There are two reasons why liberal-leaning outlets are promoting the idea that the Tea Party is "dead":
1. Those same outlets wanted the OWS mob to be received as a liberal response to the tea party. Now that the OWS folks have evaporated (and crawled back to their parents basements) without achieving anything, they want to have that failure equated with the tea party's current dormancy.
2. Floating this idea initiates discord between serious tea partiers and conservatives of other stripes (which is evidenced by the variety of posts on this item.)

I fully expect that the outrage that prompted the emergence of the tea party in 2010 still exists and will re-emerge as November approaches. This will take care of item #1 above. Let's not fall into the trap of #2, however.

Whenever we see a violation of conservative principles – by anybody, Democrat or Republican – we must strike as hard and as fast as possible. We must not be bound by personal loyalty to candidates, but by loyalty to the principles of our founding fathers. It’s our job to hold our elected officials’ feet to the fire. Milton Friedman once said, “It’s nice to elect the right people but that isn’t the way you solve things. The way you solve things is by making it politically profitable for the wrong people to do the right thing.” That’s our job. And now is the time for us to answer the call.

Um, "strike back" how, exactly? I think if you name yourselves "Minutemen" and don't specify non-violent forms of reaction, you're laying yourself open to misinterpretation.

I say this as a Tea Partier who thinks we are making incremental change as we go along. That's how it's done here, folks. Obama's the one who wants to pivot the whole country in 4 years through threats of violence.

The simple fact that most of the commenters here on this thread have no idea what is taking place with the Tea Party in their own community is very disappointing indeed. I'm involved in the TP in my community; we talk and coordinate with other TP affiliates in Montana. We have little to no knowledge about TP operations in other states, which is the way this movement works and has always worked following the first year when national coverage was available.

If you're not involved in your own local TP, how can you offer anything of substance to this thread...

I disagree. The Tea Party was always a faceless energy that wants to conserve an American government and a way of life. It cannot go forward by hitching up to one of the candidates running. I don’t see how it needs leader to suck the oxygen out of the room (like an Obama) and to let it wither and die once the shine comes off that leader-as it always does.
I've been telling the "national coordinators" of the Tea Party Patriots, and the leaders of any other grass roots conservative group that will listen, that the tea partiers & grass roots conservatives need to "pivot" from "tea partying" into local "political party partying" -- they need to UNITE and ORGANIZE where they can actually achieve control of a political party. They need to invade the Republican Party at the local committee level and become precinct committeemen (PCs). The Republican Party is there for the taking: about half of its estimated 400,000 local precinct committeeman slots are currently vacant.

Per good, old-fashioned basic American civic involvement, which I call The Neighborhood Precinct Committeeman Strategy, conservatives could invade and take over the Republican Party, as precinct committeemen elect the officers of the Party, directly or indirectly, at the local, county, state and RNC levels. The Strategy works: in AZ and other states conservatives have filled up many of the vacant PC slots, created conservative majorities, and are replacing moderates with conservatives in the elected officer ranks.

PCs also are in the BEST position to help Get Out The Vote in their precincts for the best conservative candidates in the all-important, traditionally-very-low-turnout primary elections.

Keep in mind: about half of the PC slots in the Party are vacant and the filled slots are currently split about 50-50 between conservatives and moderates. Do the math. Fill up the 200,000 vacancies with conservatives and instead of a 50-50 split, conservatives would enjoy a 75% majority. Plus, we'd have full-strength, solidly conservative Party where it really matters for GOTV: in the precincts.

As I mentioned before, I'm curious, so I wondered what "It's about Liberty" was, and I was wondering if he was doing internet snooping on you, but then I clicked your name. Okay! So there is no shortage of bitter, angry, immature women. They have to be between 26 and 46, and that is really hard to tie down on the internet. And since the guy is such a jerk, I feel I've spent enough time trying to fix him up!

I disagree. The Tea Party was always a faceless energy that wants to conserve an American government and a way of life. It cannot go forward by hitching up to one of the candidates running. I don't see how it needs leader to suck the oxygen out of the room (like an Obama) and to let it wither and die once the shine comes off that leader-as it always does. The foundations and principles of The Tea Party message transcend any standard bearer.(read- mere mortal)
