The obligatory “heated exchange between Obama and Jan Brewer” post

posted at 7:44 pm on January 25, 2012 by Allahpundit

But their previous meetings have been so “cordial.”

I guess I’ll get the ball rolling for commenters: Brewer 2012?

“He was a little disturbed about my book, Scorpions for Breakfast. I said to him that I have all the respect in the world for the office of the president. The book is what the book is. I asked him if he read the book. He said he read the excerpt. So.”

Asked what aspect of the book disturbed him, Brewer said: “That he didn’t feel that I had treated him cordially. I said I was sorry he felt that way but I didn’t get my sentence finished. Anyway, we’re glad he’s here. I’ll regroup.”…

She said the president brought up the book.

“I thought we probably would’ve talked about the things that were important to him and important to me, helping one another. Our country is upside down. Arizona was upside down. But we have turned it around. I know again that he loves this country and I love this country.”…

He appeared to walk away from her while they were still talking, and she confirmed that by saying she didn’t finish her sentence.

You would think the fact that he’s disliked by every Republican in the universe except, I guess, Jon Huntsman would have inured him to criticism from the right by now, but no. In fact, over at the Standard, Jonathan Last remembers that this isn’t the first angry confrontation he’s had with a GOP governor on the tarmac. He once surprised Bobby Jindal by whining about a letter Jindal had sent to Tom Vilsack regarding food stamps. O was in Louisiana that day for a visit related to the BP oil spill but turns out he was preoccupied with the idea that Jindal’s letter had made him look bad. Go figure.

Here’s a bit about the Obama passage in Brewer’s book that has The One so exercised. Our Barack, “condescending” and “patronizing”? Again, go figure:

“It was though President Obama thought he could lecture me, and I would learn at his knee,” the governor wrote, calling his tone “patronizing.”

“He thinks he can humor me and then get rid of me,” Brewer wrote.

Questioned about the different description, the governor said she did not lie.

“I mean, we weren’t yelling at one another, screaming at one another,” she said.

“But it was a pretty one-sided conversation,” Brewer said. “He was, I believe, condescending. And he was lecturing me about what we were going to do and how we were going to do it.”

It sounds … so unlike him. Darn that Jan Brewer for mischaracterizing him this way. Exit prediction for Florida next week: Brewer write-ins 33, Romney 29, Gingrich 27. Click the image to watch.

Obama still doesn’t get it. He still thinks his speeches are magic and that there’s no person he can’t charm in person. When Jan Brewer provided yet another example of how ridiculous that notion is, Obama got upset. And then when he ran crying to Valerie Jarret, she did…whatever it is she does for him.

Obama went totally apoplectic after just one encounter with Joe The Plumber, sending the entire Democrat machine to attempt to attack and destroy JTP after said encounter. It’s Obama’s M.O., always has been.

Some credible, multi-sourced examples would be nice. What were these “other hateful rumors”?

And…

Tell us again how that “Rather-Gate” thing worked out for your side.

A longtime once-respected news organization selling its reputation down the river solely to get a Democrat elected President. And yet they’re still allowed to disseminate their Vision.

And what’s even more sinister is that all of the principals in that story still are convinced they did nothing wrong, and that what they reported was not a lie.

Dr. Goebbels would be proud of them all.

Bedbugs are small, oval, brownish insects that live on the blood of animals or humans.signs that you have bedbugs include:
Blood stains on your sheets or pillowcases
Dark or rusty spots of bedbug excrement on sheets and mattresses, bed clothes, and walls
Bedbug fecal spots, egg shells, or shed skins in areas where bedbugs hide
An offensive, musty odor from the bugs’ scent glands

Nasty things, bed bugs.

No. We aren’t going to let millions of illegals live in our state. No. You aren’t going to grope our 80 year old citizens. No, you aren’t going to tell us where to drill and where not to drill.

Oh, what’s that? You are going to withhold taxes? So can we. F and U.

While I looked at the photo of Jan Brewer and Obama, I was reminded of POTUS saying how much easier it would be to govern in China because democracies are so messy. That comment is very telling—he really cannot cope with dissension. Apparently, he would govern much like Hugo Chavez or even Fidel Castro, if possible. (He certainly ignores the other branches of our government at every opportunity.) The “shellacking” he took in 2010 must have been traumatic—he was ripped from his “messiah” fantasy to the cold reality that more than half the country would like to crucify him for his belligerent arrogance and destructive policies. His political facade is crumbling, day by day, as he desperately tries to quash criticism in hopes of salvaging his “unprecedented, awesome, image”. Well done, Jan Brewer, well done!

Obambi the Vacationer is turning into Stalin. No self control. No tact. No ability to merge gracefully into polite society. Only a two dimensional mechanism which serves only itself whilst exploiting a following too simple to realize he’s selling their future out from under them.

Zero never has been able to withstand criticism from Hillary, Joe the Plumber, anyone. He has depended on his media whores to cover for his tantrums, low intellect, his Ayersian terrorist friends and appointees, his honky-hatin’ Revrum’ Wrong, Harvard & Columbia hiding his grades at schools where no one remembers him, sleazy Eric Holder covering his misdeeds… all to help perpetuate the massive egotistical fraud which is Obama.

viking01 on January 26, 2012 at 12:44 AM

No wonder Obama is so concerned about our government “solving” the problem of bullies. As usual, a large part of the liberal’s drive to limit other’s freedom for the good of society is due to their projecting their own lack of self-control and discipline onto others.

It takes one to know one, Mr. President.

How do you know, have you attended polite society with Obama in attendance? Shaking your finger in someone’s face generally isn’t considered appropriate in polite society.

So we have a President who is failing to protect the Sovereignty of this Nation….
…..a President who is fighting against a Governor who is trying to protect her state from illegal immigration….from the massive economic toll it takes on a state…
…….a President who is not using the full power and ability of this Nation to protect it from a major drug war right across the border…..
……a President whose administration actually sold weapons to the Mexican drug Cartels which have been responsible for the deaths of hundreds of people..including American law enforcement ……

…being confronted by a Governor whose state is suffering from this total lack of leadership and you want to whine about bringing a cell phone into the White House.

How pathetic.

But I am sure you think leaving the leader of Israel in a room by himself while Obama runs off to eat and shoving the Dali Lama out the back door with the trash is showing true class.

Only a liberal like bayam could defend a President who calls Americans that disagree with him “the enemy” while he begs genocidal maniacs like Ahmadenijad for sit down chit chats in love letters sent behind the scenes.

Can you ever remember a time in our history when the President was so divisive and dismissive of both the electorate and elected officials? Rhetorically, no.

This man has done nothing but postured and vacationed his way into obscurity. He neither acknowledges or stakes claim to anything that has occurred since his election. Record unemployment, record numbers of people out of the workforce, people losing their homes, record deficits, non-existent-reckless foreign policy, out of control spending (no budgets in three years??), the largest overreaching government workforce in history, a continued assault on individual rights and forcing citizens to buy his health care plan- against our majority rejection.

Tax the rich? Force people to buy government products? Grow the reach of our government over private citizens? Increase irresponsible spending in a way that loses the US credit rating? Spend billions of dollars to reward cronies and disguise it as a jobs program?

This man is the biggest self-centered, inept and irresponsible this nation has ever elected to occupy our Presidents office. It is long past the time for him to go.

Oh, oh, it looks like Governor Brewer isn’t going to be lectured by Mr. Arrogance. All Republican’s running for president need to put her on the short list for VP.

SC.Charlie on January 26, 2012 at 10:45 AM

Notice how Øbama likes to assert his dominance by holding onto another’s arm or shoulder, as in the thread picture. The first thing I’d do, if I were Jan, is tell him to get his filthy hands off me.

petefrt on January 26, 2012 at 10:52 AM

As impossible as it may be when peanut gallery-ing a moment like this, if you leave the partisan snark out of, I don’t see Brewer coming off well here to most folks. The pic that’s making the rounds has Brewer wagging her finger in the face of the POTUS. He seems to be tolerating her as one would a spoiled child at a dinner party. She comes off as lacking class and decorum.

In a reasonable world, people know that the highest-ranking leaders have more expected of them. Zero may have baited Brewer into giving his low-life meat-eaters some “Don’t dis my man!” outrage, but that just demonstrates how this man benefits from the prejudice of the populace.

When he demonstrates NO respect for the electoral process, the leaders who have been elected, the needs or will of the people who elected him, and plays instead to the baser element who in voting for him made their first ever (dubious) contribution to society, I don’t care if we are the only ones who don’t give him–rather than Brewer–the benefit of the doubt.

I’m sure that is what those who have already decided to support obie will say. But in the end the visual/emotional connection that comes from that image is a mother scolding a child. Whether you like it or not, the recalcitrant child image is one that sticks to obie quite well.

Fighton03 on January 26, 2012 at 11:39 AM

She should have given him five across the chops.

madmonkphotog on January 26, 2012 at 9:35 AM

Or, maybe just talking to him like a human being (like she did) is the better way to go.

Agreed – which is why as Governor of AZ, we should expect better behavior and manners from her.

But in the end the visual/emotional connection that comes from that image is a mother scolding a child.
Fighton03 on January 26, 2012 at 11:39 AM

Really – that’s the image you get? Maybe if you crop Obama out of the shot you can imagine that. But if you include him, he sure as heck doesn’t seem all that bothered by her. More of a bemused tolerance than anything else.

I would suggest that despite Zero’s utter ineptitude, he is not the worst President in our nation’s history. Yet. I would suggest that both Franklin Pierce and James Buchanan still rank ahead (or would it be behind) in this inglorious list. And let’s not forget Jimmy Carter, whose Presidential record is one bereft of accomplishment as well (the Begin-Sadat accord was made largely without Carter’s input; he only managed to persuade them to use Camp David for the signing, implying that he had something to do with the actual treaty).

That being said, good for Governor Brewer. Assuming she continues to do a good job in Arizona, she might be a pretty good candidate for higher office in 2016. And just think how it would infuriate the leftists if the first female President were a Republican. Notice how they never mention that the first non-white Secretary of State was a Republican? But I digress – let us return to Governor Brewer’s dispute with Zero. It is past time for the states to start ramming the Tenth Amendment down the feds’ throats at every opportunity. And if that means renouncing federal money, so be it. States are too dependent on money extorted from the taxpayers now, in my opinion.

So in your twisted world, Obama gets a pass?
Do you also make excuses for him when he flips the bird?

And how well-mannered should we all be when he clearly treats us as his subjects, rather than his employers?

According to you, who has the right to be disrespectful to the Messiah?

rwenger43 on January 26, 2012 at 1:21 PM

Obama was in AZ becuase his re-election staff has identified it as one of 5 states that he must win in 2012.

Brewer was re-elected last year and is very popular in AZ, especially with independents. There are more registered indy’s in AZ than registered Dems.

So getting in a public scap with Brewer is the last thing Mr. Obama should have done yesterday.

He’s slipping.

I don’t see any reason to bring the Messiah into this –
we’re talking here about Gov. Brewer and President Obama.

Fighton03 on January 26, 2012 at 2:53 PM

Arizona needs to have a statue made of Jan Brewer in that pose and send it to Statuary Hall in Congress. I want it there before the November election.

SC.Charlie on January 26, 2012 at 3:04 PM

What’s even funnier is that Brewer whined endlessly about being asked to leave her cell phone outside the Oval Office. This has been White House security policy for over a decade, yet she has been the only one stupid enough to ever complain about it.

Anyone else catch the drudge headline about Brewers book skyrocketing on Amazon since this event?

There were 57 reviews when I looked, split fairly evenly between 5 stars and 1 star. Get your popcorn, this could be fun.

Nooo…not ‘body language analysis’ b.s….please.
Is this Hot Air or Fox News?
Also ‘weight shifted as if trying to move away’?
Maybe you missed that he walked away from her when she was mid-sentence.
Wonder how one could read that?
