Video: The Obama 2012 fashion show!

posted at 9:15 am on February 8, 2012 by Jazz Shaw

If Mitt Romney is the nominee, he’s going to have some big problems in the general election, as we’ve all heard. Not the least of these is the fact that Barack Obama will be painting him as a super rich guy, out of touch with the man on the street. You know… hanging out with the uber-wealthy and blowing huge gobs of cash in ways that Joe Average on Main Street couldn’t even dream of.

In an effort to drive this point home and establish his own credentials as a Man of the People, President Obama has launched a brilliant plan. He’ll hold a huge fashion week event for the ultra rich. The RNC wasted no time in leaping on the opportunity.

Republicans are hammering President Obama for his reelection campaign’s New York City fashion-show fundraiser in a new Web ad debuting Tuesday, arguing the optics of the event are inappropriate while the economy continues to struggle.

The ad opens with shots of the invitation to the event, co-hosted by actress Scarlett Johansson and Vogue editor Anna Wintour. Both have been prominent donors for the president in the past. Subsequent shots of the invitation reveal other big-name attendees, including pop stars Beyonce Knowles and Sean Combs and fashion icons Marc Jacobs, Diane Von Furstenberg and Vera Wang.

Well, well… if that isn’t a list of the real common clay of the Earth voters, I don’t know what is. Check out the RNC ad for yourself below. The snark is almost overwhelming, but it gets the job done.

Silly… only the GOP is condemned for being rich. Wealthy Democrats are praised for sacrificing for the people.

Great story linked from Survival Blog. If you are wondering why you haven’t heard anything about it check out the platform of the Pitchfork Rebellion listed at the bottom of the following snippet. One problem with the ad. It will not resonate with Democrats because it must be read to be understood.

Obama is out of touch. His never ending parties with the 1%, wall street bankers, hollywood elite and multi-millionaire sports stars just don’t resonate with the blue collar working man or the soccer mom. He is out of touch and can’t relate to the problems faced by the middle class.

Sad, really.

No matter what these vapid socialites do, no matter what they say, no matter who they try to influence-

the stark reality is that their guy is in no way the cool, most popular guy in school they thought he was.

Nope, lil’ barry soetero turns out to be the weird kid talking to his imaginary friends and getting picked last for every team on the playground. The strange one, sitting in the corner eating paste and working on the “special” assignments in his very own dumbed down workbook.

President Downgrade’s a geeky buffoon. A completely uncool, unliked dink with smelly breath and goofy ears.

But certainly $90 sweatshirts with that idiot’s face on them will change everything. Really makin’ a difference there, scarlett.

Let’s move!

GrassMudHorsey on February 8, 2012 at 9:45 AM

Who cares. The MSM will never ridicule Obama for this and the general public will never know. It will have no impact on the voters.

Yeah he’s definitely Urkel. LOL But the Liberal elites want their lap dogs to fit stereotypes. If you’re Black you are a “Reverend” like Sharpton or Jackson or a millionaire showman like Spike Lee or Russell Simmons. Of course Spike Lee fits the Urkel steretype too. They pretend to care about the poor and they don’t care about the middle class at all.

I guess Republicans are going to have to start marketing lines of cowboy boots, bow ties, and body wax to attract the likes of those airheads.

What is really funny is that leftists have initiated far far more terrorist acts in America.

And Blacks have committed more crime against whites than the other way around…

Of course it is impolite to say either.

PierreLegrand on February 8, 2012 at 10:02 AM

Frankly, I think they are giving that stuff away.

It looks like they are slumming it. The prices are too low for them to be desirable. They need to add a couple of zeros (pun intended) to all those prices. Scarlet, Anna and friends can afford it and Obama isn’t gonna make it to $1 billion if they don’t give until it hurts or at least stings a little.

Of any group…the Democrats are the least giving to the poor…
when it comes to their own personal assets, and then they cheat on their own taxes so they don’t have to pay…when they make (you) the government programs pay.

Republicans are so out of touch that we don’t even take $3 million dollar vacations. We are the great unwashed, unlike those caring, concerned democrats who buy luxury yachts, condos on the beach, and use the Air Force as our own private airline. Why, we even think religions should be free to exercise their beliefs!

..excellent set of thoughts, GMH! I am wondering if you remember (or are old enough to remember) Tom Wolfe’s essay on Leonard and Felicia Bernstein’s attempt to woo the NYC Black Panthers in Radical Chic?

It came “bundled” with another equally prescient essay with the rather trenchant title Mau-Mauing the Flak-Catchers. The former ridiculed the pathetic attempts by limousine liberals to become politically hip while the latter was a marvelous expose of the world of community organizers.

I commend picking up a copy (used at Amazon) and reading it — if only for the sheer ecstasy of the schadenfreude.

Old enough to have read, young enough not to forget reading it. Also like Wolfe’s skewering of the brainwashing that goes on when people are bullied into “appreciating” modern art.

So called “smart” liberals are funny. In a sad, pathetic way.

I didn’t find the commercial snarky at all, then again I have a high tolerance for snarkiness. Think the fashionista airheads who watch the CW would get this commercial? Or would they all be rushing to get online to order their faves?

This is pathetic.
Everyone knows Obama is also a millionaire, one who hasn’t had any housing, food, or travel expenses for three years.

Romney is certainly the only one who could beat Obama.

Aplombed on February 8, 2012 at 9:45 AM

The media have been covering for Obama since he began running for president. This is part of the reason he’ll be so hard to defeat. They will continue to lie about the economy, the number of jobs created, the impact of Obamacare and more trivial things such as his lavish lifestyle-generally at the taxpayers expense. Unless the voter checks conservative blogs, he will be uninformed or misinformed.
