Quotes of the day

posted at 9:30 pm on March 11, 2012 by Allahpundit

“President Obama’s re-election campaign is beginning an intensified effort this week to build support among women, using the debate over the new health care law to amplify an appeal that already appears to be benefiting from partisan clashes over birth control and abortion.

“On Monday, mailings will go out to one million women in more than a dozen battleground states in three separate versions for mothers, young women and older women, campaign and party officials said.

“An effort called ‘Nurses for Obama’ will begin on Wednesday, with nurses nationwide enlisted to be advocates for the health care law in their communities…

“Through the month, ending with what the campaign’s headquarters has designated a ‘Women’s Week of Action,’ campaign field offices will organize phone banks, campus activities, house parties and media events featuring local residents helped by the law, officials say.”

“You’ve got to hand it to Democratic strategists. Who would have thought six months ago that in the lead up to perhaps the most important presidential election of our time, the hottest political topic in the country would not be the weak economy, high unemployment, the huge national debt, record gas prices, or turmoil in the Middle East. Instead it’s Women’s Rights, or at least that’s what the Democratic party is calling it while miraculously managing to keep a straight face.

“A term that was once used in conjunction with women’s suffrage and the right to vote is suddenly synonymous in the modern day with free contraceptives at the expense of others. Gone are the likes of true icons like Susan B. Anthony. Now we have Sandra Fluke and her heroic crusade to mandate that her sexual lifestyle choices be subsidized. How proud the Democratic party must feel right now to have successfully revitalized the civil rights movement in the 21st century by equating it with luxury entitlement. The media must feel pretty good too. They’ve actually been able to substantiate this ridiculous narrative to the American public… or at least a targeted voting block within the American public.

“The Republicans’ War on Women – that’s the poll-tested talking point coming out of Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the DNC these days. Despite the absurdity and insulting nature of the claim, the mantra sure is getting a lot of attention. It’s also proving to be an effective weapon – one of several weapons from a year-long arsenal of distractions designed to keep the Republican party off step, off topic, and constantly on the defensive at a time when President Obama is wrapping up what is surely the most dismal presidential term of my lifetime.”

***

“One woman in the Iditarod crowd yelled at the senator. Another was more civil, but made the same point: Murkowski ticked off a lot of women with that vote.

“‘With her vote, Murkowski showed her true colors and put her party’s anti-female agenda ahead of the Alaska women she is supposed to represent,’ Fairbanks resident Michelle Cason wrote to the editor of the city’s Daily News-Miner.

“Before the weekend was out, Murkowski told the Anchorage Daily News that she regretted her vote.

“‘I knew going into it that there was conflict there,’ Murkowski said in a telephone interview this past week. When she got home to Alaska, she knew. ‘I think I made a mistake.’”

***

“When a Wall Street Journal-NBC News survey asked in the summer which party should control Congress, 46 percent of women favored Democrats and 42 percent preferred Republican control.

“But in a survey released Monday, compiling data since the beginning of the year, that figure had widened considerably to a 15-point advantage for the Democrats, according to polling by the team of Democratic pollster Peter Hart and Republican Bill McInturff. Fifty-one percent favored Democratic control; only 36 percent wanted to see the Republicans in charge…

“GOP pollster Kellyanne Conway, an adviser to presidential candidate Newt Gingrich’s campaign, said Republicans need to return to pocketbook and fiscal issues. ‘We know what works,’ she said, ‘and we need to get back to it.’…

“A GOP strategist, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the party’s situation frankly, said: ‘It’s devastating. I don’t think it’s going to go away. I think it’s going to be a significant challenge the Republican nominee is going to inherit.’”

***

“Now, the contraception controversy ‘has really closed the intensity gap with unmarried (Democratic-leaning) women in particular, who weren’t as likely to turn out,’ said Democratic pollster Celinda Lake. ‘Republicans have done what, honestly, we couldn’t have done better if we’d designed a strategy ourselves.’…

“Meanwhile, many conservatives have come to believe the entire controversy was ginned up by Obama.

“‘It’s straight from the Saul Alinsky radical playbook – stage a fake war on women to divert attention from devastating economic policies that are hurting men and women,’ said Jennifer Stefano, a tea party leader from Bucks County, Pa., who is now state director of Americans for Prosperity.

“‘It’s sexist to cast women as victims who need big government to be their big daddy.’”

***

“In Iowa, one of the crucial battlegrounds in the coming presidential election, and in other states, dozens of interviews in recent weeks have found that moderate Republican and independent women — one of the most important electoral swing groups — are disenchanted by the Republican focus on social issues like contraception and abortion in an election that, until recently, had been mostly dominated by the economy…

“‘Everybody is so busy telling us how we should act in the bedroom, they’re letting the country fall through the cracks,’ said Fran Kelley, a retired public school worker in Seattle who voted for Senator John McCain over Mr. Obama in the 2008 election. Of the Republican candidates this year, she added, ‘They’re nothing but hatemongers trying to control everyone, saying, ‘Live as I live.’…

“Last week Joyce Kimball, a retired secretary in Greenville, Ill., who voted for Mr. McCain in 2008, said she had recently become ‘fed up,’ adding that it was not out of the question for her to vote for a Democrat in November. ‘I’m looking to hear how the candidates propose to put people back to work, not what they think about contraception,’ she said. ‘I hope to God they stop talking about this.’”

***

“Of course, Democrats started the conversation, but it was a good conversation to start if the goal was to get some Republicans to say some things that could be used against them. Fortunately, Mitt Romney, the Republican candidate who is going to be the nominee, had the sense not to say much. He was “tepid.” Good! We don’t want the government in our bedroom, so we don’t need a passionate President. Let him stay in his office and coolly and calmly do his job, which shouldn’t have anything to do with sex. He’s not our boyfriend.

Man, I loathe this pandering to women! Don’t treat us like we’re stupid. Don’t act like we need your special protection. Don’t buy us things.”

Like all of their other cynical, outrageous, fake campaign ploys, the Obama team pulled the trigger way too soon on its War on Women™. It will be a joke by summer, and something that actually pisses voters off by election day. The real war on women is unemployment, gas prices, and saddling their babies with debt and a future that makes Greece look like a walk in the park. That message will get through by November.

Republicans won the female vote 49% to 48% in the 2010 midterms.

Recent Gallup polls on abortion show that women are evenly split between identifying themselves as pro-life or pro-choice.

The majority of Tea Party activists are women.

Let Obama convince himself that women are lock step Liberals like Blacks, and all he has to do is ratchet up the “Republicans want women barefoot and pregnant” rhetoric, and they’ll all fall into line.

Bottom line: In 2008, Obama was running against Bush. In 2012, he’s going to try to run against Sarah Palin.

It’s a waste of time. It’ll go nowhere in the House and even if it did, there aren’t the votes in the Senate. All that filing the articles will do is give the Obama team another “Birther!” wing-nut kind of bloody flag to wave.

If Democrats were consistent and had standards, however, Dennis Kuchinich would file Articles of Impeachment, with many co-sponsors, tomorrow morning against Obama as a result of what happened in Afghanistan earlier today. In 2008, Kuchinich and Wexler filed Articles of Impeachment against Bush. One of the 35 counts was Abu Ghraib. If Bush was responsible for what some rogue soldiers did in an Iraqi prison that didn’t kill anyone, then Obama must be responsible — according to their logic — for what a rogue soldier did in Kandahar Province.

Of course, since we are talking about Democrats, there’s no chance of any of this happening…

It’s a real pity we don’t have a free press in this country because, if we did, the Democrats would actually have to work at messaging. Just the fact they can have Chuck Schumer in charge of messaging, in the Senate, indicates the press isn’t doing it’s job. There is no more political hack in the Senate, than Chuck Schumer and he gets away with messaging?

The beauty of this is, the whole country now realizes the press isn’t doing it’s job so they don’t believe the messaging. They know the Republicans aren’t waging a war on women. They don’t believe we should be paying for anyones birth control. They know Ms. Fluke is a political plant for the Democrats and she’s an activist. They also know that Rush Limbaugh is not a defacto leader of the Republican Party, but if he is then Bill Maher must be the defacto leader of the Democrats.

Now i know that it is hard since half their ‘consultants’ lean left or are out and out Dem moles.

And I know that some like the Free Media that they get so that they can sell more BOOKS….and get more speaker FEES. And then some are just cranks.

But still, can’t the RNC haul them into a room and not let them come out until they get some brains?

Because they’re stupid.

I learned after I came to the US that there is, basically, one political party with two branches.

The Evil Branch: Democrats

The Stupid Branch: Republicans

Obama’s ‘Sweetie’: Spontaneous or Sexist?
May 16 2008
*************

The recent flap over Sen. Barack Obama calling a female reporter “sweetie” sparked a national dialogue over what is acceptable language between men and women in the workplace.

The moment came at a campaign stop in Detroit, when Peggy Agar, a reporter at ABC’s Detroit affiliate WXYZ-TV, asked Obama this question: “Senator, how are you going to help the American autoworkers?”

“Hold on a second, sweetie. We’ll hold a press avail,” replied Obama, referring to a structured question and answer session with the media.(More…………)

It’s not just in this country. Look at what the fools did in my country yesterday!

Slovaks, angered by a corruption scandal and weary of government austerity measures, threw their support in weekend parliamentary elections behind a left-leaning politician who has pledged to raise taxes on companies and the wealthy.

There is stupid everywhere I guess.

That’s just a resurection of the 2008 the American Nurses Association website to support Obama. The ANA resurrectionis a union, their membership might be around 5% of RN’s in the US.

It should say “UNION nurses for Obama”

Build a false narrative, hype the heII out of it. Snooker women into it. Petty simple right ladies? Happy Mothers Day! Here have some oral contraceptives. And maybe an abortion while your at it. Oh, wait…….never mind. Kind doesn’t make much sense it being, well you know, Mothers Day. Close enough for Government work.
John Daly
War on Women, Ladies buy into this at your own peril. We had better all focus on the real narrative. Utter collapse. No pun intended.
LAURIE KELLMAN
Just remember, this all could have been avoided if Alaskan voter had just kept their thinking caps on and stayed informed to the facts. They didn’t, we ended up with Murkowski. Hers a tip Ladies. I love strong minded females. Ones who make up their own minds and focus on the real factual issues of the day. Regrets indeed.
Karen Tumulty
Women that vote Dem are as foolish as men that do. You will deserve the collapse that’s coming. You will in fact own it, little else, at least it can’t get you pregnant.
Thomas Fitzgerald
If in fact the US women are the difference in 0 winning. I will have to review and possibly embrace the old saying.”Women, you can’t live with them, you can’t shoot them.” I may also be forced to embracing. “Treat em like dogs and they will lick your boots.” Ladies get it together, your Nation is at stake, buck up!
SUSAN SAULNY
Centrist my a$$. These are leftist fems. NYT weaving that narrative for the Dems like only the times can do it. Ladies, please, don’t buy this crap.
Ann Althouse
“Man, I loathe this pandering to women! Don’t treat us like we’re stupid. Don’t act like we need your special protection. Don’t buy us things.” I have one point here to make. Ladies follow this false narrative and it will undermine exactly that which you seek to protect. Think this through with great clarity. You are being used. Is that what you want?
Video 1 Lady’s if Liberalism is what you want. Nothing can stop you. Vote Liberal, vote Dem. Policy’s with a proven track record for destroying the family.
Video 2 Tell the lie enough and the perception becomes the truth. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. The ball is in your court Ladies the pressure is on you. You best get this right.
Video 3 0 soft selling the narrative. Dems have the better story to tell. Total destruction of family, near destruction of economy, imminent collapse of the country’s institutions. That is three from a very long list. Ladies it is up to you. Get it right.

Women, equal, better, worse.

Bmore on March 11, 2012 at 10:43 PM

A lifetime supply of trojans? A get out of jail free card for supplying gangs in another country with weapons that killed some of my on countrymen? Maybe I’ll just sacrifice some of my freedom instead.
