Just what you want to hear: Planned Parenthood works around the clock to hook your kids on sex

posted at 9:35 pm on February 16, 2012 by Tina Korbe

Recently, American Life League came out with a six-minute exposé of Planned Parenthood that was so appalling that I would have had a hard time believing it was true had it not been about Planned Parenthood. The video included clips and images from PP educational materials — cartoons and the like — and the gist of the clips was that teens should learn to pleasure themselves and each other as soon as possible.

At the time, I was so disgusted that I couldn’t bring myself to post it. Now, I wish I had. Because of a copyright claim, YouTube pulled the video. No worries, though: You can read more about its contents here. As the smallest of samplings, here’s a screenshot:

The cartoon in the corner speaks for itself.

The point of the ALL’s video was simple: Planned Parenthood has a vested interest in hooking the next generation on sex. They’re in the abortion business. They depend upon unwanted pregnancies to stay in business. They know no unwanted pregnancy occurs without sex, so they encourage sex — albeit “safe” sex.

Over at BuzzFeed, BigRedH mocks the American Life League for its concern, writing, “Yes, this is both real and terrible. How dare Planned Parenthood try to educate people?” But pamphlets, coloring books, mascots, banners, outrageously-shaped lollipops … These aren’t the hallmarks of education. They’re the hallmarks of marketing. Fortunately for Planned Parenthood, the product they’re marketing is the easiest in the world to sell — and, when teens buy it and then have need of other products (a.k.a. contraceptives, STD testing, abortions), Planned Parenthood cashes in.

It sounds extreme, but, in the end, isn’t that the foundational idea of Planned Parenthood — that customers should be able to have sex without consequences, unless those “consequences” are “planned”?

If it all still sounds like a stretch to you, consider Planned Parenthood’s latest effort to meet teens where they are:

Whether they are texting high school students, lecturing in public schools, or coaxing students to their cringeworthy “Teen Information” website, Planned Parenthood relentlessly tries to appeal to the nation’s youth. Their most recent attempt is the newly-launched “HeyPP!” Twitter account. The page is meant to reach teenagers with sexual health information[.]

Sexual health information like, oh, how to have a conversation with your boyfriend about using a condom, how to know when the time is “right” to have sex or how to know if you’re a “cheater” (hint: it depends on your particular relationship’s rules).

The good news is, teens are unimpressed:

Planned Parenthood’s reputation is fading in popularity as quickly as their choice of words. (Another HeyPP tweet reads, “Sounds like a solid plan!” I’m still watching for the word “groovy.”) Planned Parenthood has been exposed for lyingfailing to report statutory rape, and not only concealing, but aiding in the sex trafficking of minors.

But it isn’t only Planned Parenthood that has a dwindling reputation among teens. Abortion as a whole is becoming increasingly unpopular with our nation’s youth. Unlike generations before, today’s teens are a part of what can be called the “refrigerator generation.” Unborn children are not an abstract “blob of tissue” to us, as we have grown up seeing ultrasound images of our unborn brothers, sisters, and cousins on our refrigerator doors. Combine this with an increase in pro-life activism, and it makes sense that more of our generation reports to be pro-life than pro-choice.

Abortion and Planned Parenthood are losing popularity among youth, and no excessive use of the words “like” and “totally” is going to change that.

It’s irritating — and a little insulting to the intelligence — that the “experts” at Planned Parenthood really think teens need help figuring out how to follow their natural urges.

But what angers me most about Planned Parenthood’s perpetual attempts to perpetuate knowledge about every last perversion that plagues the human race is that it robs marriage and sex of mystery and romance. If everybody’s business is everybody’s business, then nothing is private. How ironic that the “right to privacy” has made public in a huge way what was once between just two people.

Incidentally, what evidence we have still suggests it’s better when people keep it to themselves. Let’s please bring back the conversational taboo; surely sex was more exciting that way.

Update: A kind Twitter follower supplied me with a link to a still-working version of the video. “Enjoy” isn’t exactly the right word, so … be appalled:

Sorry to break it to you. I’m a Christian, but I would not say that the concept of the Golden Rule predates the written text of the Bible. Remember, Leviticus was written around 1450 BC. The concept from Ancient Egypt predates it…historically speaking.

Hammurabi’s Code is a stretch to say it represents the Golden Rule.

Of course all of this is just a silly tangent meant to deflect criticism away from the concept of moral relativism.

Pattosensei on February 17, 2012 at 11:17 AM

School is supposed to be a safe environment where teens don’t feel like they are under constant threat of being bullied and harassed. Keep your ignorance to yourself.

theoddmanout on February 17, 2012 at 9:25 AM

Exactly. School is supposed to be a safe environment, free from stupid and dangerous liberal gay agendas aimed at normalizing dangerous behaviors like using the alimentary canal for sexual pleasure.

Keep your agendas to yourself and out of the school.

Robert Jensen on February 17, 2012 at 11:18 AM

is not a sin, that that God created gay people and they should be celebrated and not condemned.

theoddmanout on February 17, 2012 at 10:48 AM

God also, by that impeccable logic, created pedophiles.

Is the point then to celebrate pedophiles and pedophilia instead of condemning it?

And if the answer is no, then why do said churches insist that stopping pedophiles and preventing them from sexualizing children is homophobic?

Pattosensei on February 17, 2012 at 11:17 AM

Excellent point. Hammurabi’s Code is about encouraging and supporting retribution, while the Golden Rule at its core is against retribution.

But again, we’re dealing with a bigot. Mind tightly closed, mouth wide open.

9/11 was huge to us, but if 3,000 people were slaughtered in one incident in Soviet Russia, people might only hear about it through word-of-mouth rumors if at all. The horrors brought about by communism dwarf the examples you used. We lost 3,000 people to a religious madman named bin Laden, but how many lives were lost to an atheist madman named Mao? 70 million? That’s over 20,000 9/11s right there. Our economy was damaged by 9/11, yet we came out of it with some of the highest standards of living the world has ever seen. Standards of living in the Soviet Union, Maoist China, North Korea, Cuba, etc. are abysmal at best. $3.50 gas? Yet somehow, we can still afford to drive places and eat food even if that means a more modest vacation in the summer. Can’t say the same for people living under these atheistic regimes. Wondering if Iran will use the nuke? We used to wonder if the atheists controlling the Soviet Russia would use the nuke.

You still haven’t answered my question about why these things shouldn’t disprove the notion that the world would be so much better if it weren’t for religion.

theoddmanout on February 17, 2012 at 10:48 AM

Not all that call themselves followers of the Way are indeed following it. The Bible is rather explicit in stating that homosexuality is a sin:

1 Corinthians 6:9-11

New International Version (NIV)
9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men[a] 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Footnotes:

1 Corinthians 6:9 The words men who have sex with men translate two Greek words that refer to the passive and active participants in homosexual acts.

All right – how about no sex ed, no contraception, no abortion – BUT they partner with NPR to produce an Oliver Stone narrated program about the life of Andy Warhol?
Come..that’s ok…right? Nope…right, ok.

The video is a sensationalist piece of b.s produced by an activist org who’s main agenda would remain regardless of whether or not anything here is true. And with that hyper intro, I don’t see they have any goal here other than to preach to the converted.

instead of speculating, why not try it?

Because you, like all of Planned Parenthood’s defenders, do not want to deal with the fact that your abortion mill is pushing sex on ten-year-olds with cartoons of adult sexual organ, so you’re desperately flinging mud at the wall.

Answer the question. Why do you support showing ten-year-olds cartoons of adult sexual organs? Why do you think this is in the least appropriate? Do you agree with Planned Parenthood that ten-year-olds should be having sex?

Correct.

We are living in a world that is openly hostile to the Bible. A culture that tries to undercut the Bible at every opportunity. A culture that says that the Bible is wrong and it (the culture) is right.

ITguy on February 17, 2012 at 11:57 AM

PP and their Ilk used to say “we need “health” education in the schools because the parents are too “embarrassed” to talk about sex. Now sex is a product and romance, courtship and commitment are sneered at. Further, Virtues such as Chastity, Integrity, Virginity and Innocence are torn away by such. What they teach now turns these values on their heads, spreads diseases and destroys marriage. Plus the average 15 year old has detailed knowledge of sexual techniques that 50 years ago were only available from aging Whores at a premium. Instead of love and intimacy we get functionality.

“Very pneumatic” -Oh Brave New World”

Feel free to find where the NRA says that and present it here.

Meanwhile, it is clear that Planned Parenthood IS showing ten-year-olds cartoons of adult sexual organs, thinks it is appropriate, and is openly proclaiming that ten-year-olds should be having sex.

Once again, you seem singularly incapable of dealing with the topic at hand. As a supporter of Planned Parenthood, why are you unable to state that you agree with and support their views that ten-year olds should be shown cartoons of adult sexual organs, that doing so is appropriate, and that ten-year-olds should be having sex?

northdallasthirty on February 17, 2012 at 12:03 PM

Shame on Ray Liotta for doing this PP propaganda video. It does look look like him!

Still the best that PP apologists can do is moralize about others’ moralism, change the subject to the NRA and all sorts of other red herrings, and comment on the dangers forcing religious beliefs on others while offering their own insights on the mysteries of the universe. It is a sight to behold. Again simply the defend the cartoon.

Liar. First you are sidestepping the question. Second, the NRA does not say that 10 year olds should carry concealed weapons. Interesting though, when I was young, 10 year olds DID have .22′s, bullets could be bought in any hardware store and the local school had a rifle range and club and safety was taught.

Further, the stats on accidents are skewed by race as the 1.2 accidents per 100,000 is about the same for Switzerland or Norway (Where CNN showed children carrying shotguns to school to ward off bears!) if you only count Whites. If you include the African population here in the USA where black schools have to have metal detectors to stop the inflow of Knifes, shivs, pistols, etc. then the rate is much higher, around 56 per 100,000 (about the same as Nigeria).

Planned Parenthood educating teens about sex is wrong because the children are not mature enough to deal with the subject matter.

However, it is OK for churches/synagogues to ask children to get confirmed at those exact same ages, because apparently that subject matter isn’t for a mature audience? Twelve and thirteen year-olds can easily figure out God?

I smell hypocrisy.

You clearly have no idea what is spoken of in churches, regarding healthy sexuality. In my church they don’t just condemn pervision(sic). They condemn all forms of sexual immorality, and encourage abstinence before marriage, and monogamy after. They do not avoid the topic altogether, and I strongly suspect there are NO churches who do that. You are arguing what you assume happens in churches.

Whether the “flock” listens to that teaching and obeys Gods commands is an entirely different subject.

But, back to the subject at hand, which is Planned Parenthood using OUR tax dollars to promote sex for 10 year-olds. You obviously have no problem with that. Excuse me if I do have a problem with it.

They will even stoop to using amatueristic phallic cartoons to get the yungins on-board. If others gave this stuff to children, they could be charged with a crime, but if Planned Parentood does it, that’s OK. They are moral betters. Again, not one person since this morning has defended the cartoon. Every PP apologist have has changed the subject even to the point of thinking they know what churches do to instruct about sex and prove their ignorance. Defend the cartoon. And if you won’t do that, stop with your moralism.

Actually, no; it’s about the fact that both you and Planned Parenthood see nothing wrong with, and in fact want to encourage, ten-year-olds to have sex.

The other issues spring from that fact. To an extent, there can be an argument made that you’re only screwing up your own ten-year-olds if you and your fellow Planned Parenthood folks are making and showing them cartoons to encourage them to masturbate and have sex. But unfortunately, what both you and Planned Parenthood want is a) for children to be required to watch these videos in the name of “education” and b) for tax dollars from other people to be used to pay for them — which is screwing up other kids’ people, against their will for how they want their children to be raised, and using their tax dollars.

Hence the pushback.

That fixed, you ok with PP now…or did you have other (real and actual) concerns?

Disagree that leaving sex as taboo is a good thing. I do think it needs to be stressed that it needs to be done when you’re mature enough – preferably as an adult/17 or 18+ – but I like that my parents talked to me about sex; the idea of having open communication about the topic (and not necessarily through Planned Parenthood). My grandparents, on the other hand never brought the taboo topic up to their kids (my parents). Without the sex talk, the kids learned on their own through their friends who probably promoted unsafe and inaccurate information that led to stupid decisions later. It won’t remain a “mystery”. I do like that our culture is more open on the topic of masturbation now, too. That’s a good form of birth control (and prevents abortions, haha). I used to be so ashamed that I masturbated, and for what reason? Only the social stigma, the silence on the topic that made me feel like the only one. Most young women don’t even know where their clitoris is. Sexual health and knowing what you like is important – and self-pleasure is a no-risk situation.

Also, I thought that video was stupid. Sex isn’t a drug – you don’t get “hooked” on it. Oh, so turned on by those vulva macaroons! [/s] People like it because it’s an enjoyable act. Not everything that is enjoyable is addictive. They’ll enjoy it whether you promote it or not, and I’d even argue that people who learn about sex and at least masturbate will be less likely to do something stupid. The idea of sex is more tantalizing/romantic than the act itself, as with all fantasies – I remember thinking that it was going to be all fireworks and shooting stars when it happened to me and it wasn’t that big of a deal. I’d say you think about sex no matter who you are or how much you are exposed to it, and whether it’s taboo or not – it’s part of our biology.

The problem is that Planned Parenthood has already done their outrage against children. They are attempting to scrub it down the memory hole–they know they could eventually be finished if what they are really about is known–but we are going to shine the light on the rats. Charges would be filed against others if someone other than Planned Parenthood produced this and showed it to kids. This is who they are. It is outrageous, and no, the “good” they do in other areas does not outweigh the evil. The good outweighing the bad is not going to save Jerry Sandusky and rightly so. It will take longer with Planned Parenthood but they will eventually be a shell of their former self. You cannot defend the video. You are back to the good PP does argument. A group that would produce a video like this will be full of outrages, including not reporting crimes against underage girls, but keep on defending them.

mwbri on February 17, 2012 at 3:17 PM

From my perspective, much later in life, the fact that I had accurate or inaccurate information had absolutely nothing to do with decisions I made about sex. It was there, I had no adult encouraging or even speaking to me about abstinance or the purpose of sex, so I indulged. Correct information about sex did not change the outcome.

The Idea Here is that we should all encourage sex to occur only within the framework of marriage, and that all forms of sex outside of marriage (including masturbation) are immoral and abhorrent. Children should be taught these things by the parent in the home, and no organization like Planned Parenthood (who has a direct and measurable interest in promoting sexual activity) or government should be making decisions about what kids learn or don’t learn about sex.

Want to try it? Go draw some cartoons of adult sex organs and show them to children that aren’t yours; tell them how wonderful it is to masturbate and how they should just masturbate whenever they feel like it; tell them how great it is to have sex and how they’re ready to go ahead and do so right now.

Clearly you don’t see anything wrong with this. Clearly you don’t have a problem with Planned Parenthood doing it. We’re just holding you to it.

You and your fellow liberals have had absolute aneurysms about using cartoon characters for things like tobacco and Happy Meals, insisting that they increase risky and bad behavior by children — but you’re sitting here advocating and pushing for cartoons of adult sex organs that tell children to masturbate and have sex to be shown to kids at taxpayer expense and without their parents’ permission.

Clearly you and Planned Parenthood want children to masturbate and have sex. Why not just be honest about it?

jclittlep on February 17, 2012 at 3:22 PM

Right on.

Don’t forget, Planned Parenthood is one of the biggest donors to the Obama Party. This is why Barack Obama and liberals in general do everything in their power to promote promiscuity, to push taxpayer dollars to abortions, and to force funding for abortions — it is kicked back directly to them.

Any time you talk to a liberal or Obama Party politician, ask them why they are dependent on babies getting killed for funding. Ask them why we should believe that they would want to reduce abortions, since it would directly take money from them.

Teen Sex = Pregnancy = Abortion = Money for Plant Parenhood… At the end it is all about the money even if it is blood money made from killing the innocent unborn babies… For liberals, everything is about money, other people money and how to take it from them… Their only god is money, they worship money above everything else…
mnjg on February 17, 2012 at 1:08 PM

So true

As to your false premise question..you’d be ok with promoting sex for 10 year olds if it didn’t involve tax dollars?
It’s amazing that you’d believe any video that describes ‘materbation’ as a gateway drug to sex. Funniest video ever.
By the way, I can tell you that it’s not true. I did frequent masturbation in high school yet still had trouble getting laid. I never turned into the type of perverse sex addict who laid a hot girl every night.

jclittlep on February 17, 2012 at 3:22 PM

Exactly. I have my own beliefs about sex and I want to teach them to my child, without interference from ANY outside organization, whether it’s a school or a church or a government run organization like Planned Parenthood. The contrast for the liberals is astounding. On the one hand, they insist government stay out of our bedrooms, and on the other hand, they want to show our children what to do in them….and when.

No wonder so many families are home schooling their kids these days.

Heh, do you have any sources THAT GOD DOES NOT EXIST?

See, two can play that game! So according to your logic triple before science proved the atom existed it must be atoms DIDN’T exist prior to science proving it!

How closed minded some people are…yet they believe they have all of the answers…there are many things of heaven and man that we do not understand. We are mere infants when it comes to knowledge of how life and the universe (and possibly mutli-verses) work yet people like triple think they have all the right answers…laughable!

Liberty or Death on February 17, 2012 at 5:44 PM

Actually, teens DO need help figuring out how to follow their natural urges. That’s the whole idea of sex education. We KNOW they’re going to do it. Better that they know how to do it, and do it right, and how to do it safely without getting a disease or getting pregnant.

deadrody on February 16, 2012 at 9:52 PM

That’s like saying, “people with anger management issues need help figuring out how to follow their natural urge to unload their entire magazine of 40-cal bullets into the chest of the person that cut them off in traffic…’cause well that’s the whole idea of managing your anger!”

I’d prefer people show control and judgement, both of these two things are quickly becoming a lost art in our society. I’ll just speak for myself when it comes to having sex at a young age. I became sexual active at a very young age, my first sexual experience was at the age of 10 and I was having sex on a regular basis when I turned 13. I understand sex is as natural as breathing and I do believe if God hadn’t wanted us to have sex he (or she) would not have made us sexual beings. However I do want to say that in my opinion I started way too early and it did have a profound affect on my future relationships and sex became an unhealthy obsession for me that ruined many relationships that could have become very special. It took me a long time to finally learn that sex was not love, that true intimacy and the best sex is obtained not through the act of sex but through love.

I know from first hand experience that while young people may have urges and the equipment to have sex they are not well equipped emotionally to deal with sex. If you love your children and want them to grow to have healthy and stable relationships in the future you will take the time to teach them that sex is not love and intimacy has its responsibilities.

Just my 2-cents…

Liberty or Death on February 17, 2012 at 6:19 PM

My understanding of Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, is that she was a socialist, a eugenicist, and a strong advocate of removing from sex not merely the physical consequences, but all of religion’s moral and ethical considerations. Thus, irrespective of “marketing,” it is no surprise that Planned Parenthood is pushing that message among today’s youth, nor for that matter that Obama, our first socialist President, is pushing the Planned Parenthood agenda re contraception and abortion as a means of marginalizing religion and further pushing religion from the public square in America.

That certainly does drive the point home, doesn’t it? Any person or any organization doing that should be forced to register as a sex offender, and not allowed within 1,000 feet of any school.

Instead, Planned Parenthood is paid with our tax dollars to walk into schools and distribute sex offender material!

A kind Twitter follower supplied me with a link to a still-working version of the video.

Nope, it aint available anymore. When are conservatives ever going to learn what we are up against? Document, document document. The left knows that their positions are repugnant. They know that the people working for them and writing, publishing, creating for them are wack jobs. They react quickly when outed and destroy the evidence. Consrvatives need to get rid of the ed morrissey “they are good Americans with a different point of view” stupid attitude. The left is dishonest, manipulative, malicious, bigoted and flat out evil. The leftists in this country are the direct ideological and intellectual descendants of the keepers of the keys in the concentration camps and the gulags. The only way there will not be a revolution in this country is if the conservatives surrender because the left is intent on winning any way they can. Surrender and some day debbie wasserman-scmitt will be prosiding over the tribunal that will send you to the re-education camp. And people, that’s a one way trip.

Sounds like you dream of a society in which the gov determines what is appropriate in regards to education, parenting and the like…
Isn’t that your major complaint about Obama and the dems?
Would a Pres Santorum outlaw all abortion? Make sale of condoms a felony? Dictate dress standards for the masses?
Central control is central control no matter what party you align with. Be good parents is the basic starting point.

Start with a false premise

Isn’t that your major complaint about Obama and the dems?

Good luck finding a quote to substantiate that!

Would a Pres Santorum outlaw all abortion?

The executive branch does not wield that power…so that point is moot.

Make sale of condoms a felony?

What a surprisingly ignorant thing to assert…

Dictate dress standards for the masses?

Only for gammas, they have to wear green…I hate gammas.

Central control is central control no matter what party you align with.

This is an absolute universal maxim, and supremely profound!

Be good parents (sic)is the basic starting point.

Again with profundity!

too many young people have no clue what that really entails except to post meandering missives on the internet about how screwed up everything is….
