FBI on top of that whole radical right wing extremist thing

posted at 8:40 am on February 7, 2012 by Jazz Shaw

Rest safely, citizens! The FBI has got your back and will protect you against the radical, extremist, violent tendencies of … citizens? You right wing radicals must be at it again, at least in the eyes of some FBI officers at a recent press briefing.

Anti-government extremists opposed to taxes and regulations pose a growing threat to local law enforcement officers in the United States, the FBI warned on Monday.

These extremists, sometimes known as “sovereign citizens,” believe they can live outside any type of government authority, FBI agents said at a news conference.

The extremists may refuse to pay taxes, defy government environmental regulations and believe the United States went bankrupt by going off the gold standard.

Routine encounters with police can turn violent “at the drop of a hat,” said Stuart McArthur, deputy assistant director in the FBI’s counterterrorism division.

Let’s see… people who are unhappy about tax policy, are opposed to excessive environmental regulations.. sound like anyone you know? That final one, though – identifying people who wish to return to the gold standard – seems to be a particularly focused shot at Ron Paul’s followers, particularly given all the headlines he’s getting as a presidential candidate.

Dave Nalle casts a jaundiced eye at the specific warnings.

Citing three specific cases in three years and a trend of an increase in arrests of believers in individual sovereignty from 10 to 18 cases per year, mostly for non-violent crimes, the FBI declared law enforcement to be “inundated” with threats.

This may be the most exaggerated and offensive example of specious fearmongering to come out of an administration which has been promoting irrational fear of generally harmless groups of citizens for three years. The FBI is taking aim at a huge body of citizens who are increasingly angry about government abuse of power and irresponsibility and attempting to turn them into a movement of dangerous potential terrorists.

The agency really needs to give us a bit more to go on here, as Nalle points out. With this “rise of incidents” they manage to cite two men in Arkansas and one in Texas who engaged in gunfights with the police during traffic stops. The rest of the “increase” in cases are, by their own admission, complaints filed against white collar criminals engaged in fraud and/or tax evasion.

When it comes to violence, I think we can all remain firmly on the side of the FBI. If there are any more violent kooks out there building bombs for home use, I certainly want them found. As for the three men noted in the report, if you happen to be the type of person who reacts to a traffic stop by whipping out a gun, the odds are pretty good that you’ve got bigger issues to deal with and are likely several french fries short of a Happy Meal.

One closing thought for you to ponder. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen these reports, and it doubtless won’t be the last. But … is it just me, here, or do they seem to mostly pop up during election years when there’s a Democrat in the White House? Hey… I’m just asking here. No need to send the ATFE over to my private gun range or anything.

I don’t think this is good news for Republican yard signs and bumper stickers this year. Back in 2008 we were vandalized several times for having McCain/Palin signs. This year we might be subjected to an FBI raid. LOL!

This will backfire right into Bozo’s face.

There are some real nutjob rightwing groups with heavy antigovernment beliefs (to the point of espousing essential anarchy) and they are dangerous. But they aren’t as dangerous as some gorups the administration is downplaying as a danger.

Same old song and dance was in the news back during the Clinton years.

Only this time we’ve got the Tea Party to help fill in these imaginary “terrorist ranks”.

Meanwhile, the OWS/Anonymous crowd make for the perfect house guests. Go figure.

I remember back in 2004 when my old car got heavily ‘keyed’ and the paint job was vandalized by some Right Wing Extremist(s) using a screw driver or pocket knife who concentrated most of their vandalism (and their pathological anger) to my vehicle on and around the BUSH/CHENEY 2004 bumper sticker on the right-rear that was shredded. The back and forth along the entire passenger-side was a nice finishing touch. So much for mall parking lot security.

Those gosh darn Right Wing Extremists! Curses!

Just another attempt by the liberal socialist progressive administration to label all non communists as enemies of the state worthy of extermination.

Anyone that votes for Obama approves of the concentration camps and ovens used during the WW2 era, and approves of every anti American action taken overseas in the last 70 years.

Sovereign Citizens are indeed a threat. Mostly to local law enforcement. These folks drive around with special tags and drivers licenses that they have either made or bought through other sovereign citizen groups. They are stopped by Officers/Deputies for the tags on their cars and when asked to present a drivers license they will give the fake license and tell the officer that they are not bound by the U.S. Constitution.
Please do not mistake these folks as a normal group who are displeased with paying taxes or upset with the current political landscape. These people are very radical and are very violent.
I know a lot of people associated with Militia’s and other 2nd Amendment groups and the Sovereign Citizens are not even close to that. They are true enemies of the Constitution.
Most of the Sovereign Citizens I have seen are Black but most are White. Jerry and Joseph Kane are the most notorious.

Every society has had “tipping points” in their history. In the future, when historians sit around debating the exact time when the United States began to fall apart, the time when we reached our tipping point, the time when we became so egregiously flawed in our ability to govern ourselves, when hundreds of millions of people reached such an overwhelming level of apathy and ignorance and fell, lifeless, brain-dead and subservient to 545 liars, thieves, narcissists and opportunists, many will undoubtedly see the administration of Barack Obama as the straw that broke our back.

The Gestapo, The KGB and The Stasi were all their respective nations official Law Enforcement Agencies. They had million to tens of millions of loyal outspoken supporters in their respective nations, individuals who believed that they were genuinely protecting their nations and the citizens of their nations. Just as we have here, individuals who will always side with the official government law enforcement agencies, regardless of what the government or those law enforcement agencies do.

Absolutely spot on. “News” like this is simply a manufactured distraction. An attempt to suppress the independents/moderates from voting with those “crazy small government types” for the GOP. The ATF/FBI are now officially an arm of the Committee to Re-Elect Obama.

This is all a prelude to Plan B, in the off chance Obama loses. It will be essential to round up anyone who might be tempted to challenge his Executive Order declaring the election void for fraud.

Not at all. As an agency, they are required to look at the facts, evaluate the threats and act accordingly to enforce the law. Is that difficult? Not really.

The links you provided will most likely be looked over as being nothing more than right-wing paranoia. We will see as time goes on and people get arrested for the nearest nothing BS (tax evasion charge for forgetting that $100 bill mom gave you) while the lefties destroy public and private property, as well as our country.

The only people who are “happy” with tax policy are people who don’t pay taxes. And the only people who are “happy” with the most recent ten thousand pages of government regulations are people who don’t run a business.

unclesmrgol on February 7, 2012 at 10:44 AM

They aren’t. In the OWS ‘movement’ and the masses of protesters whenever there are ‘Group of X’ meetings, we see the face of the modern anarchism. It’s also a part of the Progs’ Cloward-Piven plan. They are unhappy with democratics’ slow movement in the direction of socialism, and see collapse as a shorter path.

Ditto for the long history of the anarchist movement in Europe and America in the early part of the 20th Century.

Did anyone else instantly think of Dick Morris and his Ricochet Theory during Clinton’s term?

Later, under the heading “How to use extremism as issue against Republicans,” Morris told Clinton that “direct accusations” of extremism wouldn’t work because the Republicans were not, in fact, extremists. Rather, Morris recommended what he called the “ricochet theory.” Clinton would “stimulate national concern over extremism and terror,” and then, “when issue is at top of national agenda, suspicion naturally gravitates to Republicans.” As that happened, Morris recommended, Clinton would use his executive authority to impose “intrusive” measures against so-called extremist groups. Clinton would explain that such intrusive measures were necessary to prevent future violence, knowing that his actions would, Morris wrote, “provoke outrage by extremist groups who will write their local Republican congressmen.” Then, if members of Congress complained, that would “link right-wing of the party to extremist groups.” The net effect, Morris concluded, would be “self-inflicted linkage between [GOP] and extremists.”

Logboy on February 7, 2012 at 12:09 PM

After George W. Bush called law abiding citizens “vigilantes” for demanding that the Federal government secure our US Borders from illegal trafficking of human slaves, illicit drugs and crime, “that whole radical right wing extremist thing” never was halted by the 2010 election results demanding a stop to federal abuses of power.

These extremists, sometimes known as “sovereign citizens,”

If I didn’t know better, I’d think this was satire.

Janet Napolitano’s initial Memo targeted conservatives as a radical threat. Obama’s initial DHS Open Letter to all county sheriffs targeted any use of the word “sovereign” as a radical threat.

Wrap it up with NDAA codifying as law the unconstitutional federal detention of any American citizen who expresses disapproval of authoritarian governance or presumes to have a Bill of Rights.

When it comes to violence, I think we can all remain firmly on the side of the FBI.

Given that the FBI enables if not advances federal authoritarian policies and operations including Fast and Furious, thinking firmly on quicksand won’t keep you afloat.

This whole thing reeks of Stalinism (which persisted after Stalin, he’s just the great man whose name is on the practice).

Manufactured “briefs” against members of the public whose political opinions differ from those of the ruling cabal. Law enforcement issuing portentous descriptions of “patterns” backed up by no actual onslaught of criminal behavior. The media slavishly repeating whatever law enforcement says about these evil “miscreants.” A noir-ish unease about these dreadful terrorists being urged on the populace.

The gold standard is more frightening to politicians on both sides than people with guns. They know only crazy people and criminals are a threat to society, but a gold standard would be a real limit to their power to create money. It would limit the growth of govt. to the real growth of the economy. The ability to throw numbers unadjusted and adjusted for inflation around mixed together but not identified would be largely lost.

A certain percentage of our entire population are crazies and/or idiots. Grow a group (any group) to large enough numbers and the % of idiots shows through by more individuals coming up on the radar for their actions, just how it is. To use those token few % of people to negatively judge the entire group makes you a bigot. I guess it does make good news though.
