You dumb racist conservatives are dumb. And racist.

posted at 12:20 pm on January 27, 2012 by Jazz Shaw

I first caught wind of this story from our good friend Fausta, and it seems like a suitably silly note to help wrap up an already strange and unusual week. We’ve got a brand spanking new, rootin’ tootin’ study, fresh off the press from a distinguished group of scientists. (And I can tell they were scientists because I checked, and most of them were wearing white lab coats.) In it, we find what we already suspected about the party that hates science, clings to their guns and their God, and disapproves of Barack Obama not because of his damaging policies, but because he’s black. Yep… you guessed it. Turns out that conservatives are stupid. And racist.

There’s no gentle way to put it: People who give in to racism and prejudice may simply be dumb, according to a new study that is bound to stir public controversy.

The research finds that children with low intelligence are more likely to hold prejudiced attitudes as adults. These findings point to a vicious cycle, according to lead researcher Gordon Hodson, a psychologist at Brock University in Ontario. Low-intelligence adults tend to gravitate toward socially conservative ideologies, the study found. Those ideologies, in turn, stress hierarchy and resistance to change, attitudes that can contribute to prejudice, Hodson wrote in an email to LiveScience.

“Prejudice is extremely complex and multifaceted, making it critical that any factors contributing to bias are uncovered and understood,” he said.

But… but… wait a minute here! I thought IQ tests were useless and reflected environmental effects at a far greater level of impact than any inherent capacity to acquire and retain knowledge? I’m almost sure I read that in Gods and Guns Monthly or something. But, as Fausta points out, James Taranto beat me to the punch.

So IQ tests are racist, except when they’re used to “prove” that people with “socially conservative ideologies” are racist and intellectually inferior.

TheRoot.com has an article arguing that the Republican presidential candidates are racist. It’s about as uninteresting an argument as you can find–but the headline is revealing: “Colorblind Racism: The New Norm.” That Orwellian term, “colorblind racism,” is the pithiest summation we’ve ever encountered of the absurdity of contemporary left-liberal racial dogma.

It also turns out to be a product of academia: The idea of “colorblind racism” was hatched by Eduardo Bonilla-Silva, a professor of sociology at Duke University, a decade ago. Here’s a paper on the subject from the journal Critical Sociology.

Taranto goes on to posit that some of these completely unbiased, intellectually curious academic institutions may have something of a vested interest in proving their point. You see, as the economy continues to falter and conservative, austerity leaning measures begin to take hold and spread at both the state and federal levels, the wellspring of cash which fuels the universities begins to dry up as well. And not to cast aspersions on anyone’s intellectual honesty here, but coming up with a result that casts doubt on the people threatening to dry up your grant money might not be the worst outcome in the world.

But don’t take my word for it. Click through and read both the results of the study and Taranto’s rebuttal. (And for you conservatives in the audience, that would be the left button on your mouse. Frankly, I’m amazed you figured out how to turn the computer on in the first place.)

This is a case of a hypothesis informing the conclusion. Like how CBS or NBC polls always overstate percentages for the Democrats, but this is worse. “Let’s investigate to what degree conservatives are dumb and racist (’cause they sure seem dumb and racist to me!)”.

Saw this the other day and laughed, until I realized the clear tail wag the dog intent – leading up to November.

The Dem assault must be coordinated to question the racial makeup of the opposing party who is swelling against their manchild – but of course will fail.

The AA effect is not there in 2012, as it was in 2008. Plus, out of work folks in America really dont like being called racists, nor do they care about racial nonsense when the mortgage is due.

-Gun control in the inner cities. Let them folks in podunkville have all the guns they like, but we can’t trust poor innercity black people with guns. They’d like, kill people or sumptin…

-Higher business taxes. Helps keep minority start-ups low.

-Community Reinvestment Act of 1977. Gotta force them evil banks to give money to minorities to buy houses they can’t afford/keep up with so we can all “share the wealth”.

-Food stamps/unemployment benefits. Everyone knows that they create more jobs, especially minority ones, than actual jobs do. DUH!

-Anti school voucher/choice. God help them minority kids, especially in DC. Can’t let them get out of slum schools and into something better. Better to throw some money for yet an even HIGHER dollar to student ratio, smile, and then blame “the system” when the kids fail. Keepin the black man down by ensuring he can’t get a good edumacation or sumptin.

Oh wait. Those are all liberal programs. Nevermind. Conservatives are dumb and RAAAACIIIIST.

I think all political candidates should take an SAT exam when they enter a race (the same one that high school seniors take that year). This is a very generic exam of basic competency. Their scores should be revealed to all, the voters can use that to make their own decision.

Every professional school and job has boatloads of standardized tests, licensing and certification exams. You can’t even join the army without passing a written exam. Politicians have it way too easy.

Like E[stein said, Obama’s not an intellectual, he’s just adept at imitating the mannerisms of an intellectual.

Cleombrotus on January 27, 2012 at 12:51 PM

You can add the “Honorable Corrine Brown” to that list of notables.

Flora Duh on January 27, 2012 at 12:40 PM

Well, look on the bright side. At least Florida hasn’t
tipped over yet!

If anything suddenly made sense to you your pea sized brain would explode.

Reagan and Nixon southern white strategy is what made the republican party the face of racism

liberal4life on January 27, 2012 at 12:41 PM

Liberals love wikipedia, right?

White Democrats had regained political power in every Southern state.[5] These conservative, white, Democratic Redeemer governments legislated Jim Crow laws, segregating black people from the white population.

Dolt.

Funny. I’m conservative. And I’m in Mensa. And I went to Northwestern.

I’m what liberals will likely call a statistical anomaly.

Washington Fancy on January 27, 2012 at 12:47 PM

No, you’re what they call proof that IQ’s are meaningless. Somehow, you’re still really stupid, cause otherwise you wouldn’t be here. I guess you’d be at KOS talking about how contractors deserve to be tortured and killed but terrorists deserve the rights of a US citizen.

Esthier on January 27, 2012 at 12:51 PM

Low-intelligence adults tend to gravitate toward socially conservative ideologies, the study found. Those ideologies, in turn, stress hierarchy and resistance to change, attitudes that can contribute to prejudice, Hodson wrote in an email to LiveScience.

So what does Hodson mean by “socially conservative ideologies” to which stupid people gravitate? Gee, one would think that social-conservative “It Takes a Family” Rick Santorum would be less friendly to “hierarchy” than “It Takes a Village” Hillary Clinton. As for “resistance to change”, lots of high-intelligence adults resisted the change from 5% unemployment under George W. Bush to 9% unemployment under Barack Obama. We want jobs so we can earn money to provide for our families, not give it to the government–does that make us STUPID?

Three years ago, a slick snake-oil salesman peddled “Change You Can Believe In”. Forty-six percent of us were smart enough to realize that WE DIDN’T BELIEVE in his change. This year, high-intelligence adults will NOT resist change–we will gladly change Presidents!!!

I have a slave do that for me.

NotCoach on January 27, 2012 at 12:23 PM

My slaves get my nightclothes ready for me every night…… Oh wait! That’s my kids that do that!

VegasRick on January 27, 2012 at 12:52 PM

cicerone on January 27, 2012 at 12:52 PM

What if you sat in a church for 20 years and listened to a Black Liberation Theology spewing racist?

Fallon on January 27, 2012 at 12:53 PM

How do you explain us Herman Cain lovers?

Lanceman on January 27, 2012 at 12:26 PM

AHHHH Herman Cain supporters are actually the most racist of all. Several very smart journalists explained why that is, but I was too dumb to understand.

disa on January 27, 2012 at 12:53 PM

Well, we have a lot of Paul-Nazis calling themselves conservatives (at least for the primary). So they have a point there. Chemtrails and anti-semetism go hand in hand.

bernverdnardo1 on January 27, 2012 at 12:54 PM

Stupid. When are they gonna give us wingnuts a real study–like who has better stamina in the sack: pissy Liberal men or pissed-off Conservative men. My money’s on the latter.
