Video: “Game Change,” the full-length trailer

posted at 8:24 pm on January 31, 2012 by Allahpundit

Everything I said when I posted the teaser last month still holds. I’m not seeing Woody Harrelson as slick Beltway insider Steve Schmidt and I’m not seeing The One at all — literally. Wasn’t this book mainly about his big victory? Evidently there’s more drama in Sarah Palin complaining about her wardrobe than in the election of the first black president. That’s an … interesting judgment, HBO.

Makes sense, though. They can’t revisit the early euphoria of Hopenchange now lest it depress the hell out of disillusioned Democrats, so instead here’s two hours of the left’s eternal hate object melting down. I’ll give them this much — Julianne Moore looks remarkably like Palin in some of these scenes. Harrelson is a bust, Ed Harris as McCain is a bust, but I did a double take in the shot of her at the state fair and then in the Charlie Gibson interview. Emmys all around for the make-up people.

Great! A movie built entirely on a media demonized charicature rather than truth.

Hollywood’s main product is media demonized charicature.

We just keep taking the crap because the people that stand up like Sarah Palin are betrayed by the enemies and cowards from within. That is why we are losing our country. The typical Romneybot has their heads so far up their asses that they don’t even know what they have become. If you are not on the side of Sarah Palin then you are not on the right side in this war for America, which we are losing!

There’s none so blind as those who will not see. Palin was a talentless, intellectually-challenged hack made famous by being thrust into the limelight as an election gimmick by a RINO candidate who wanted to play the gender card. That’s it. Until that time, none of these people who adore her had EVER heard of her. But from that simple desperate act of McCain, she inherited a cult-like following that will take years to finally die off.

Why are we still one country? The people who have such hatred for Palin don’t even know why. I know why I have utter antipathy for PBHO. When do we the red states acknowledge we have irreconcilable differences and split from the Left Coast, the Northeast and the Upper Midwest?

Let’s let them have their socialism and 1984-style hate pieces. We will have a civil discourse among rational people (Fox News talkers will have to tone it down or be gone), and the blue states filled with reds (aka the People’s Republic of America) will have to come crawling back to the true USofA.

AMC’s their only real competitor that way, and Showtime is barely keeping up.

That’s what’s fascinating. Read the book if you haven’t. McCain’s camp was beyond incompetent. They (and McCain himself) felt their only hope was a “game changer” VP. Lieberman was who McCain wanted. But guess when Schmidt et. al. figured out that was a bad idea? About a week or two before the convention. … even though they sewed up the nomination many months before Obama sewed up the Dem one. They didn’t even have time to vet her– they just winged it. (And no, I don’t mean “vet” in the lib way– I mean it in the most basic way; they didn’t even have a chance to get to know her. They basically just looked at her governor’s website and called her… then were surprised when they didn’t gel. Like I said: plenty of blame to go around.)

Would that Trump, or Breitbart, or Rush, or Sannity fund a docudumpdrama about Fast and Furious, the President and his racist Attorney General running guns to Mexico, to subjugate We The People to the abolishing of our second amendment rights, with a little Black Panther nightstick polling patrolling and a little suing of sovereign states trying to protect their citizens and their borders.
Maybe throw in a chapter about some illegal undeclared wars and the outright assassination of an American citizen with a half a million dollar missile sans trial.
Add a brief trailer on how to pay off Wons bundlers by issuing billion dollar contracts for fake energy companies and the big thankyous to Union campaign financiers by handing whole companies over to the unions and negating secured creditors claims.

The whole Rammification of a death panel bill would need to be Docudumpdrama II, as to detail the underhanded, double dealing and payoffs, buyouts and intimidations would take a show of its own to document.
Maybe have docudumpdrama I air about mid Sept followed by II about mid Oct 2012.
The right just doesn’t know how to play to win!

Lets get one thing clear, Sarah Palin’s “fame” is not the result of something which she did out of order. Much and to a large extent it has come about because of the undue hatred leveled upon her.

Had all the haters left her be, she’s be back in Alaska running things and no one would have heard much from her.

And to those on the Right who loath, while echoing Leftist memes. Do you really think they Liberals hate her because they “just want you to pick a ‘smarter’ candidate’” which seems to be the subtext? Their hate, which you very often echo, is actually not in your own best interest ideologically speaking.

They hate because as one Liberal put it Sarah Palin is an existential threat to what they stand for.

Bishop on January 31, 2012 at 9:07 PM

Probably should let it go,.. but I’m sick to death of the moronic view that being an actual communist in Hollywood, was as harmless as being in the Rotary Club… damn that meanie for destroying good people..

I was in the last years of the cold war,.. The Soviets our self declared enemy, and American communists, were and are as utterly dishonorable and traitorous as Americans who were Nazi Party members in 1941, and Americans who join al qaeda are enemies of the country.

YOU CAN’T have been a Stalinist in 1955 and been a loyal American, not when you slipped propaganda into films as they did, and still do. Screw Ed Harris for being an idiot, who buttkisses the absurd idea, those people were wronged..

To be a communist, is to be America’s enemy, and my enemy, Reagan had that view, John Wayne, as well as JFK and Bobby Kennedy who served time on anti-communist duties while in Congress.

Only now, in the aftermath, in the safety of a noncommunist country, can people delude themselves into thinking that Hollywood communists were as harmless as their kids hamster.

The struggle left millions dead in the world, tens of thousands of America, how many suffered because of communism, and it’s imperialist aims?

but that’s just mean right?

Enough, the Rosenburgs gave Stalin the bomb, but American communists were just living their principles… They gave up intell to the KGB, The Stazi, the Warsaw Pact agencies,.. but they were just miss understood…

You know what?

Piss on Harris, his wife, his dog, his daddy’s ghost and his leanage going back to the middle ages.. He’s pissed off, the communists weren’t handled like heroes,.. and the brave guy who spoke out is the villan? Horace has his head up his ass..

They gave aid to our enemy, gave comfort to theat enemies quislings.. they should all have been shot for treason. But Hell, the left just lauds them as heroes… Do you defenders of those harmless bolsheviks know how close we were to WW III in 81 when Reagan was shot?

any idea?

DEFCON 4, higher than during the 62 missile crisis, and some of us, sweated out that night guarded nuclear missile silos.. ground zero for an SS-18.

You tell me he turned in communists, I like that as much as if he were handing over Taliban.. they were the enemy.

and still are.

The topic is Palin. Title it anything you like, but it is about Palin. And since Palin acquired her notoriety and following strictly from being the VP candidate, and for no other reason, it is an appropriate subject to explore. Who cares if it was 30 years ago because as long as Palin puts herself in the news, her reason for being on the ticket as VP and her conservatism usefullness then and now and her political future is open for discussion.

Do I think about it often? No, only when she interjects herself into a campaign in which she is not a candidate. Then I think about why she allowed herself to be used to help a flaming RINO commit fraud against conservatives.

The New York Yankees have fans. Sarah Palin has supporters. When Sarah Palin decided to stand up to the establishment, you couldn’t handle it, right? When she wrote 2 Best Sellers, Wrote numerous facebook posts, tweets, supported great conservatives, and stood up to Obama and the media. I guess you didn’t like that. Sarah Palin and Beck did more to bring Obama down in the polls than anybody. That is a fact. Sarah Palin was right about Death Panels and the Stimulus and cowards like you lack the courage to stand up for her. In fact you trash her. I have seen your posts on Palin. They are snarky and stupid, just like you. Sarah Palin was so effective against the left that she is the ultimate object of their attacks. She is a fighter and should be running.Palin would run the race that needs to be run and fight the fight that needs to be fought.

CoolChange80 on January 31, 2012 at 10:09 PM

The saddest thing about the entire “Sarah Palin” thing is that it inflames people to such levels of reaction. Some really do idolize her as if she were he second coming of Reagan. Far too many others expend incredible amounts of energy analyzing every word and act she makes for the sake of ridicule and vilification. The pillory of this woman is absolutely obscene.

She’s just another damned politician. She has some good points and some not so good. Do what you’re supposed to do as adults and distill what lessons she has to teach from them. If she has enough positives, elect her; if not, ignore her and move on. But this obsession with mockery is positively fetishitic.

She’s just a person with some ideas. She didn’t kill anybody and she’s not hurting anyone. Relax.

I’m voting for Santorum so far, if it matters to the conversation.

I can’t wait to see the sequel when McCain and a group of elite rogue soldiers take tourists hostage at alcatraz. Romney believing that McCain brainwashed him and is giving him classified orders is terrorized by different versions of himself that only he can see. McCain also finds the time to coach a foreign policy retard Herman Cain how to speak on foreign policy without embarrassing himself in public with some minor setbacks. Then the movie goes eight years into the future when he serves as Wal Mart Spaceflight Director for the historic flight that began construction of Newt Gingrich’s moon colony.

Sarah Palin didn’t lose by 18 points in Pennsylvania and you have the nerve to call her “just another damned politician”. You are a fool!

CoolChange80 on January 31, 2012 at 10:15 PM

Another Hollywood movie aimed at turning an election, going after the one normal conservative to pop up in politics in years. I care less than a damn if some hate Sarah, she inspired me, my wife, (a democrat) and my under voting age daughter..

She has the talent of being able to let conservatives feel hope that we will prevail in the end. That is not a trivial thing, despite the snark of self appointed snobs who hate her accent, as if it were classy to mock it. Most Americans don’t talk like English majors from Yale or Harvard…

so what.. the same folks mock southerners for the way they speak too, behind closed doors.. afraid to let their bigoted hair down in public like they used too.

OMG.. she said “you betcha”!…… somebody call the Websters English Dictionary police…

she must be dumb right?/s

how else can people so miserable about their lack of aclaim feel better if they can’t mock a woman who achieved more in a couple of years than they have in an entire life….

Hate her if you must, just don’t think it makes you clever to ape leftwing talking points, it just makes you look petty.

Um, i subscribed for years until i could choose what i want to watch, when i want to watch through other services. People aren’t going to keep paying extra for “original” programing that’s nothing more than what they can get for free on the networks or what they’re already paying for on channels like AMC which comes standard on most cable and satellite bundles. They were smart to do the original programming when it became clear that movies weren’t the way to go anymore, but that won’t last forever, there’s going to be too many ways to get content for $14 a month or so.

I read crap like you just wrote and wonder how someone like you arrives at conservatism. You’re willing to break the law to support the fact that you’re a cheapskate. You’re willing to wait around for handouts instead of funding your own entertainment.

Then I think about why she allowed herself to be used to help a flaming RINO commit fraud against conservatives.

they lie on January 31, 2012 at 10:07 PM

No, the topic is the movie. I would think even people who hate Palin with the burning intensity of a thousand suns would at least take time off from feeding off the hate to condemn a movie which was obviously made to trash a Republican VP nominee.

Since some people can’t seem to do that for a minute or two, we end up with a thread consisting of “I hate Palin” and “I love Palin”.

I don’t know my guess is the republican establishment would pretty much do what they are doing to Newt Gingrich now and maybe worse. She didn’t want to put her family through that kind of hell and walk away from her Fox gig plus 2 of her children are very young and she lives so far in Alaska. She will let the establishment lose big 2012 and fight for 2016. Palin said she want the process to continue, she said that for our benefit and her benefit as well. She has now unmasked all in the GOP which will be helpful come 2012 or 2016. Possibly 2012. More likely 2016.

The saddest thing about the entire “Sarah Palin” thing is that it inflames people to such levels of reaction.
Texan on January 31, 2012 at 10:10 PM

And there’s a reason why. Which transcends Sarah Palin, herself.

I mean I can only speak for myself, but when I see the raw hatred still, still direct at her even after Sarah Palin chose not to run, doing the very thing her detractors claimed they wanted of her. That clues me in that maybe this hate is for reasons that have little to do with their supposed evaluation of her intellect and tells me, they are actually afraid of what she stands for. And in my world that undo hatred demands push back, if not a good stomping on. Worse when it comes from the Right.

In fact I can get over the Lefts hatred on Sarah Palin. Its par for the course, and part of the game. Yet I will never be forgiving of the Rights hatred directed at her, or what it would let stand without challenge when being lobbed from the Liberals.

Because the hatred/anger seems to be boiled down to the simple crime that an entity called “Sarah Palin” dares to exist in their world.

The crazed hatred for her is irrational. If you are a conservative you should be cheering her. Sarah Palin should have run and should have left McCain to die in the Arizona Senate primary. McCain should have stood for her after the campaign against the lies of the Romney people and Wallace and Schmidt. He sat cowardly and is not worthy of respect. Sarah Palin is however. Palin one of the most honorable people around. She helped tame the Tea Party and harness it into a force for good and what did it get her. There is one person that could unite the Anti-Romney vote and that is Sarah Palin. She would have Newt and Santorum’s vote plus large share of the Conservative women. Pretty sure she wouldn’t have lost conservative republican women by 2 to 1 against Romney considering she was the top choice among republican in most primary primary polls especially without Huckabee.

For the Steve Schmidts of the world, I didn’t vote for John McCain, I voted for Sarah Palin, who just happened to be the number 2 on the ticket.

If Romney is the nominee of the party, and I hope he’s not, and he runs the same campaign as McCain, without a Sarah Palin, he will lose, in spite of the fact that Obama has done everything wrong since he was elected.

Palin was never the problem, it was McCain. Had they kept her away from interviews until she was up to speed (and no one denies there had to be a learning curve between a national campaign and being governor of Alaska) things would have been different, however the result would have been the same. The fact is, the campaign just threw her to the wolves and then, when they threw stupid questions at her, (Do you support the “Bush Doctrine”? What the hell kind of question is that? While they’re asking the #1 on the Democrat side if he wished his mother had lived to see him running for President. Give me a break!!!

Does she really have a rent free space in your head so painful, it begs for a response?

That’s the single most irrational, over the top emotional response I’ve heard yet. Read what you write about her..

and we’re just supposed to sit back and say nothing

You aren’t being personally attacked by her, so why the hate? You are coming across as if she has personally offended and insulted you.. and when exactly, did she post about you that has so enraged you, that she can’t utter a word, and your type of Palin hater has to go all apeshit about it?

That is how you look..

like she had questioned your parentage..

She clearly isn’t stupid, no one gets as far as she did by being stupid. Even liberals who have met her, discribe her as quick, and extremely sharp.. and since you haven’t met her and spoken at length.. you can judge her unfit?

For people who are so invested in their intellectual superiority over Sarah,.. this like most is an entirely emotional response, unworthy, because it’s personal, and you can’t move anyone by screaming I hate her over and over…

mark81150 on January 31, 2012 at 10:50 PM

The Palin “hate” syndrome is a result of a psychological phenomenon known as cognitive dissonance. Her mere existence violates deeply held beliefs of the sufferers regarding all sorts of things. She is living breathing proof that things they have come to believe and are emotionally invested in are lies. So they must do all they intellectually can do to dismiss, mock, ridicule, etc. her so she no longer counts to them and preferably everyone else. Fortunately it is a task destined to fail as she has this (to them) annoying habit of repeatedly proving their lies to be wrong. But that doesn’t stop them, it just creates more cognitive dissonance in them so they must invent new reasons to dismiss her. And on and on it goes. If they could cause her to cease to exist and her sayings and deeds be erased from the public consciousness, only then would they feel relief. But since that can’t happen they are doomed to continue to grasp at straws in their attempts to marginalize her, while she continues to live free and prosper and drive them nuts.

That makes as much sense as anything I’ve heard yet.. Sarah can so inspire, she single handedly inspired my daughter, 12, soon to be 13, to get interested in politics.. My little girl even chose her glasses to get ones like Sarah has.. and came home in tears in 08 when a teacher ridiculed her for wanting to be like Sarah, telling her, she should “stop wanting to be stupid”…

How do you respod to that?

So invested in a worldview that bright, pretty, go getting self starting over achieving women, must, must must… share the politics of the hater, else they go into a full meltdown. Sarah can’t be a conservative,.. nu uuhhh,.. nope, she has to be a liberal, or liberal leaning, or their narrative about self hating mousey female conservatives looks hollow. They have a strawoman in their mind that forms their internal narrative.

and they will not let go of that.

Sarah can’t be a conservative woman, and a hero… not permitted.. not allowed, not configured to work with their software.. system crash, reboot,.. blame Sarah, system crash…. and on and on.

I remember when Jean Kirkpatrick was the only well known American conservative woman. The hate started then for her, but she wasn’t still young and a knockout attractive woman.. she didn’t have a a young child or children while doing it all..

But Jean got the first wave, as the sexist comments started with her..

Liberals doing this is predictable.. but conservatives?.. not really, unless her haters aren’t all that conservative at heart.. and Sarah brings that out.
