I truly wish her the best on her recovery but for Pelosi to say the above???? Brighter than all those in the past? Really? What exactly did she do to deserve such a lofty position?

Excellent post.

The more accurate question is why Giffords didn’t do the right thing and resign as soon as she was competent enough, recognizing that she was collecting a paycheck for a job she wasn’t doing.

Coming together does require civility — but it also requires forgiveness and the abandonment of hypocrisy. If we let it, Gabby Giffords’ remarkable recovery story can teach us that a relentless drive to bring out the best in ourselves must precede any calls for others to bring out the best in themselves.

And this is how we will always lose. They trot out a political point or a distraction and we fall for it.

What about the other victims?

I’d like to see some “forgiveness” and “abandonment of hypocrisy” sent towards Palin’s way. You know, the one who was blamed for this? The person that the left took innumerable shots at. Or how about TEA partiers in general? Since we’re terrorists.

They didn’t seem to care too much about how they made their points, just that they made them and it seems that Ms. Giffords has been complicit in all this since she hasn’t ONCE (please someone PLEASE prove me wrong) in all her reverential interviews said not to blame anyone but the shooter.

But that’s okay. We can all feel good about this and that’s all that matters.

Let’s not forget her husband blamed Sarah Palin for the shooting too.

Sarah Palin had absolutely nothing to do with Gabby Giffords’ shooting. In fact, it can be plainly stated that DWS has employed rhetoric that is in actuality what the left was falsely accusing Palin of employing.

Before I add another word of good wishes to those I’ve already made, I think I’ll wait until Rep. Giffords reaches out to Palin with some kind words. I will not be holding my breath.

I am just so tired of these cretins.

From what we’re told and what’s reported locally, they’re coping. They were reportedly pleased with the decision to name the new federal courthouse in Yuma, AZ, for Judge Roll. The family said they thought the judge would appreciate that tribute. IIRC, there has also been a scholarship established in his name.

What’s up with the peasants that were injured and killed along with Mrs. Giffords? I’ll guess we’ll find out from the tv movie version.

Sadly, Giffords’ Jan. 8 shooting in Tucson, Ariz., has at times been politicized, falsely linked with a rise in “violent” partisan rhetoric.

My point exactly. So now the Senate will give it speedy treatment because it was re-passed in her honor. That’s not how laws are supposed to be implemented. You don’t vote or consider a bill because of emotion.

The house has already passed it before and it stopped in the do nothing Senate. Do you read the articles?

So now they vote on a bill as a tribute to someone? This is ridiculous. You don’t make law based on emotion. Maybe the bill’s a good one, maybe not. In either case it should be voted on its merits, not as some feel good measure.

Another question, is there a magic number of years to when a Congress peep gets full retirement bennies and pension? Is it perhaps 5 years? Is there a coincidence that this month is her 5th anniversary in the House? Anyone know what the formulas are?

I’m sure ANY temporarily disabled federal employee is allowed to double dip from simultaneous outside income (like book deals) without worrying about being watched by private investigators and/or charged with fraud and their benefits immediately halted, and I’m also absolutely positive they’re allowed to stay on until they become fully vested.
 
Heck, I bet federal employees don’t even need workers comp attorneys.
