypocritical for you to give saint status to anyone who “served their country” yet you nominate a man who didn’t and had 5 sons who didn’t.

You really can’t see that?

angryed on April 18, 2012 at 2:26 PM

Alright. What’s your plan? If Romney is the nominee, who should we vote for? If Obama wins what should we do – what’s the plan to deal with Obama?

I’m serious. If you want any shred of credibility and become no more than L4L and eventually get banned for trolling, speak up.

With every post you seem to be losing more and more of your mind. Convince us that your way is the better way. Outline the plan of how not voting for the R (Romney) is going to get us ahead in the short and long term.

I’m taking the premise that you’d vote for anyone NOT Romney, whoever that may be. I’d also like to know who is left (or viable) that you think should be the nominee.

Dude give it a rest. I’m so sick of this nonsense. It’s a career choice for you, no different than being an accountant. Stop with this silliness about protecting my rights or freedoms or way of life. Nobody in Afghanistan gives a crap about my way of life. And you being there blowing up their country doesn’t protect anything.

Now I understand you’re just following orders so I’m not blaming you for the stupidity of American foreign policy. Sorry if I offended.

We need an angryed thread so we can sort all of this out.

Then afterwards, an ice cream social!

Generally, it is people like mark81150, warplanner, hawkdriver, etc that ONLY get what war experience is like because it TRULY is a “Band of Brothers” that you cannot explain in words what it is like to deploy to especially people like angryed. We do it because there is an overwhelming and consuming love for our country. We do not begrudge ANY that do not serve in the military and this is what Ed you do not understand. WE DO IT BECAUSE WE CHOOSE TO SERVE.

g2825m on April 18, 2012 at 3:05 PM

I’m consistent. I don’t like the military whether it’s run by a D or an R. If it were up to me 90% of the money spent on the military would be cut tomorrow.

I am not even going to attempt to explain to you the BENEFIT the military is to the country and PROTECTING YOUR RIGHTS if you do not see it.

Again, we do not think about YOU personally, we think of OUR country as a whole so you can be at home blogging here on this post.

Since you believe we are “just blowing this country” up then I will let you believe that MSM crap and not point out the great progress we have made since 2001 that Afghans and Iraqis have told me PERSONALLY.
