Matt Lauer to Palin: Are you reading any newspapers to prepare for tomorrow?

posted at 8:49 pm on April 2, 2012 by Allahpundit

A video hors d’oeuvre to whet your appetite for breakfast tomorrow. Seriously, whether you love Palin or hate her, why on earth would anyone watch you-know-who over at GMA instead of this? If you’re some kind of hardcore Katie fan who simply can’t digest morning yakfests unless they’re extra extra perky, good news — she’ll be there all week. Besides, what’s the hook except that it’s Couric doing the usual news and interviews instead of Robin Roberts? (Some GMA staffers aren’t happy about that substitution.) With Palin on “Today,” anything can happen. She could be great! Or some liberal guest could get snotty with her, leading to an angry exchange! Or there could be lots of awkward silences between her, Lauer, and company as they try to ignore their mutual hostility! Or something else could happen! You never know, whereas you know exactly how it’s going to go over on ABC.

Two clips for you here, one of her chatting with Lauer et al. and the other via Mediaite of McCain reacting. Based on how pleasant and chummy this segment was, they might as well offer her a contract. Good lord.

Breitbart said that we needed to get the instruments of culture. Maybe she will simply do a great hosting job in hopes of getting a gig on the MDM and influence audiences down the line, instead of trying to do something dramatic tomorrow. BTW, only Nielsen ratings TV sets will count. Instead, we should watch it on the internet, where they can count the number of hits.

arnold ziffel on April 2, 2012 at 9:41 PM

Here’s the thing. Many mistakenly think Obama will just roll over. Sure, he sucks, and by all rights people should at this very moment be calling for him to just go away.

But… that’s not happening. Obama has an entire media supporting him and, well Republicans are the traditional cultural bad guys. Its really not enough to not be Obama. Obama runs the narrative.

Romney and his supporters should not be stomping on those they will later need to drag Milquetoast over the finish line. I’ve seen that movie, it ends badly for “our side” such as it is.

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/worlds-largest-solar-plant-21-billion-energy-department-loan-guarantee-files-bankruptcy

Solyndra was just the appetizer. Earlier today, in what will come as a surprise only to members of the administration, the company which proudly held the rights to the world’s largest solar power project, the hilariously named Solar Trust of America (“STA”), filed for bankruptcy.

that last April STA was the proud recipient of a $2.1 billion conditional loan from the Department of Energy, incidentally the second largest loan ever handed out by the DOE’s Stephen Chu. That amount was supposed to fund the expansion of the company’s 1000 MW Blythe Solar Power Project in Riverside, California. From the funding press release, “This project construction is expected to create over 1,000 direct jobs in Southern California, 7,500 indirect jobs in related industries throughout the United States, and more than 200 long-term operational jobs at the facility itself. It will play a key role in stimulating the American economy,”

And that is how in crony America taxpayer money goes from one insolvent pocket, to another, to Wall Street, all under the guise of idealistic pursuits and clean energy.

They probably had to rehearse their laughs for this promo

The inbreds have become so bad on tv, it would be better if they had a lottery to replace the current crowd. I can watch programs about hoarders and have some empathy for the mentally disabled hoarder clutching to his rat infested hole, but what is the excuse for morning shows?

Sonosam on April 3, 2012 at 12:21 AM

Interesting to me is that her skill set which got her where she is now is being a chief executive

She’s a journalism major in college so this fits.

In fact, it fits a LOT of things. I think the media is sensing the shirt in the US (and actually, globally) away from the progressive meme. They are private networks. They realize that being too liberal during a period when Democrats are in decline in most states might not be a good business decision. When they see polling numbers that say most Americans consider themselves right of center, THAT is where their potential audience is.

States are shedding Democrats from legislatures and Governors. Republicans are taking seats in places like New York and Massachusetts that the Democrats had held for years. I think NBC is seeing the writing on the wall and might be interested in putting some balance in their content to attract eyeballs from the other half of the population.

Right now the alphabet network news programs get some percentage of the liberal population and practically no Republican viewers. Their eyeball counts are down. There is 1/2 of the population that they have ignored. I think they are starting to pay attention.

Hmm, let me do the math here….

Romney will make Obama a one term president…Bush had to terms…Bush, most unpopular president.

It does not compute.

Cleombrotus on April 3, 2012 at 8:18 AM

to = two (but you knew that)

Cleombrotus on April 3, 2012 at 8:19 AM

Mornin’! :D

I am recording the show and watching with delight as Sarah throws her mini-blows every time she speaks. Rough, grit, punch-in-the-neck remark that will be made a great deal later-but you know what? She was “hired” for a day for the Today show, and they knew what they were getting-HER.

I wonder if they have the whole cast split on purpose for those that don’t feel good standing next to her. Other than that, she looks nothing short of SPECTACULAR!

ProudPalinFan on April 3, 2012 at 8:21 AM

How does anyone tell Lauer from the snotty Mittwits?

I’m thinking that praise for Romney could be an indicator after the primary. Right now, when the MSM is holding back to help Obama run against a dead fish, it is hard to tell.

Sarah’s rocking 30 Rock…:)

As a Palin admirer and supporter since before McCain chose her to inject some enthusiasm into his campaign in 2008, I am confident that she will endorse Romney and put her considerable influence to work in order to get him elected, just as soon as his nomination is settled. I voted for Mitt in Florida when Santorum wasn’t considered (by Republicans) to be a serious or viable candidate. If I had it to do again today, I’d still vote the same. I don’t dislike Santorum, but he’s the wrong guy to beat Obama and plays directly into his strengths. I disagree with Palin on this one, but that doesn’t make me admire her any less.

Can I say that he’s a bastard (Lauer?)

ProudPalinFan on April 3, 2012 at 9:03 AM

Newspapers? What am I, a dinosaur? It’s a 24 hour news cycle Matt, wake up and smell the coffee.

To be better than you doesn’t take a whole lot

NoFanofLibs on April 3, 2012 at 10:25 AM

Watching at Right Scoop. She looks great!

Just compare Palins look with the Michelle 0 fashion fiasco from the slime thread. Wow!

right….

Because Bush only had 6% unemployment, and gas prices not so high as now.. to go with Obama’s undercounted 15% national unemployment.. You have no idea,..

people around here at the END smirked about Bush after the liberal MSM preached Paul style defeatist run run away dogma without rebuttal for years..

but people around here now are friggin livid about Obama’s let them eat cake attitude while he destroys the economy as rapidly as his green whackjob pals can arrange..

There is no way Bush will be remembered anywhere nearly as negatively as Obama.

Gallop last year put Reagan as the second greatest president of the 20th century right behind JFK… FDR didn’t make the cut.. so don’t count on current prejudices to define who the worst president will be..
