Dylan Ratigan to Martin Bashir: It’s okay to criticize Democrats sometimes, you know

posted at 7:45 pm on March 16, 2012 by Allahpundit

To cleanse the palate, a little blue-on-blue fun at MSNBC via the ‘Busters. Ratigan’s attacking from the left so this isn’t quite the heresy that the headline might imply, but don’t let that stop you from enjoying Bashir’s palpable discomfort. In fact, I recommend keeping your eyes on him as Ratigan runs through his shpiel. This is the economic equivalent of Kirsten Powers hammering Democrats for gladhanding Bill Maher while they pretend to be outrageously outraged at Limbaugh’s diatribe over Sandra Fluke. Ratigan’s in the KP role here of principled progressive and Bashir’s in the Bill Burton/David Axelrod role of partisan water-carrier. The difference is, KP doesn’t share a network with those two, which of course is what makes this fun. The best part is Bashir’s dubious “I … sort of follow you, Dylan” at the end, as if Ratigan’s said something so outlandish that it borders on incoherent. Oh well. He was on the spot. That was the best he could do.

How do you criticize someone fighting for the betterment of the little guy?

I’m not sure how you get from “liberal” to “someone fighting for the betterment of the little guy”.

Modern liberals (at least as the term is generally used in American politics) are fighting for noone but themselves.

CNN has Piers Morgan – a disgraced former editor of the Daily Mirror (UK). He was fired for knowingly fabricating a story about Iraq war atrocities that never happened. The board was fine with that until they realized the public wasn’t.

MSNBC has Bashir – another Brit. Not quite disgraced but beclowned time and time again.

5 will get you 10 that Fisk, another Brit joker, gets a gig with CBS.

These outlets can’t scrape the bottom of the barrel domestically, so they headhunt internationally.

Awesome.

Dylan” at the end, as if Ratigan’s said something so outlandish that it borders on incoherent

Dylan usually does not take sides when confronting entrenched incompetency and cronyism of Wall Street and big banks. In fact, he’s one of the few voices in media or politics with the financial literacy to help people understand why our free market economy nearly crashed several years ago and remains positioned to do so again.

The Myth of “Middle-Class” Uncle Joe

Back on Obama 2012 Fantasy Island, Biden insists on marketing himself as the humble “son of an automobile man.” Give him this: He spins like a used-car salesman. His lot’s full of lemons. And “bamboozle” is his middle name.

http://michellemalkin.com/2012/03/16/the-myth-of-middle-class-uncle-joe/

“All this nonsense for the past two weeks on me — well, it is about getting rid of me — but it’s also about firming up Obama’s base. That’s all he’s doing, ’cause he’s in trouble with his base. He’s in trouble with women. He’s in trouble everywhere. Panic has set in in the White House. Don’t doubt me on this.” – Rush

Fighting for the little guy…

Flying south to Atlanta, Obama will then hobnob with donors into the evening at three fundraisers tailored to the African-American community.

Seventy-five supporters will mingle with the president at an as yet undisclosed private Atlanta residence, where tickets were $10,000 apiece. Then he’ll join a star-studded concert featuring CeeLo Green at the Tyler Perry Studios, where at least 1,000 Obama fans are expected in the crowd, an official said. Each paid $500 or more.

Before returning to Washington, Obama will visit the home of actor and director Tyler Perry, who’s hosting the ritziest party of the night at $35,800 per head. At least 60 people are expected to attend to toast the president.

All proceeds from the six events benefit the Obama Victory Fund, a joint account that funnels cash to the Obama campaign and Democratic National Committee, the official said. The first $5,000 of an individual’s contribution goes to Obama while the remainder — up to $30,800 — goes to the DNC.

I think this was a mistake the MSM made on the vote tallying maps during the 2000 election, changing the old tradition of showing Dem states in RED to BLUE, for some odd reason, and, inexplicably, this error stuck.

And sticks.

The Repubs were always BLUE

and the DEMS (radicals) were always RED

itsnotaboutme on March 16, 2012 at 7:52 PM

As I understand it… originally which party was red and which was blue was determined by which party was in the White House; one election the President’s party would be blue, then 4 years later the President’s party was red.

This was apparently too complex a scheme for journalists or the people who think they’re credible.

If it helps, though, just think of the colors as being related to blood. Republicans are red-blooded Americans, and Democrats are blue-blooded nobility wannabes.

The entire bailout of the nation’s banking system was an exercise in crony capitalism. Yes, those interest-free loans were repaid, but what did US taxpayers receive in exchange for taking all that risk to ensure the survival of large banks and brokerages?
Nothing. Except for more payoffs to politicians that have stymied the type of real reform and transparency that Dylan is fighting for.

I’ve never made more than 31,000 a year in my life, I’m disabiled from a work injury, and I’m married with two kids under 13.

No democrat/liberal/progressive has EVER done a flippin thing that made our lives better. They have however, worked dammed hard to make things worse, and have worked endlessly to ridcule, defame and demean the working class values we live by. Liberals are self satisfied self righteous sanctimonious prigs with no ablity to comprehend, we don’t WANT the ol liberalism they are selling, and are sick to death of being the butt of liberal jokes about flyover country..

You clowns couldn’t better anyones life if you tried, and frankly, liberals don’t. Liberals exist to aquire ever more power for themselves and their crony friends..

none of the stimulus cash went to the poorist states.. just the bluest, none went to create blue collar jobs.. just public sector union ones,.. none went to put the working poor on the job, just to pad government union payrolls, which them spent millions to buy more democrats their seats..

The democrat liberal is a lie, a conjob to placate the masses, while they line their pockets by getting in bed with the same 1% they moan about… the only true working class ethic, is hard work, for fair pay.. the liberal ethic is, pisspoor work for outrageous union scale.. and raping people who make less to pay for the parasites who make more.

Screw liberals.. they exist to leach off the working class and we damn well know it.

Why do you think blue collar men always,…. always vote republican?…

Strictly a TV deal. Before 1996 the networks used to flip back and forth every four years. You can look at old CNN election maps and see what now looks like reversed colors. Around 1996 they decided to freeze the colors.

Red always seemed to be more appropriate for the democratics though. It is the color of international socialism.

Yea I know that Gleen may tell everyone that allowing the banks to fail and the economy run its won course without a stimulus would have been a brilliant course of action. But anyone with financial literacy and an understanding of economic history knows where that path has led other modern economies over the past few decades.

The banks had to be saved but should have been forced to pay up or broken up into smaller companies that were no longer too big to fail.

Nothing like a lecture from a middle-aged liberal who still files a 1040EZ.

Quit parroting Time magazine. The bailout “had” to be done in order to preserve the same corrupt abortion of a system we have now, and professional government democrat pigs benefited more than anyone. Letting these banks fail would have been the true correction this existing phony free-market system requires. The fact is you know that the government parasites would have been the ones to suffer, while the normal contributors to the GDP would have survived but with some discomfort. That is the true reason your ilk spouts this myth.

Next you will be vomiting up the claim that GM had to be bailed out, and that it was not actually a union pig payoff.

Does anyone actually watch Bashir? If it wasn’t for the Blaze, I would never even know he exists.

volsense on March 16, 2012 at 10:36 PM

Also, um (I watch almost no TV, so correct me if I’m wrong), don’t we have a talent show called America’s Got British Judges?

itsnotaboutme on March 16, 2012 at 7:57 PM

Haven’t heard of that but we have got something like “American Idol / Has Talent / Can Sing”.

Another bottom-feeder but happily at home in LA part-time.

Honestly.

When evaluating these kind of people one misses Breitbart.

Dylan Ratigan to Martin Bashir: It’s okay to criticize Democrats sometimes, you know

Yes, but criticizing Democrats all the time is much more satisfying, you know.

rukiddingme on March 17, 2012 at 12:00 AM

Seriously, how do either of these moronic dorks have jobs?

WhatSlushfund on March 17, 2012 at 12:41 AM

Without men like Dylan Ratigan and Martin Bashir, prostitutes would need to find real jobs.

Sherman1864 on March 17, 2012 at 3:09 AM

not that it matters, but it’s actually ‘spiel’, it’s a German word…

jimver on March 16, 2012 at 7:53 PM

“Shpiel” is the common Yiddish way of that word to be spelled. Yiddish and German are closely related.

How do you criticize someone fighting for the betterment of the little guy?

Like that little people lovin’ Robert Rubin – A Goldman Sachs chairman who wormed his way into the Treasury Secretary post under President Bill Clinton, Rubin presided over one of the most radical deregulatory eras in the history of finance.

Rubin’s influence within the Democratic Party marked the final stage in the Democrats’ transformation from the concerned citizens who fought Wall Street and won during the 1930s to a coalition of Republican-lite financial elites.

Rubin’s most stunning deregulatory accomplishment in office was also his greatest act of corruption. Rubin helped repeal Glass-Steagall, the Depression-era law that banned economically essential banks from gambling with taxpayer money in the securities markets.

In 1998, Citibank inked a merger with the Travelers Insurance group. The deal was illegal under Glass-Steagall, but with Rubin’s help, the law was repealed in 1999, and the Citi-Travelers merger approved, creating too-big-to-fail behemoth Citigroup.

That same year, Rubin left the government to work for Citi, where he made $120 million as the company piled up risk after crazy risk. In 2008, the company collapsed spectacularly, necessitating a $45 billion direct government bailout, and hundreds of billions more in other government guarantees.

Yeah, you progressives sure fight the good fight!

At least Kirsten Powers is pleasant to look at.

Decoski on March 17, 2012 at 11:51 AM

I always wondered whatever happened to that hapless “Baghdad Bob”

Martin Bashir

PS: Put me in an ‘Octagon’ with Radigan…I want to feed his piehole some elbows…

:)

BigSven on March 17, 2012 at 12:38 PM

Bashir’s palpable discomfort was indeed enjoyable. In the end though… I don’t believe any of the smack down made it through that Dem Party diaper he wears.
