Smart power: Obama using same dumb, patronizing lines with all foreign leaders

To cleanse the palate, a short but vivid look at what America’s Pericles cooks up for those special occasions when he’s welcoming world leaders to the Oval Office. He’s getting a bad rap on “one of our strongest allies” — it’s standard diplomatic boilerplate — but the backhanded compliment about “punching above their weight” is distinctly O in its well-meaning condescension. By the third iteration, I was laughing. See how long you last.

Also, I love how the American MSM missed this little gem.

Presumably the people he is talking to are representatives of the American MSM, which gives a lot of scope to ‘missed’.

I particularly like how he explains to them that such-and-such-a-place is only a “small country”.

I wonder if Barry O has any idea that the Philippines is the 12th largest country in the world with a population of nearly 100 million. To say that a country 50% larger than Britain or France but is much less powerful “punches above it’s weight” is ridiculous. But of course we can’t expect Barry to actually know what he’s talking about.

Even the Danes think this idiot is an idiot. I wonder how Victor Borge would have handled him.
