Poll: What was the Obamateurism of the Week?
posted at 9:00 am on January 22, 2012 by Ed Morrissey
Time for you to do some hard work and choose the week’s biggest Obamateurism! This may be the Bain, er, bane of the White House, all things being equal, but for the rest of us, an endless source of amusement.
Previous weekly “winners” in 2012:
- “He didn’t want to take pictures with any more soldiers; he was complaining about it[.]
- Famous opponent of signing statements issues one covering 17 provisions of bill he signed
Previous Obamateurisms of the Year:
- Giving 2 minutes of “shout-outs” before getting to the Fort Hood shooting (2009)
- Obama leaves Clinton at press conference podium on tax deal to attend Christmas party (2010)
- “I would put our legislative and foreign policy accomplishments in our first two years against any president— with the possible exceptions of Johnson, F.D.R., and Lincoln.” (2011)

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.
Illustrations by Chris Muir of Day by Day. Be sure to read the adventures of Sam, Zed, Damon, and Jan every day!

Had to go with appointing the former Bain CEO.

I’ve always thought this segment should have it’s own web site. The amount of material to choose from is staggering. Add in some “Bidenteurisms”, and you could shut down the web on the sheer number of people voting.

chickie on January 22, 2012 at 9:31 AM
The thing that made his shutting down Disney World even more ridiculous was that photograph taken of him in front of Cinderella’s Castle. With the exception of the poor schmucks standing in front of him listening to yet another of his tired rants, the rest of the park looked like it had been evacuated for an incoming hurricane!
THIS is how you promote tourism?!!!!!

Not my line, but this is one of the best comment quotes I’ve seen on HA. I think the “racist” meme has been worn way too thin to be taken seriously by anyone but Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

Had to go with #4. Fresh on the heels of his family taking a 17 day vacation, he ruins the vacations of untold thousands–to make a point about tourism.
He closes Main St. to make a point about all he’s doing–to help Main St.
The jokes about Goofy, Fantasyland and big ears have been done, but this perfectly encapsulates his ignorance, selfishness, and tone-deafness.

Disneyworld:
This reminds me of what happened during my vacation to Disneyworld this past summer. We were in the Hall of President’s, which is the scene of the shot in this Hot Air Post. The George Washington automaton gave a speech, followed by rousing applause. The Abe Lincoln automaton gave a speech, followed by rousing applause.
The Obama automaton gave a speech, followed by tepid applause. I overheard a man whisper the word “a$$hole” under his breathe. I am sure there would have been more such comments, but people kept in clean for the kids.

Never go there any more. All it is is boobs hanging out and this stupid fake candidacy.
As for Obama I went with the Disney debacle. I know this had to cost a ton of money since I doubt Disney was willing to swallow the cost. I worked for a company that sent the management to Disney World for the annual meeting. The last meeting I attended a few years ago, we were there for 4 days, used 2 hotels on site, catering, and they closed a section of the park on Saturday night for us. That one I heard cost $2.5 million.

There’s a lesson in polling questioning methods in there somewhere…..
Q: Who would you rather be president of the USA for 2012?

He is amazingly desperate. I sort of compare this to the jobs conference he had a few weeks back and was touting this guy who reopened a furniture factory in North Carolina. “He’s created 100 jobs!” Um, Barry, 100 jobs is like one McDonalds. We need hundreds of thousands, millions of jobs! Yet all he could scrap up was some guy with a mom and pop wood shop.
