Video: The 1% tip hoax

The story was too good to be true. A wealthy banker runs up a three-figure bill, only tips 1% (!), and writes a note to the server to “get a real job” as a parting insult. CNN, Huffington Post, and other media outlets ran with the story of the arrogant banker and his miserly recompense to the help. There was only one thing wrong — it really was too good to be true:
According to Huffington Post, CNN and several other news sites, a person claiming to be an employee of the “wealthy” banker took a photo of the receipt and posted it on a blog, “Future Ex-Banker”. The blogger paired the photo with their own caption:
“Mention the ’99 percent’ in my boss’ presence and feel his wrath. So proudly does he wear his 1 percent badge of honor that he tips exactly 1 percent every time he feels the server doesn’t sufficiently bow down to his Holiness. Oh, and he always makes sure to include a ‘tip’ of his own.” …
The post set off a hailstorm of online comments that touched on the 1% vs. 99% class warfare embodied by the Occupy movement.
HuffPo later posted a statement from the restaurant that said that the photo had been “altered and exaggerated.” How exaggerated? Well, according to the local CBS affiliate — who actually asked the restaurant about the bill — the meal was just over $30 instead of $133, the tip was 20% and not 1%, and the customer didn’t write any note to the server on the bill. “Exaggerated” in this case serves as a synonym for “flat-out lie.”
Then again, without a lot of flat-out lies, where would the Occupy movement be?

What possible sense is there in “aborting” a baby once it is viable? All of the work of pregnancy is over; people already know you were pregnant; so far as I know, no law forces you to keep the baby instead of sending it to social services for adoption. There is no coherent rationale for late-term infanticide except “I just don’t want to deal with it”.
It sounds like there were many cases where the mother was not, in fact, the one making the decision. So, what does the “pro-choice” label really mean?

If doing calculus was the litmus test of if someone should live or not, wowee, imagine the carnage that would generate.
However, when babies are born, they recognize their mothers. If the doctor whispers in one ear and the mother whispers in the other, they will turn to try to look at the mother. Even if the doctor is a woman, so that the modulation of the voice is not a factor. Same too with the father, if the father was around during the pregnancy. They can hear and recognize familiar sounds when they haven’t been born yet.
If your baby is breach, one technique to try to turn the baby is to shine a flashlight through the skin at the bottom of your tummy. It doesn’t always work, but the reasoning is that their eyes see the light and try to investigate it.
Their brains are working in utero. Even if they aren’t doing calculus.

The vast majority of adults I’ve ever met in my whole life couldn’t do calculus to save their lives. Are you suggesting they should be required to?
There is no limit that you will ever accept as a pro-abortionist. You call yourself pro-choice, but care nothing for the choices of 2 of the 3 people involved in the practice, the father and the child. The father can’t decide to keep the baby if the mother doesn’t want it and he can’t choose to ignore it if she does. He still has to pay child support.
The child, on the other hand, would only make one choice while still in the womb. To live. Could you possibly disagree with this? If so, the only way you will ever convince me is to off yourself. Go ahead, show us the depth of your own convictions.

How about something REALLY simple — like a fetal viability law with teeth. Every abortion must be attended by two doctors — the doctor for the mother (the abortionist), and the doctor for the children (a obstetrician). The abortionist is restricted to using methods which will not reduce the viability of the fetus, and the obstetrician is there to assure that he doesn’t.
Of course, this would mean that someone other than the parents or the abortion mill must provide the obstetrician, because those don’t give a rat’s patootie about the rights of the children.
The fees perhaps should come as a tax on abortions.

The problem with your argument is that a fetus is not a part of a woman’s body. A fetus is a unique, separate entity that attaches itself, and grows inside the mother.
