Report: Occupy D.C. preparing to crash CPAC
posted at 9:30 pm on February 7, 2012 by Allahpundit
During a Thursday meeting at McPherson Square, until Saturday the epicenter of the protests, Occupiers brainstormed tactics for shutting down or disrupting the conference, according to a source who was present at the meeting.
The protesters suggested pulling fire alarms in the hotel where the conference will take place, screaming “fire” during conference activities, “glitter-bombing” participants, cutting electrical power, and barricading entrances to the hotel, according to the source, who requested anonymity.
“Speakers will be physically assaulted, not just verbally confronted,” the source told Scribe in an email. Two Occupiers, who the source also identified as members of the New Black Panther Party, “said they would be disappointed if they didn’t get arrested and planned to ‘make it count.’”
The source quoted another protester as saying, “Mitt [Romney] has Secret Service now, but [Newt] Gingrich and [Andrew] Breitbart don’t,” seemingly suggesting that the latter two would not be as heavily guarded.
Plans for infiltration allegedly include staying at the hotel as guests with help from the AFL-CIO (the union denies it) and wearing Ron Paul gear on the theory that no one will be able to tell them apart from typical Paul fans. Lest you doubt that they’re capable of “direct action,” watch the two clips below of Occupy D.C. giving Americans for Prosperity the full Walking Dead treatment back in November. There’s already an “Occupy CPAC” message posted on their website, replete with unparodyable denunciations of a “gathering of bigots, media mouthpieces, corrupt politicians and their one percent elite puppet masters” and its “racist, sexist, patriarchal and exploitative agenda.” They have nothing to lose by going on a rampage, really. The image of the “peaceful Occupier” is long gone, thanks to the Oakland chapter and the sporadic stories of rapes and assaults coming out of the camps last year, and even their friends in entertainment are bored with their crap. If they start a brawl at CPAC, that’s a new round of media coverage for them plus endless atta-boys from leftist trolls online. I only wish this had happened a few weeks ago, just so we’d have the perfect ironic juxtaposition between Occupy thugging out and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz once again using the Tucson shootings that the right had nothing to do with as an excuse to demagogue the right over incivility. Ah well.

The problem is even though they supported the surge, Graham and McCain, were obstacles in the interrogation programs that in part led us to Bin Laden, and having been Quadaffi supporters, back around ’09, they turned around and disowned him, and ‘let loose the dogs of war’ in Libya as well,

It’s long past time to bring our troops home from Afghanistan. Our mission there was doomed from the start because Afghanistan was never anything more than a proxy agent for Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Our enemy’s command and control are not based in Afghanistan, Afghanistan is where they chose to fight because they figured it would work to their advantage as it has throughout history. If we are not willing to take the war full force into Pakistan and even Saudi Arabia we are wasting lives and limbs, not to mention treasure, for no useful purpose. It is a political war that serves as a bullet on political resumes and as a pretext to justify welfare for the military industrial complex.

Good evening, Dire! :)
I think so, too. I’ve got some pretty good ideas about who might have been whispering suggestions into that particular dummy’s ear.
thatsafactjack on March 17, 2013 at 11:43 PM
And, in Maher’s case, I mean ‘dummy’ in the sense of a ventriloquist’s dummy… or a puppet.
Although, now that I think of it… the other definition works, too.
thatsafactjack on March 17, 2013 at 11:45 PM
Very similar to Woodrow Wilson’s and Lyndon Baines Johnson’s, not at all like Ronald Reagan’s, in fact, quite the opposite of Ronald Reagan’s.
1. The United States should not commit its forces to military action overseas unless the cause is vital to our national interest.
2. If the decision is made to commit our forces to combat abroad, it must be done with the clear intent and support needed to win. It should not be a halfway or tentative commitment, and there must be clearly defined and realistic objectives.
3. Before we commit our troops to combat, there must be reasonable assurance that the cause we are fighting for and the actions we take will have the support of the American people and Congress.
4. Even after all these other tests are met, our troops should be committed to combat abroad only as a last resort, when no other choice is available.
- Ronald Reagan
With Bush, McCain, Graham, Rubio, and Obama too, it’s like they all read Ronald Reagan’s Foreign Policy Principles as a guide as to what to do the very opposite of. Of course, Obama has thrown in some extras too for “seasoning”

The minute we steamrolled their pitiful standing army, there wasn’t much left to do but send out drones and splat the stragglers, unless you count hosing every last poppy field until it couldn’t grow crab grass.
Afcr@pistan has nothing and never will unless oldschool colonialism makes a comeback, which is not happening for another 100 years if that early. You are absolutely right that the heart of the problem is elsewhere.

McCain, Graham, Bush and Rubio are in the Obama/Wilson/Johnson camp of wanting to use American troops as Human Sacrifices/Lab Rats on the Alter of “Great Islamic Society Nation Building”/COIN/”Muslim Partners In Peace”/”Serving The Muslim People”/”Trillion Dollar Bridges To Nowhere”.
Rand Paul is much closer to Dwight Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan.

The Taliban were the government of Afghanistan – so they pretty much have to fight there if they ever want to hold power again. Al queda, of course, were just “guests” of the Taliban in A-stan. But that’s where they were…so that’s where we had to attack them.
You’re right, though, in that we should never have allowed the Taliban to run to refuge in Pakistan. We should have gone after them – in ‘hot pursuit’, as it were – and told the Paks to stay out of the way unless they wanted some of what we were handing out. (Of course, we should never have let the Afghan army go after them at Tora Bora. We could have finished it there; and turned the caves into their tombs.)

Both of my mother’s parents came directly from Ireland – County Galway – and they married in St. Louis when they landed there in the early part of the 20th century. Alice Quinn. My father’s mother – Eileen O’Savage was directly from County Clare in Ireland. My father’s father was part Irish, part Welsh and a lot of other things. My mother sang at Kiel Opera house when she was young. Her voice could make the hair on your arms stand on end. As a child, The Mighty Clouds of Joy heard her and asked her parents if she could sing with them. No, said my grandmother – music stars are subject to too many temptations. There is a record of her singing “Ave Maria” somewhere that I used to listen to as a kid. She also sang this song – it could make you cry to hear is. This version is close. Happy Saint Patrick’s Day.

We could win Afghanistan if we used our technology to seal the borders with Pakistan, Iran—the entire border— with good enough efficiency, but that would probably mean denuding wide swaths of wilderness all the way around the country and probably kill anybody who tries to cross over. We can try to intercept and detain to the extent we are able to commit resources but if that isn’t sufficient we’ll have to kill anybody that crosses the border.
Additionally we would probably have to go back to old-school rules of engagement.
I’m a hawk on foreign policy, I just think that we have to be smart about it. The neocon interventionist foreign policy was a dismal failure. It wasn’t Iraq and Afghanistan that attacked us on 9/11, if any two nations were responsible it was Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, our so-called friends and allies. The War on Terror was a sham designed to create the appearance that we were fighting our enemies when in fact our biggest enemies were elsewhere. Iraq was an example of “never letting a crisis go to waste” and was a mistake.
If we could still afford it, if the neocons hadn’t so helped the Democrats bankrupt America, and if the time for a violent response after 9/11 weren’t so many years in the past, I wouldn’t be against escalating the war on Terror and going after our enemies in in Muslim countries full force. But the time for that has past. The country really is war weary. Go ahead, neocons, try to convince even your stalwart neocon politicians to promote a REAL War on Terrorism. You’ll find that the will is gone.
And unless we are going to get serious it is not in our national interest to allow neocon politicians to put another bullet-point on their resume and provide welfare to the military industrial complex that buys so many politicians.
And here’s the worst part. Many of these same neocons who are fighting a fake War On Terrorism, funding the military industrial complex, are also promoting the police-state industrial complex back here at home. These neocons have proven a far bigger threat to our freedom and liberty than Al Qaeda could ever hope to be.

But, I’m not there, we have many several generals who are, so I can only think they’re doing the best that they can (or are allowed to).

But the Taliban was created by Pakistan with Saudi oil money.
Another problem I have with the WOT is that, like Iran, Pakistan is also one of the biggest state sponsors of terrorism. The difference is that Pakistan terrorists attack Pakistan and Iran’s attacks Israel. Also, we had an ill advised business relationship with Pakistan and Saudi Arabia but not with Afghanistan and Iraq, so instead of attacking the two nations most responsible for 9/11, our friends, we attacked two nations that really didn’t have much to do with 9/11. Afghanistan was a shell of a nation being used by outside forces.
Even if some might want to argue that the Afghanistan campaign is worthwhile in theory, the fact is that we didn’t fight to win. Very little of our focus after 9/11 was directed at Afghanistan and instead our effort was redirected to Iraq, of all places, that didn’t have anything to do with 9/11. We spent a lot of blood and treasure in Iraq, but in the nations that actually did play huge roles we continued business as usual.

I honestly don’t know why you would include Rubio in your little gang of evil neocon villains since he’s still just a freshman senator who isn’t, insofar as I know, a major voice in American foreign policy–oh, wait: since Rubio’s emerging as Rand Paul’s chief opponent in the 2016 primaries, he must deserve inclusion by taint of association.
If you don’t think Reagan would’ve responded similarly to Bush the younger in similar circumstances, then you’re misreading both history and Reagan. Reagan would’ve invaded Iraq based on the Hussein’s assassination attempt on a former US President alone, and certainly would’ve invaded Afghanistan (or any other country) responsible for training and hosting terrorists responsible for the mass murder of American citizens. The attempted rebuilding of Afghanistan is of a successful American tradition. We helped rebuild both Japan and Germany for extremely valid reasons. The reasoning remains sound, but Afghanistan, unlike Germany and Japan, is a pre-industrial, tribal society, and it is not within our power–or the power of anyone but its own people–to advance its civilization from bronze age to modernity.
Whenever Rand Paul comes up, we should mention–if only in passing–his father. Only Ron Paul, father of Rand Paul and presumably Rand Paul’s formative influence, would appear on Iranian television to decry American ‘meddling’ in Middle Eastern affairs. Ron Paul is, in short, a national disgrace, a deranged bigot who believes evil Jewish Bankers are at the heart of a vast conspiracy to enslave humanity. The senior Paul has ‘starred’ (for lack of a better word) in wacko conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ film extravaganza, ‘Endgame’, which outlines this fantastic theory. So step right up, ladies and gentlemen, and try some of Dr. Ron Paul’s Libertarian Elixir, now with added Thorazine.
Before Rand Paul considers a run for the presidency, he might want to reassure straight-ticket Republican types like me that he isn’t a bizarro crank like his father. As it is, Rand Paul is one degree of separation from crazy, and that isn’t reassuring at all.

Nothing personal but when it comes to trying to figure out what Ronald Reagan would have done, I prefer going by Reagan’s own words, rather than yours as to what Reagan’s principles were, and Reagan’s foreign policy principles were quite clear. He might well have launched attacks in Afcrapistan, but he would never have turned worthless Afcrapistan into anything remotely like our nation’s longest war and would never have used American troops as Human Sacrifices to Islam and Lab Rats in some kind of Mad Hatter’s Sociology Experiment From Hell.
Although this doesn’t describe exactly what it would look like, there once was a man who, as far as the use of our military, believed it should be guided by the following:

Scrumpy on March 18, 2013 at 12:36 AM
The Afghan border could definitely be sealed, IMO, but it would require old-school killing that isn’t politically feasible anymore. And anyway, even if we do seal the border, I’m not saying that’s the only problem. Afghanistan is just a shell of a nation. It was a victim of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia after 9/11, and rebuilding something that has been broken and corrupted so long is no easy task, and I’m not sure it’s particularly in our interests when our enemy’s command and control and ideological inspiration was in Pakistan and elsewhere.
Many of the neocons who are attacking Rand Paul used their influence to invade two nations that had little to do with 9/11 and then instead of moving on they decided to set up show and play house instead of pursuing our enemies wherever they try to hide.
These same neocons have eroded our Constitution and Bill of rights and are attacking our right to due process.
That’s why I stand with Rand, because Rand is right and the neocons are wrong, it’s time to bring our troops home from Afghanistan.

See the article where LTC Daniel L. Davis (who will almost certainly not make full bird now) recently laid bear some of the monumental lies of our army (and Marine) generals, aided and abetted by McCain, Graham and Rubio, about their Operation Enduring Insanity/Trillion Dollar Bridge to Nowhere in Afcrapistan. They are even outdoing Baghdad Bob and should all be in Leavenworth for life for getting so many of their own troops killed and limbless for their lies. Not to mention the pushing a trillion dollar tab for all this.
“What I saw bore no resemblance to rosy official statements by U.S. military leaders about conditions on the ground.” (LTC Davis)
the newest report on Afghanistan embraced the Afghan National Security Force (ANSF) as “professional and effective.”
This by itself tops all of Baghdad Bob’s mendacity combined.
I spent last year in Afghanistan, visiting and talking with U.S. troops and their Afghan partners. My duties with the Army’s Rapid Equipping Force took me into every significant area where our soldiers engage the enemy. Over the course of 12 months, I covered more than 9,000 miles and talked, traveled and patrolled with troops in Kandahar, Kunar, Ghazni, Khost, Paktika, Kunduz, Balkh, Nangarhar and other provinces.
What I saw bore no resemblance to rosy official statements by U.S. military leaders about conditions on the ground.
Entering this deployment, I was sincerely hoping to learn that the claims were true: that conditions in Afghanistan were improving, that the local government and military were progressing toward self-sufficiency. I did not need to witness dramatic improvements to be reassured, but merely hoped to see evidence of positive trends, to see companies or battalions produce even minimal but sustainable progress.
Instead, I witnessed the absence of success on virtually every level.
When it comes to deciding what matters are worth plunging our nation into war and which are not, our senior leaders owe it to the nation and to the uniformed members to be candid — graphically, if necessary — in telling them what’s at stake and how expensive potential success is likely to be. U.S. citizens and their elected representatives can decide if the risk to blood and treasure is worth it.
Likewise when having to decide whether to continue a war, alter its aims or to close off a campaign that cannot be won at an acceptable price, our senior leaders have an obligation to tell Congress and American people the unvarnished truth and let the people decide what course of action to choose. That is the very essence of civilian control of the military. The American people deserve better than what they’ve gotten from their senior uniformed leaders over the last number of years. Simply telling the truth would be a good start.

A lot of the neocons that are attacking Rand Paul, (Andy McCarthy being an exception), are the same idiots that armed Libyan Jihadis and want to do the same in Syria. Worse is that even after their efforts in Libya backfired with repercussions throughout North Africa, they are still calling to arm Syrian Jihadis. They are also sending arms and money to Egypt.
The neocons act like they are the voice of reason and sanity talking down to Rand Paul but in fact it is they that are out on a limb. In fact the American people are tired of all this nation building that we can no longer afford.

I know an NCIS counter-intel specialist who was sent to Afghanistan. While he obviously can’t be very specific, he was very close-mouthed when he returned. He did finally tell me that he was staggered by magnitude of the disaster, and he just didn’t want to talk about it because he was too disturbed.
This guy is as regular and reliable as the come. Marine, MP, decorated in service and in the NCIS.
It isn’t good.

And hello everyone. Don’t know how long I’ll be around tonight, two long days in a row (fishing, don’t cry for me) and I’m beat.
novaculus on March 18, 2013 at 1:04 AM
I’m sorry to be late. I didn’t mean to appear rude. I was called away.
Yes. That’s a remarkable story and a lovely tune, too. I hope you find the recording. What a wonderful memory. Thank’s for sharing it with us. :)

I listened to that version and it was beautiful; what a voice.
Your story too was also very interesting. So nice that you know some of your family history. I wish you success in finding the “Ave Maria” recording.
Even tho it’s after midnight, I wish you a Happy St. Patrick’s Day anyway and hope you enjoyed it.

The “Neocons” and their Generals are now very much like the Aztec High Priests of many centuries ago. The main difference, and it’s a relatively small one, is that instead of continually sacrificing what they regarded as their excess and disposable human property to the Sun God to try to gain benevolence and avoid wrath, the “Neocons”and their Generals keep trying to sacrifice America’s Constitution, and do sacrifice more and more of the lives and limbs of America’s troops, whom they regard as their excess and disposable human property, as well as hundreds of billions of dollars of America’s rapidly shrinking treasure, which although itself is of much lesser importance is still no small matter, to the gods they reverently call “The Prophet Mohammad”, “The Holy Qur’an” and “The Noble People Of Afghanistan and their Noble Muslim Culture” to try to gain benevolence and avoid wrath, and maybe even get an extra TV appearance for the “Neocons” and an extra star and another few assorted colorful baubles for which to adorn themselves for their generals.
Is our military fighting for anything most Americans would regard as at all decent in Afghanistan? Certainly not our Army, nor our Marines. The “Neocons” and their Generals have repeatedly ordered them to respect the gods they call “The Prophet Mohammad”, “The Holy Qur’an” and “The Noble People Of Afghanistan and their Noble Muslim Culture” and if American troops get shot to death by what the “Neocons” and their Generals call their Partners in Peace, then the “Neocons” and Generals conclude that America’s derelict and sacrilegious troops must not have respected the gods they call “The Prophet Mohammad”, “The Holy Qur’an” and “The Noble People Of Afghanistan and their Noble Muslim Culture” nearly enough and order them to take still more religious and cultural “sensitivity” training so they can better respect the Noble Muslim Culture of the Noble People of Afghanistan, maybe even enough where they can start joining in the practicing of that Noble Muslim Culture themselves, which would no doubt delight the “Neocons” and their Generals to no end.
There of course is never any “sensitivity” training ever even recommended for what the “Neocons” and their Generals call “The Noble People Of Afghanistan” so they might better understand and appreciate Western and American culture, the great superiority of which should be self-evident. But then as the “Neocons” and their Generals clearly must regard the Noble Muslim Culture of the Noble People of Afghanistan as being far superior to Western and American culture, they would surely regard any such thing as, well, absolutely unthinkable, and blasphemous, and upon hearing any such suggestion would no doubt order even more “sensitivity” training.
* Mainstream Noble People of Afghanistan Muslim Culture includes child rape of both young girls and young boys, torturing dogs including puppies, total enslavement of women, stoning women to death for being raped, and death to apostates, which itself covers a whole lot, just to very briefly mention a few of the highlights.

Presently targeting crappies (mostly),wipers and largemouth. Conditions are challenging but you can make some nice catches and the crappie taste so good fresh out of the ice cold water.

I guess we’ll all have to pitch in:-) Hope we don’t have to repaint! We’ll have to cover your lovely chair if we do. Fallon is decorating and when she hears about this, we may not get any more coffee or Irish bread. I shouldn’t have mentioned food, now I’m getting hungry:-)

Here’s another thing I’ve noticed about a lot of neocon politicians, they tend to ardently support amnesty for illegal aliens, something that is harmful to the country and to the political viability of their own party, yet they support anyway. They don’t simply support it, in fact it’s one of the only things that actually animates them and they are willing to dedicate so much “bi-partisan” energy toward. This in spite of the fact that it is so harmful to the nation and only benefits the cronies that all the despicable lobbyists represent. If instead these neocon RINO’s expended half as much effort on Americas’ very real problems we wouldn’t be in such dire straights. But no, those issues aren’t very important at all to them, they only seem to care about serving their crony masters.
