As an example, I put in info for a typical family of 4 with a gross income of $65,000. The website says that I pay 15.1% in income taxes.
Then I went ot the IRS website and calculated my taxes. I would have the standard deduction of $11,600 and the 4 exemptions for $14,800, which leaves a taxable income of $38,600. From the tax tables the actual tax is $4,936 or 7.5%.

So the Obama website doubles the actual tax rate.

Oh… he meant the imaginary Reagan in his head… not the one who was President? Yeah, that’s not a surprise is it?

What am I missing?

The point isn’t that liberals were wrong to oppose every Reagan policy. But what they seem to ignore is that those policies were the products of a political philosophy. Sure, he made pragmatic compromises, but he started from a philosophical position that the self-anointed smart set considered not just wrong, but evil or stupid or both. The Media Research Center has issued a lengthy report chronicling countless journalistic examples, but my favorite is probably comes from Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in London, which in 1982 held a vote for the most hated people of all time. The winners: Adolf Hitler, Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan and Dracula.

To the tune of the Four Seasons’ “Bye Bye, Baby”, on election day let’s all sing “Bye Bye, Barry, Barry Goodbyeee”.

Just tell everyone that what he meant by this is that we should have a flatter tax system with lower overall rates. That’s what Reagan was saying, and obama referenced that very speech.

Sure, we’d be lying about what obama actually meant, but he kinda started that as well now didn’t he.

So now we can claim that obama is for lower taxes. Hell, let’s just go all in and say he’s for lower taxes on millionaires and billionaires!!!

See how much his base loves that.

Where “think” = “doublethink”.

What a completely unsane jackass Obama is!

If anything it is Lenin’s Rule – the first step towards outright confiscation and the gulag!

Thanks again for the info and your service. Have many cousins who served in VN at least one doing SAR. I’ve appreciated learning of the techniques of how to get overloaded Hueys into the air to maximize evac capacity when necessary and of the sacrifice and the many other things for which I know to be grateful.

More recently, we went to check on a relative’s home shortly after Katrina and were thankful to see a Jolly Green Giant stop by overhead checking to be sure we were friendlies. I made sure my salute was clearly visible.

His audiences can hear it without laughing, because he targets audiences who are the most clueless among us. They don’t think critically, they aren’t objective, so they just go along with whatever they’re told. The key for him is to not let on that he has more contempt for them that he does for even the “one percent.” They are truly useful idiots, and whenever he happens to push them aside, they’ll still never figure it out. Case it point: the women who are getting shortchanged on his administration’s payroll.

Alright fellow GI. If you made it to Apaches you must have made the Army a career. I remember Ft. Rucker. One of our pilots in VN was given orders back to Rucker after his combat tour and started crying, “what did I do wrong?”

Yeah, 24 years went by fast. Rucker is not that bad :-).

I explained to her that one percent of the population pay 25% of the taxes and she responded that “They still have too much money” and she thought they needed to be redistributed.

I asked her what would happen when we redistributed that money? Then what? Are the rich really to blame for the crap we are in? She actually agreed that the government was spending too much and that was a big portion of the problem BUT she STILL thought that the rich were too rich. I asked her what would taxing the rich do? How would giving MORE money to the government help if the government isn’t spending it right anyways? She said she didn’t know but she didn’t like the idea of giving the wealthy tax breaks so they could reinvest to provide more jobs because she said “Well not all of them will reinvest, some of them will just keep it for themselves. Besides even if they DO invest their money it won’t be for others but just so they can get richer.” I then replied “So? Who cares if they are spending money to make more for themselves if they are creating jobs so that OTHER people can make money for themselves! Are you saying we should punish people for doing well?”

She didn’t know what to say to that so she responded with this argument. “Well I think some rich people are just A–holes and they shouldn’t have that much money.” And then cited the infamous story of the Banker who tipped $1.33, of course I had to crush that story because we all know it was fake

I told her that there are going to be a–holes in every group, rich, poor, black, white, young and old not matter where you look so should we tax all of them because of it too?

After that she shut up and decided to switch the subject to puppies.
