Open thread: Sunday morning talking heads

posted at 8:00 am on March 4, 2012 by Allahpundit

Whole lotta Newt this morning as he guns for one last surge in time for Super Tuesday. Santorum and Ron Paul will appear too, but the most interesting topic across the dial will be Breitbart’s legacy. Howard Kurtz and his guests plan to address it on “Reliable Sources.” “Fox News Sunday” likely will touch on it too.

The line-up via the LA Times:

State of the Union With Candy Crowley Super Tuesday: GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich. Super Tuesday: GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul. 2012 White House and Congress: Ron Brownstein; Dana Bash. President Obama’s AIPAC speech: Martin Indyk; Nick Burns. President Obama’s AIPAC speech: Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.); Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-Md.)…

Face the Nation GOP presidential candidates Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul; Panel. John Dickerson; Norah O’Donnell; Michael Gerson, the Washington Post.

Meet the Press 2012 politics; GOP legislative strategy: Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.).President Obama’s re-election effort: Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.).

This Week With George Stephanopoulos Super Tuesday: GOP Presidential Candidate Newt Gingrich. The general election: Obama campaign advisor David Axelrod.

Fox News Sunday Super Tuesday: GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum. Foreign policy; Afghanistan; Iran: Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.); Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.). Georgetown Basketball Coach John Thompson III. Panel: Bill Kristol; Jeff Zeleny; Kimberley Strassel; Juan Williams.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch……

The OWSers are making a “documentary.” I am quite confident that this movie will be released in the fall, played on every college and public high school campus in the nation and used as a campaign tool to garner votes for Obama.

This has been a tragic and crazy week…

Breitbart dies all of a sudden. Sherrif Arpio has a press conference where he reveals that forensic experts state that the Whitehouse is putting out forged documents and no one seems to care. Rush Limbaugh gets a package that has some strange Lincoln a$$asination message in it that his security thought was a bomb, the media plasters his address to all the lib crazies. The media has manipulated half the country into thinking we should add one more thing that tax payers should pay for that no one even cared about a few weeks back. Some girl gets on nation wide tv and brags she is having so much sex every year she can’t afford contraceptives, is called a slut but Rush and Rush is the one without class…

Ohio Prediction:

Santorum is not on the ballot in 3 of 13 districts.

See Family of three GOP delegates gets Santorum on ballot in an Ohio district for an explanation.

Ohio Predictions
Of the 15 at-large

Romney: 7
Santorum: 8

Of 16 Districts

Romney wins 3 by default and 6 contested for 27 delegates
Santorum wins 7 contested for 21 delegates

State Party Leaders give Romney 2, Santorum 1

Totals
Romney: 36
Santorum: 30

http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com/2012/03/super-tuesday-delegate-rules-and.html

See also:

“On Super Tuesday, if Sen. Santorum were to carry a district where he has not seated a full delegate slate, he will be awarded delegates where he has submitted delegate names,” said Ohio Republican Party spokesman Chris Maloney. “And the additional delegates in that district will be unallocated.”
This almost certainly sets up challenges, if not from Santorum then from political rivals such as Mitt Romney or Newt Gingrich.

The state party says it has not faced this situation before, but it has been reviewing its bylaws and is prepared, if there is a challenge, to convene what it calls a “committee on contests.”
State Republican Chairman Kevin DeWine would appoint three party members to the committee, and they would make a recommendation to the state party’s central committee, which would rule.
If Santorum or another candidate did not like the ruling, he could appeal to the Republican National Committee.

Romney spokesman Ryan Williams… this dig on Twitter: “FUN WITH NUMBERS: Number of OH delegates @RickSantorum failed to submit: 18. Number of points @RickSantorum lost his last senate race by: 18.”

“Santorum’s delegate debacle” in the state of Ohio:

His campaign failed to qualify for 18 of the 63 Ohio delegates that are bound by Tuesday’s results because he didn’t make it onto the ballot in several congressional districts. (Three unpledged RNC delegates bring the state’s total to 66.)

Ginsberg pointed out that even Rick Perry and Jon Huntsman, both of whom dropped out of the race in January, had qualified for the ballot in all of Ohio’s districts.

Ginsberg also reminded his listeners that Santorum failed to get on the ballot in Virginia and Washington, D.C., and isn’t on all of the ballots in Illinois and Tennessee.

“So what that means,” he said, “is that that basic organizational test that you are going to have to have to battle President Obama is a test that Rick Santorum and his campaign have flunked.”

Turner went further, suggesting Santorum is, in essence, unfit for the White House: “Running for president is sort of like a competency exam for being president, and voters don’t want to pick someone who runs for president or to be their president who’s not even capable of getting on the ballot everywhere. This basic competency test I think goes right to the issue of whether or not he’s put forth the full effort in Ohio to both have a full slate of delegates [and] to represent our country, as he’s failed the basic test here in running his campaign.”

Chris Wallace clearly shows us that the fix is in for Romney. He spent the majority of the interview with Santiorum on the non issues of contraception, No Child Left Behind and even Rick’s tax returns.
Funny that Chris was trying to say that Santorum is trying to impose his views when Chris was conducting an interview reminiscent of an inquisition.

God, I hate politics and I hate the ruling class. If Romney wins the nomination, I am giving up. 35 years of this crap is too much.

The establishment in both parties is destroying this country. I guess only a total collapse will wake people up to the obvious problem. As an example of Andrew’s legacy, a small Catholic woman confronts 3 young black hipsters who crashed a CA Tea Party conference yesterday. They did so to harass Rev. I don’t particularly buy into the “the establishment” stuff, but even if it’s true, sometimes you have to stop the bleeding before you can advance. Barack Obama has got to be defeated. His defeat will be a defeat for socialism, no matter who is elected. It will be a rejection of his big government fascist (and that is what it is!) agenda. Please, vote for the Republican candidate, whomever he is. Stop the bleeding. If he isn’t up to the job, we’ll primary him in 2016, but we’ll have stopped the bleeding and Barack Obama will be gone.

ATTN: Ed Morrissey

Where is the separate post about Mitt Romney’s huge, double-digit victory in the Washington State Caucus yesterday?

Mitt Romney 19,111 37.6%
Ron Paul 12,594 24.8%
Rick Santorum 12,089 23.8%
Newt Gingrich 5,221 10.3%

Romney got more votes than both the bigot Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich COMBINED.

Ed Morrissey, just 3 days ago you saw fit to write a post with the headline partially reading, “Santorum Poised to Win WA Caucus.”

Well, Romney is the one who won, and WON BIG! Voters of a wide range of demographic and ideological categories want Romney. We know that Romney, a total class act, is the guy who can and WILL beat Barack Obama.

Why is there next to no HotAir coverage of this huge Romney victory?

The lack of coverage on this site about this latest huge Romney win is really disgraceful.

The unelectable bigot Rick Santorum continued his downward spiral and is one big step closer to dropping out of the race. I wonder if Rick Santorum will drop out the day before or the day after Super Tuesday. Either way, we all still know that…

A Vote for the Bigot Rick Santorum in the Primary = A Vote for Barack Obama’s Reelection

bluegill on March 4, 2012 at 10:32 AM

I just picture Romney in one of his awkward debate moments and I can’t help but think Obama will come out on top. Consider that the majority of Americans still don’t understand the fact that Obama blatantly lies every time he opens his mouth. I just don’t see Romney calling him out to the degree that I think would be necessary.

I honestly can’t think of anything more disheartening than Obama’s possible reelection. The injustice that an America-hating POS like him ever got elected in the first place cuts so deeply, I can barely stand to think about it. I’m not prepared in any way to have to swallow that pill again.

SheVee on March 4, 2012 at 11:15 AM

When Obama and his administration want something they turn to the media to pick up the cause and runs with. Obama is relentless, you’ll hear at every MSM outlet, every press conference, you’ll hear from every democratic representative, most every website, most every news papers, and it goes on for weeks on end, years on end, look at “raising taxes wealthy.” They don’t give up, it’s called manipulation and programming, if they say it enough and you hear it enough, people will believe it. It’s how Obama and his entire administration handles every issue they want. Now, it women birth- control.

Meanwhile: Republicans remain silent, and screw up every opportunity to fight against all the above. They don’t have the messaging, or the insight to fight against the above in an effective way. It drives me nuts! So, every show on TV today will take up the cause for womens birth-control/

Zcat on March 4, 2012 at 11:33 AM

While the “anyone but Romney” GOPers are arguing their points in “comments” sections of political/conservative websites across the blogosphere, everyday GOP voters with a “normal” interest in politics, spread across the 4 corners of this great country, are consolidating behind Mitt Romney. They have the common sense to see that Romney has the only viable road to the nomination and the only legitimate chance of beating Obama. They want this fight to start now. As each day passes and new issues arise for this country, they want to hear one unified voice against Obama and not four different opinions coming in all different directions. Super Tuesday needs to be the end to this madness, there is just too much at stake. “Anyone but Romney” GOPers – nice try though…….

The medical examiner is wise to cover all bases, otherwise there would be conspiracy theories. This way if there is foul play it will be found and if not it would put that concern to rest.

Rose on March 4, 2012 at 1:31 PM

Rose…so true. It was such an untimely death and covering all bases will put the conspiracies to rest.

I have one simple question. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?
Newt Gingrich again displayed his clear superiority over Romney and Santorum on MTP, -yet you can’t pull the lever for him because he sat on a couch with Pelosi? Something he has admitted was a mistake.
This, compared to the daily avalanche of revelations concerning Mitts support of mandates etc. etc.? Newt is the only candidate with a plan to overhaul the government, the ability to articulate it and the background to carry it out.

AmeriCuda on March 4, 2012 at 2:37 PM

Rick Santorum’s Fox News Sunday interview was nothing short of excruciating. Was switching back & forth between his answer on contraception, and Newt Gingrich’s on Meet the Press. Newt swung hard against David Gregory, “elite media”, and especially against President Obama’s target-rich abortion/debt, etc. record.

Switch back to Rick. With a constipated expression he sang every note of that whiny, deep-in-the-policy-weeds birth control song of his.

Wallace continued his baffling beat-down (which, in fairness, he did NOT do to Mitt Romney a few weeks back).

Income tax forms: Mr. Romney gave 14% charitable donations, Mr. Obama gave 14% charitable donations, Mr. Santorum gave 1% charitable donations.

Right here, Rick! Right here is when you turn into the Incredible Hulk (or at least Chris Christie) and come over the top of Smug-Smuggie Wallace with “NONE OF YOUR FRIGGIN BUSINESS, PUNK!!!

But of course not. Blah-blah homeschool. Blah-blah sick child. Feed the beast.

Then, just to make you want to rip your eyeballs out, Chris Wallace (apparantly star prosecutor of Fox TV’s Burke’s Law remake)/, actually careened into ‘You LIED about what the president said re: all kids going to college!!1!!’

C’mon, Rick. Two words. Scroob yoo or, um, how bout Oh well…I swear it was like watching the worst game show contestant evah!

Mr. Santorum: I was wrong. Thought I read it somewhere, but–

(sigh) Aw shiznit.

Yeah THAT! ^^^^^^^

Thanks…I’m going to use it…but when you want it back you may to have wrestle me for it. :-)

You’ll have to wrestle Seven Percent Solution. I stole it from him! I don’t think he minds though.

Did you not notice there is a thread on that topic? Please don’t encourage that idiot.

Eric Cantor endorsed Mr. Romney on MTP. Also noted that both he (Mr. Cantor) and David Gregory belong to a minority religion (Santeria? Wicca? Scientology?)

BigAndrew was a big, shaggy, lovable sheepdog who looked out for all of us by fearlessly standing up against the bullies, thugs, and lapdog media liars. When a champion of the people falls in his prime, it is a huge loss and a crying shame.

I hope Drudge does something big in honor of him.

Peggy Noonan speaks like she’s reading a bedtime story to a very small, timid child. Or like a hypnotist softly intoning, “You are getting sleeeeepy…Your eyes are getting hea-veeee…”

Attention Ed Morrisey:

I wish people could be banned for being mind-numbingly boring and repeating the exact same tripe in every single comment they post.

This is why I think she’s Aslan’s Girl reincarnated. Same fixation on one person and style of nastiness running down everyone else to “help” her preferred candidate.

New site!
Particularly interesting to the Little Blue Fish and other Romneycare shills would be the Romney takes as much federal taxpayer money as he can get for his endeavors video two thirds of the way down the right side!
