Having been born in East Chicago, lived in Hammond, and worked in Gary, I’ll believe it when I see it. For those not familiar with the area, northern Lake County is deep blue and even deeper in the unions’ pockets. While I don’t think the mayors have the authority to override right-to-work at the local level, they might try until being forced to do otherwise in court.

More likely is a group of local mayors will gather together and hold a press conference in which they announce new anti-business “emergency proposals to protect the rights of Northwest Indiana working families after they have been hung out to dry by Gov. Daniels and the Republicans.”

“Well now that Donald Trump’s spoken, I guess it’s over anyway right?”

That type of wit is under-appreciated by alot of folks.

Every time something like this comes up I wonder how much of a kickback Boeing got when they chose Chicago over Texas.

Yep, that was a bizarre move.

What a sorry state of affairs – our first black president, a bombastic historian who likes to pick fights with the media, a tall guy with great hair – not a one of them actually presidential material and that is what we have to choose from.

When we ask why there are no conservatives to pick from (Paul isn’t one) – just remember we get what we deserve. I have decided that our real problems come from the big networks news divisions. FOX is not innocent in this either.

The little town I live in, and the smallish ones within reach lost 2-3 auto plants a few years ago. I think one Ford, and one GM, plus one for School Busses (Bluebird? I could be wrong.)

There’s a lot of people down here right now scraping by on their personal farms or getting a bit of living money out of trade and craft skills (myself), that have started small Farmers’ markets to aid local economy.

We could use some regular work moving in.

I always liked Mitch. He’s Scott Walker tough.

Speaking as a Wisconsinite, that is high praise indeed–and I fully agree with that assessment!

However, I must say that I used to travel the state for work and
towns were few and far between and small in population. Many
companies in Chicago have already moved to the northwest portion
of Indiana. Just a stone’s throw from Chicago.

I really liked the people; lots of small manufacturers trying to
make a living. Hopefully, the right to work bill will improve
manufacturing jobs. Although I have seen, since the 80′s when
we were importing everything from Taiwan (now China), manufacturing plants closing all over the country. I am unsure
if they can ever come back.

There are, however, laws against brandishing and armed intimidation. Say you get in an argument with a guy. Things get heated. To settle the argument, you make a point of indicating or emphasizing your possession of a firearm. That’s a crime.

Rightly so. “I have a gun.” Isn’t a way to win an argument, it’s a douche move for people who just want to be known for having a gun.

I live in Indiana, Daniels has got cred with me. All my liberal friends hate him and think RTW is the worst thing that could happen to any employee anywhere. That tells me he’s on the right track.

My state MI should of done this years ago but with Jennifer as Gov no chance Same now with our RINO Rick

Unfortunately, I have to agree with you on this one. Rumor has it that Snyder is “working quietly, behind the scenes” to push RTW forward, but all I can say is I’ll believe it when I see it signed into law.

One thing he has done is to somehow affect the trend in challenging unemployment claims. Under Granholm no employer could win one. Ever. It seems that trend has reversed and now the unemployment specialists are challenging every single claim and winning on most of them. I got this info from a small business-owner and I sure hope it’s not just a one-off. If it’s a start to a push for RTW, then good. Not holding my breath, though.

With a record like disbanding public unions, a balanced budget, expanding school choice, and getting right to work legislation, why would anyone want this candy-arse RINO running in a federal election

Everyone just bitched and moaned about that whole “truce” comment blowing it completely out of proportion to make it seem like he was pro-choice, heaven forbid we were to make this election about Obama’s record as a failure in chief of the economy…some people are just plain deaf to obvious election strategies.

It would not shock me if The Regime sues Indiana and gets some leftist judge to strink their right to work law down.

Obama is that in bed with the unions, and Holder is that sleazy.

It’s a shame because Daniels is needed right now. I have no doubt the guy would turn the US economy around in a 180 like Reagan did in the 80′s.

An even bigger shame is the size of the egos of Newt and Mitt combined. I’ve seen Mitch speak only once, but he struck me instantly as someone who’s firmly grounded in their principles without loving the mere sound of their own voice. Mitch is an well-needed antidote to the ticket, regardless of who end up as the nominee.

Quite plausible. My how the Democratic party has fallen. In the 1960′s they gave us Bobby Kennedy who prosecuted criminals among the union leadership.

Since 2008 the criminals once prosecuted seem to have friends at the AG’s office.

If Mitch Daniels still got high, I’d roll a fat one for him.

Whatever.

People don’t like that he is boring as hell. You don’t win elections by putting people to sleep. Like it or not in media world we live in, a guy like Mitch Daniels does not get elected president. People don’t tend to vote for the guy who looks and sounds like their insurance agent to the White House. Sorry.

BTW – Indiana House Democrats really suck and gave their brand a bad name with their walkouts last year and refusal to show-up this year. Good for Indiana, Good for Mitch Daniels, Good for all Hoosiers!

Every state needs to pass a “fleebagger” law which would:

1. Foreifit the pay of any legislator for TWICE the number of days they fail to show up to a session.
2. Exclude “fleebagger” legislators from counting against quorum if they fail to show up for a vote that 48 hours notice is given for during a session.

Ultimately, I think “fleebaggers” should have their seats declared vacant. If their districts insist on voting for people who won’t show up then they don’t deserve representation.

Why would they be calling the gov unless they were looking for some type of gov’t giveaway?

Exactly. Daniels doesn’t exactly speak with a lot of pizzazz, but he pretty much destroyed Obama’s hour and a half SOTU speech in about 10 minutes.

Tru dat…His public speaking is to the point, and I agree with most of his positions, but yeah, he doesn’t exactly command attention with his speaking abilities.
