Obama To Women: “Look, Little Ladies! A Shiny Object!”

posted at 5:30 pm on February 18, 2012 by Mitch Berg

Barack Obama thinks women are idiots.

Time will tell if he’s got a point.

Here’s the deal:  Obama’s poll numbers aren’t good.  Oh, the media is doing its best to spin it (with measures that seem desperate and slapdash), but the economy is still miserable (especially if you’re not too big to fail), the unemployment rate is “Down” to where the Administration said it wouldn’t go above if we passed Porkulus, and that’s through the grace of the fact that no Mullah in Iran has yet walked to the shore at the Strait of Hormuz and skipped a rock across the water, sending tankers scurrying for cover and pushing oil over $200 a barrel.  Yet.  And even so, this is the longest period of high unemployment since the Great Depression - largely because of Obama’s policies.

People have been cooling on “The One” pretty much since inauguration day.

And The One needs to get that enthusiasm going again.

And so what better to take peoples’ minds off their miseries and rile the (female) troops?

“Republicans want to take away your contraceptives!”

Notwithstanding the fact that, as Romney noted in December when George Stephanopoulos incongruously broached the subject in a debate, the subject has never come up in GOP circles.  Period.  It’s a non-issue to the GOP.

No matter.  The media is in lock-step behind the Administration’s meme that the GOP wants to outlaw contraception.  The theatrical “walk-out” of Democrats from Darrel Issa’s hearings was a classic bit of Goebbelsian theatre; while the useful idiots in the media (in this case, the gleefully dim Amanda Terkel at Huffpo) called the hearings “about contraception” they were in fact hearings on the constitutionality of mandating that religious groups offer contraception against their beliefs.

Catch that?  The Democrats don’t even need to hijack Republicans’ meetings themselves.  The mainstream media will do it for them, after the fact.

At any rate, that’s Obama’s message to female voters:  “Never mind the economy; never mind the unemployment rate; never mind the fiscal catastrophe waiting for you, your kids, and their kids; and above all, don’t believe your lying ears when the GOP mentions that they’ve never said word one about taking anyone’s contraceptives away.  Look!  Boogeyman!”

Women, in Barack Obama’s world, are not just dim little dolts; they seem to think that women are intellectual slaves to their reproductive systems.

So true. The only way for Obama to get re-elected in such a bad economy is for the GOP to scare the undecided voters with some religious social con candidate.

Will they do it? Obama has his fingers crossed.

Given that Obama’s “coalition” consists of people who are either ignorant or easily fooled , I guess “TEH Won” thinks he can throw a bauble at women and fool them.

There isn’t anyone who WANTS contraception that can’t get it. Given that women are as likely to be religious as anyone else forcing Churches to pay for it can’t be popular…

All the GOP has to do is come back with, “Nobody’s outlawing contraception, we just think that how much is covered by the plan should be determined by the individual insurance companies and their customers. The worst thing we’re asking for is you to pay a co-pay. A Freakin’ co-pay.”

Lets be honest here, this whole issue is because women can vote. Why give votes to things that can be swayed easily by the devil… Lets work on repealing the 19th amendment.

Why do people keep saying this? Of course the Communications of the Democratic Party hijacked a Republican meeting. You should only be shocked when they DON’T do this. And then, make sure you keep an eye on the other hand because you can be certain that’s where they’ve hidden their true agenda. You only give them aid and comfort when you call them MSM. They are not. They are mainstream only to the Democrats.

Women aren’t stupid but the culture of women is different. It has different values. Different heroes. Different philosophies. And as such it goes in different directions.

If women couldn’t vote it’s unlikely that the existing socialist political system would be sustainable. Men tend to be against it while women tend to be for it. Obviously women not voting is not a solution or desirable. But perhaps republicans could think of a way to engage female voters in a way they’ve successfully engaged male voters.

If anyone is actual stupid in current election cycle, it is the GOP primary voters who seemed obsessed with snatching defeat from the jaws of victory by nominating a candidate whose extreme views are scary to many people. Come October when Obama is polling 60%, I just hope that we can sell people on voting GOP down ticket to keep an eye on Obama.

Not sure if just a troll or the average Hotair commenter…

Yesterday he was a “Catholic Atheist”. Every thread that mentions religion draws him. Then he turns it into “Why does the GOP hate me because I’m an Atheist”. Then he will go into all his “God” issues. It’s tedious. He wants to have an “anti-baptism” to undo the original one. I wouldn’t take him too seriously.

Night Owl on February 18, 2012 at 7:02 PM

It’s not fair to claim that Obama thinks women are stupid. His reelection just needs a short hand way of saying just absolutely lunatic are Santorum’s beliefs on social issues. If anyone is actual stupid in current election cycle, it is the GOP primary voters who seemed obsessed with snatching defeat from the jaws of victory by nominating a candidate whose extreme views are scary to many people. Come October when Obama is polling 60%, I just hope that we can sell people on voting GOP down ticket to keep an eye on Obama.

thuja on February 18, 2012 at 6:59 PM

I heard all that before. Back in 1980. When Reagan was starting to move ahead of the Electable George H.W. Bush.

Oh yes, I remember all the polling too…

October 1979, Ronald Reagan
Favorable 38 %
Unfavorable 39%

January 10, 1980 Gallup Poll
Carter 63%
Reagan 32%

Enough with the Romneybot Scare Tactics.

my brother, maybe God can forgive your actions, but you must seek his help. confess your sin to a true representative of his will, that is, a priest of the holy catholic church, and practice the penitence the priest commands you to!
careful, dont be tempted by the devil again and seek God in an heretic temple, you will only find there the eternal flames of hellfire!

Liberals?

Mere putrid beings whose sin filled lives forever cloud their decaying reason. We should haste their judgment day, so that their evil deeds finally meet their deserved eternal justice.

You don’t believe any of this. You are just trying to stir things up, which I think is trolling. How’s your “anti-baptism” coming?

The Planned Parenthood website says birth control pills cost betwen $15 and $50 per month, and condoms can be obtained free at some clinics and are less than a $1 at others.

Assuming a 40 hour work week, women could obtain birth control by insisting on making 10 cents to 30 cents an hour more when working for a Catholic charity than a place that had no problem with providing free contraception.

Problem solved by the free market with no one being forced to compromise their religious convictions and no one being deprived of their “contraception rights.”

MessesWithTexas on February 18, 2012 at 7:17 PM

But perhaps republicans could think of a way to engage female voters in a way they’ve successfully engaged male voters.

Karmashock on February 18, 2012 at 6:37 PM

I wouldn’t say Republicans have successfully “engaged” male voters; male voters are drawn toward a party that ostensibly promotes (seemingly in words only) individual liberty and responsibility, only to be disappointed time-after-time in their misdeeds.

The socialists have won. Over the past century, they’ve managed to emasculate enough males and infantilize enough adults — primarily through the institutions of academia, media, and government — that the tide can only be turned now once the whole house of cards collapses and people, once again, have to fend for themselves without being able to rely on or resort to the teat of the nanny state …

I’ve been on a kick of watching all the WWII stuff on Netflix lately. It is pretty similar.
