Important: Dems mad at RNC chief for comparing women to caterpillars or something

posted at 5:50 pm on April 5, 2012 by Allahpundit

How pathetic is this? Pathetic enough that even TNR can only shake its head sadly at the lameness of the contrived involved outrage.

Alternate headline: “Blogger shifts from beer to hard liquor to cope.”

HUNT: Let me ask you this. The Democrats of course say you are waging, the GOP is waging a war on women. I know you don’t agree with that, but looking at the polls, you have a gender gap problem. Recent polls show a huge, huge margin for Democrats among women voters. How big a problem is it? How do you close it?

PRIEBUS: Well, for one thing, if the Democrats said we had a war on caterpillars, and mainstream media outlet talked about the fact that Republicans have a war on caterpillars, then we have problems with caterpillars. The fact of the matter is it’s a fiction and this started a war against the Vatican that this president pursued. He still hasn’t answered Archbishop Dolan’s issues with Obama world and Obamacare, so I think that’s the first issue.

I’m tempted to explain what he meant but literally everyone already understands that, including the people claiming to be offended by it. So let’s skip it. Instead, take two minutes to read the outrageously outraged quotes that Politico compiled. These aren’t Democratic Underground commenters we’re talking about; this is the president of EMILY’s List, Obama’s deputy campaign manager, and our friends at the DNC, all pretending to froth at the mouth in hopes of pushing the Democrats’ “war on women” message another inch towards the November goal line. Over at the “DNC Women” Twitter account, they’re actually using the hashtag “#WomenArentInsects, @Reince”. Good point, DNC Women. A very good point indeed.

Exit question: Second look at that Bill Maher op-ed?

This is the stench of desperation, folks. Take a deep whiff and realize that this is the best they have.

Well, this is an outrage.

If we’re to assume that liberal4life is representative of women, then caterpillars are much more intelligent.

“#WomenArentInsects, @Reince”. Good point, DNC Women. A very good point indeed.

Insects leave you alone once they’ve sucked all your blood out?

*ducks*

lorien1973 on April 5, 2012 at 5:54 PM

To be fair, the Politico piece does call this “a race to the out-of-context bottom.” Well, dems, you win. You’re there. Rock-freakin’-bottom. Now where do the women of this country go to get their reputations back?

It’s all about wedging white, suburban, women for 2012.

aquaviva on April 5, 2012 at 5:57 PM

Women are not caterpillars. They are beautiful butterflies floating effortlessly in the noon day sun totally naked.

SparkPlug on April 5, 2012 at 5:57 PM

Don’t caterpillars turn into beautiful butterfiles?

What could be offensive about that?

Bitter Clinger on April 5, 2012 at 5:57 PM

First clowns, now caterpillars. Run for the hills.

When you’re crying “insect” at a harmless use of figurative language, you’re really just crying wolf.

i’m actually agreeing with TNR, whoda thunk it…

cmsinaz on April 5, 2012 at 5:59 PM

IMO, nothing is more disrespectful to women than portraying them as helpless victims that can’t aquire their own birth control or find a partner willing to help them do so.

Sandra Fluke is an absolute anti-feminist for making women appear so helpless.

How do women expect to get equal pay in the workforce if they shown they can’t locate a PP clinic or save up $11 and go to Target?

Democrats are portraying women as nothing more than the sum of our reproductive parts. If they were from another country (or if it were Republicans doing this), women would be outraged. Instead many are nodding their heads in unison.

Why are so many women willingly participating in the dumbing down of their own gender.

Reince Priebus is the least of women’s worries.

earlgrey133 on April 5, 2012 at 6:00 PM

I’m tempted to explain what he meant

lol

Axe on April 5, 2012 at 6:00 PM

I don’t think the outrage is justified. The Republican mentality regarding women is very well known and established fact:

Bill O’Reilly: But do you understand what the New York Times wants, and the far-left want? They want to break down the white, Christian, male power structure, which you’re a part, and so am I, and they want to bring in millions of foreign nationals to basically break down the structure that we have. In that regard, Pat Buchanan is right. So I say you’ve got to cap with a number.

In order to avoid being a subhuman, you have to meet their criteria: Be white, be Christian and definitely not a woman.

Stop the Republican Social Darwinists! Don’t Let Paul Ryan from Killing Granny! We Don’t Need No Stinkin’ Budget! More Free Stuff for Everyone! Gimme more, gimmee more, gimmee more, more, more!…

A rational adult’s priority list…

Persistent high unemployment, an anemic national economy, promoting private sector economic growth, trillion dollar deficits, burdening our children and grandchildren with unprecedented massive federal debt, the looming spectre of economic collapse, Islamist crazies with nukes…

Just how stupid do Obama and his gang think the electorate is?

That’s exactly what Priebus said. He said women are exactly like caterpillars. Fuzzy, wuzzy caterpillars with gajillions of creepy legs and deely boppers on their heads, feasting on cabbage leaves and milkweeds waiting for their welfare checks, free college and free birth control pills just like women. /

This is getting silly.

KOOLAID2 on April 5, 2012 at 6:33 PM

My hope is that Democrats have finally pushed this pathetically stupid meme too far and that those who have actually been fooled by this will wake up and see they’ve been had. Hopefully Obama and his surrogates will finally see some backlash at how shamelessly they’ve lied to people over this. Maybe people will start asking some pertinent questions. For instance, why is it so important that women’s health services be dispensed through Planned Parenthood and not through alternatives? Or is getting that last 1% (and that’s being generous) who don’t have access to contraception access to it is really worth watching a large number of our nation’s hospitals shut down because the owners can’t operate them without violating their religious beliefs?

PerceptorII on April 5, 2012 at 6:36 PM

Foaming-at-the-mouth hysteria by the lunatic-left d-cRAT socialists is something they do endlessly. Rational people must learn to ignore it, like they ignore temper tantrums of infants (a perfect analogy).

I severely doubt O’Reilly or McCain consider white Christian males to be some sort of superior class. White Christian males have been accused of locking out minorities, wymyn, and non-Christians by the mere act of existing, so the oikophobes decide that anything involving white people, Christianity, or maleness must obviously be Bad, and must be countered at every turn. Usually by employing the trope of “countering the white Christian hegemony” or some other rot.

From The Obama Timeline:

“Priebus was, of course, merely exaggerating to make a point about Obama’s demand for free contraceptives. The typical Democrat method for expanding the scope of government is to propose or pass legislation that provides a benefit for some people at the expense of others, and then label as mean-spirited anyone who opposes the legislation. Obama would have no qualms supporting legislation that provides dog owners with free heartworm medication and then damning Republicans as ‘anti-dog’ for daring to oppose it.”

Does that mean Debbie Weisenheimer Schultz is a dog? We report; you decide…
