Obama has a problem because his model of perfect government is communism. That doesn't really fly with the Arabs because they are more into family-run tryannies, supported by a state-run religious terror.

So, he doesn't have much to say here. He is a bystander, witness Hillary's comments about being "a betting person" (not a betting man, of course). Only if you are an opportunist do you bet on another's misfortune.

He's just waiting for the fallen carcasse of Assad, so he can take credit and make a deal with the next tyrant.

This must be his foreign policy. Getting our skin in the game and helping the Arab spring get sprung. He said the same thing about Libya. Yes, If Christians want refuge, we should. Let the others fight it out on their own there. Arab Spring and Arab Winter are an Arab disaster.

Oh, and btw Clinton's Balkan War was ginned up to give the appearance of assisting MUSLIMS (which they promptly and conveniently forgot), all the while our Christian brothers were trying to staunch the northward migration of murderous Muslims and Sharia Law into Europe proper.
There was no "genocide". It was a clear case of self-defense for which we should have been grateful. Why do Democrats choose the wrong side?
Gobsmackingly stupid.

There no such thing as “persecuted Christians” in the middle east. Except maybe in Israel and Iraq. There maybe some incidents here and there in some countries but it’s definitely not an organized thing.
The irony is that most Arab Christians are Orthodox Christians, the same Orthodox Christians who tried to ethnic clean the Muslim minorities in their countries; like Bosnia, Kosovo and Chechnya.

Huh?
Facts are pesky things, eh? You blatantly omitted the worst offenders in that region (Egypt among them). But, given your nom de plume, I'm not surprised. Try to keep up with world events instead of Islamic propaganda.

Re: Re-settling Christians in America, Catholic Social Services has been doing that for decades. After the United States unceremoniously abandoned our partners in Southeast Asia, the Hmong and Montagnards (ferocious fighters, btw), the Catholic Church took on the task of re-settlement. Hmong shrimpers were (are still?) persecuted by TEXANS.

Maybe they could be re-settled to CA's Central Valley, thus removing the incentive for illegal Mess'kan labor. Oh wait - Barry has to turn the water back on first.
Never Mind

BTW ... Michigan has a rather large contingent of Chaldean and Coptic refugees who are quite resourceful; small family business owners for the most part.

“In a CNN/ORC/International poll released Tuesday, 73% of Americans said the U.S. has no obligation to respond to the ongoing unrest, while 25% agreed with the notion.”

I'd wager that the 25% in favor have no idea what's going on and how intervention would NOT be in America's best interests.
The only thing to be gained from coordinating with the Syrian opposition is for them to lead us to where Baby Eye Doc Assad has cached Saddam Hussein's WMDs.
Otherwise, it's NONE of OUR business. What happens when you swat at a hornet's nest?
Take the hint, Slappy.

Daddy Assad started in on the WMD building, way back when. He left a large infrastructure for his son which is based on the phosphate deposits in Syria. Add to that the weapon technology purchased from NoKo and later Iran and you get a fun set of places making lots of chemical weapons.

The best part is that there may be an underground bio-weapons research group as Syria started importing manufacturing equipment to make pharmaceuticals and then, once the dual-use equipment was delivered, decided that they really didn't have that as a goal... but thanks for selling them the equipment!

Finally, the ultra-special best part, is that those very same phosphate deposits have a small amount of uranium in them: they are then refined into yellowcake. The regime over father and son have been trying to get a refining system up and running (which they also purchased on a dual-use basis) and then start getting down to manufacturing nuclear weapons components. With the help of NoKo. Israel bombed that first attempt a few years ago, but if the precision manufacturing is still left in place, then they form the final part of the Iranian scheme necessary to produce nuclear weapons. I estimated they could get enough uranium that, when refined and the radioactive portions sorted out, could make about 6 small nuclear devices a year. Those plans are on the black market due to AQ Khan's work...

The knowns in Syria are bad enough.

The known unknowns are horrifically frightening.

I made comments at American Thinker a few days ago about this. I'm suprised it's as far as it is, but I expected nothing to happen because there is no op-for to back; and if there was, there is no way of differentiating peoples. This would be worst since Somalia, with reprecussions to the future. Just curious what the UN result will be from this. Peacekeepers ---> Peacebringers? Finally an army?

I knew Libya would happen, absolutely perfect opponent: long coast, population centers along coast, low pop nation, universally unliked, chance to prove Obama is tough and that the globalism works (thru their pov). Again, this part of the world is testosterone, either alpha-dog, a follower, or run over. Accept stability, and leave peoples to their convictions.

Obama on Syria: “It’s important that we not be bystanders during these extraordinary events”

.........but when Iran was slaughtering it's people in the streets.....the same terrorist regime that is on the brink of a nuclear bomb and responsible for thousands of American deaths......

Obama had this to say:

Obama:

We do not interfere in Iran’s internal affairs. We have condemned terrorist attacks against Iran. We have recognized Iran’s international right to peaceful nuclear power. We have demonstrated our willingness to take confidence-building steps along with others in the international community. We have accepted a proposal by the International Atomic Energy Agency to meet Iran’s request for assistance in meeting the medical needs of its people. We have made clear that if Iran lives up to the obligations that every nation has, it will have a path to a more prosperous and productive relationship with the international community.

..is it any wonder why Obama's foreign policy has been such a disaster when he is all over the map like this.

Obama gets a stabilized Iraq on a silver platter when he comes into office only to turn it over to Iran.

Obama promises that he has a "smarter plan" to win the war in Afghanistan only to retreat within a few years....leaving it more armed and dangerous than when we came in after 9/11.

Obama backed the overthrow of Mubarak only to watch the jihadist Muslim Brotherhood and Salfist take over.

Obama launches a war in Libya, without Congressional approval, against an oil rich country that did not attack us and posed no imminent threat, only to watch the jihadist and al-qaeda fill the power vacuum left behind.

Obama supported the overthrow of the Yemen leadership with al-qaeda and other jihadist groups waiting in the wings to assume control.

Now he wants to intervene in Syria.

Unbelievable.

Capitulate to Iran....retreat in Afghanistan....turn Iraq over to Iran so that he can take out Libya and Syria, then watch it be taken over by the jihadist.

You just can't fix stupid.

Obama has<strike> expanded</strike> lost the war in Afghanistan, started bombing Libya, Yemen, Pakistan…. and could start new wars in Syria and Iran. Slightly off thread: This quote struck me between the eyes.
We are watching the most incompetent or malevolent dictator/President attempt to destroy the foundations of our wonderful country. We must not stand by and let him have another term and ruin everything our forefathers have stood for. They say the Tea Party is irrelevant. Let's show them otherwise. It's important that we not be bystanders during these extraordinary events!

Christ himself said when he sent out the 12: "If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust off of your feet when you leave that home or that town. I tell you the truth, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town"

Later in Acts, the apostles did exactly that when they were driven from a town where the people would not even hear them out. When you look at what Iran has done to that pastor, and the other islamic societies that not only reject, but persecute Christians, in some instances it may be time for the remaining believers to shake the dust from their feet as they leave. However, in other cases, there are converts being won in those countries, so there is a receptive audience in some places. Think about the freedom that Christianity offers those suffering under the tyranny of a works-righteousness law-based religion. That would be a real loss to those in those countries.
